Hi All what great work I see.

Nuc Med Tech your SBoot looks great well done.

Tony your fire ball looks real good, kudos for perseverance

Boyd & Paul great progress looking forward to more pics.

Sir Il2 your Mig-31 looks good cant wait to see the finished product.  Your right with a jet I also find it easier to put on the decals then the underwing stores.

As for me things are moving along nicely despite the fact I'm splitting my time between my build & raking actualy leaf vacing all the leafs that have fallen so far (we have 6 mapels in the yard).

Progress report drop tanks and underwing stores are painted and built up, canopy installed so now I can start the decals.  I also noticed that I forgot to paint the gun port so a trip to the LHS is in my future for a bottle of paint and since my birthday is coming up soon a few extra goodies to add to the stash.  That's it for now.

Yep - I love the looks of the Mig-31.  Look at those enormous engines!

I read that most of the electronics onboard are operated with vacuum tubes,
because they are more resistant to damage from electro-magnetic pulses.
That's smart thinking for a cold-war interceptor.

The fireball is an interesting build.  This is the first time I've ever even
heard of that plane!  I'll have to read more about it :)

Most of the Mig-31 painting is done.  It's a pretty simple paint scheme.
Tommorrow I hope to clearcoat in preparation for my favorite part: decals.
I'm not very experienced in aircraft that carry missiles, but my current
plan is to finish the ordnance separately, then attach it at the end.

Heya RMV.  Sorry it's taken me so much time to get you an answer. 
I regret that I did not take a 'before' photo.  So instead, I doctored
up this photograph to show what the kit vents looked like (left side):

Ordinarily, I really wouldn't go to so much trouble to fix something
this subtle, but the incorrect contour near the fuselage was really
screwing up the lines of the aircraft: more-so than it appears at this
angle.  That area between the engine intake and the fuselage is a
bit recessed on the real plane, but on the kit it was level with the
top of the main intake.  When the kit was viewed from front-quarter
view (the best angle on any plane), I thought it threw off the looks
of the whole plane.  All-in-all it was a very good learning experience,
but very tedious working in that confined area.  I had to remove the
existing vents and build new vents.  After the experience, I'm sure I 
could now do it much faster.

Managed to make some progress today. A few more seam & gaps filled in, a coat of primer and a coat of RLM76.

TG, very nice aircraft. Way to stick with it- I could see myself tossing all the peices back in the box and not saying "I'll pick this up later." (Which I've done a few times)

Right now I'm "working" on my 1/35 Academy AH-1W. It's just past the decalling stage, but I have such little time to do anything these days. Curse you and your homework, school! I can promise you that I will have it finished before the deadline- I might even try to seal it today (which I know I should have done about a week ago). I can't wait until winter break... too bad we have exams right before. Noooo!!!

Thank you all for your kind words, I will definitly build another Czech Model (if I have one in the stash) before I expire. I will also hide all small parts from the felines if I go away for a VayK.

TG I gotta say it turned out pretty good, way to stick with it.  and given the issues you had i think you really pulled a rabbit out of the hat!  i know that i have been tempted to apply a 2 pound hammer to models that push me too far. but what usually happens is i will gather up all the parts put them in a box and say to myself "i'll fix that latter"  yeah right... i don't know why i  don't just dig the hole and put up the headstone cuz i will never touch it again.  So, no stone throwing here Good job seeing it through,  I really got to work with future more.  

It's so funny that you mentioned shooting models with a pellet gun.  I remember putting smoke bombs in my models, you know... for that realistic crash and burn.  even better was to take that old testors glue from the 60's (very flameable)  putting it all over my 1/700 scale ship models and floating them in a tub of water and then setting them on fire!    ahh, those days of youth

Thank you Arki I am humbled   It is nice and shiny from two coats of future hand brushed with a 3/8" brush. I didn't want anymore headaches with the decals. The star on the left hand side is actually a scaled scan of the star from the bottom of the box; another reason for the extra coats of future.

What did you use for a gloss coat?  Nice and shiny!

Finally, here are the remainder of the pics. you will notice the wing antenna mising. I posed the model and it broke off. Good news is that it is back on the kit. The bad news is that it is not on in the pics.

Forgive the numbers, I had to hand paint the 117 after the decals disolved.

Please don't throw rocks, you may break your computer.

troublewith Photobucket, only two of the photos made it so far. If you're ready I'll try. Not enough in the nose, I put about a 1/4 ounce and some putty.

I'll post the other pics shen they make the long journey from my drive to photobucket.
