Results - Man, that is a nice looking space!!  Locomotive is looking pretty good too...

Razor - what can I say that has not been said already.  Can't wait to see the ongoing process...

As for me and the Stormovik, I am going to be a little delayed in starting.  Have just begun a major remodel of the kitchen and a relocation of my modeling space - I think I mentioned that my wife and I are expecting baby #2 in March (a boy this time) and the little bugger gets my modeling room!!!  UNBELIEVABLE...  he hasn't even shown up yet and he has me banished to the bowels of the deep, dark dungeon... well, the basement at least Blush [:I]

I hope to get a start on the Stormovik early next week and to make some steady progress on it until the baby arrives, then probably will have another delay...

By the way, IL2, I wanted to request some polling data.  I was just curious if you could tell me how many of us voted for the model that we ended up building as our first choice - for example, I know that the Stormovik was my first choice, and it was the one I got to build.  How  about everyone else?

Been workin' away...  Thought I would show a couple pics.  For those of you that don't know what the Kriegslocomotive looks like.  This is it.

Progress so far, frame together, forward boiler suport, and suspension. (boy, it's tough to shoot black Smile [:)])

Just thought I would throw in a couple pics of my space.

Update : The cockpittub has been AB'ed, pannels have been done coalblack to break the monotoneous black and dry-brushed with dark grey and some silver.  The seats have been installed and now the instrument pannels are next, and that's where the first little problem uccures, the gunner's instrument pannel has received a PE piece that goes "thicker" in the middle and runs to the edge, wich ofcourse interfares with the antiglare pannels that go on top Shock [:O], but oh well, I have a solution in mind.

A little word on the kit, as far as I have gotten atm, all pieces fit nicely, but color references in the instructions are scarse.

Gun tec-  That's a good I deal for the levers.  I have never tried that... yet! Tongue [:P]  There are a lot of conduits in the cab and i was going to use wire.  I think that i may augment some of the PE with wire conduits.

Results, I've heard of guys dipping the PE lever handles in white glue to form a round profile.

Results, did you paint the hull before putting in all those porthole windows?  Can't imagine masking all those little round windows.

Boy does that look familiar Smile [:)]  I used smaller clamps and had them about every 2 inches.  It looked like a plastic porcupine Big Smile [:D]

and to answer your question, absolutly!  paint first then windows.

I found this link to HMCS Sackville helpful, nice color photos

I think this group build is more of a marathon than a race.Dunce [D)] We all have our other commitments, but when you think about it we do have a year. I am having a blast with this forum..... already planning on taking the airbrush downrange so I won't miss this thing when it kicks off next year! Good luck fellas.       JOSH

Hook Driver, those new Revell of Germany kits are awesome, and cheap too!  I built the Ju 290 recently and was very impressed.

Here's a pic of the hull all clamped up,

I now have the frame rails and many ajoining parts painted and into subassemblies for my loco.  I also have received my Eduards PE... WOW!  My part numbers just went up by about 30%.  The details are just great.  Maybe someone here can offer me some tips on how to get some of these PE parts a little more 3D?  I mean they fold over and stuff but not quite sure of the technique for getting getting a part that is flat to look more like a conduit or a round lever.

Just as a critique of the Trumpeter model, I have found that almost every part requires clean up and the fit of a few of the pieces lacks good allignment.  Several of the parts I have register pins that force poor fit... so i shaved them off and sanded the matching surfaces and much better.  But then again if it was easy... where's the fun! Smile [:)]

I will post some pics later today.

I'm currently working on the Trumpeter  German 39(H) 10.5cm LeFH18(Sf) auf Geschutzwagen .... (start panting heavily)  for the SP gun GB and I agree with you.  Lots of ejector pin marks, clean up on almost every parts and some aligment problems.  But you can have a lots of good and weird modelling subjects for a really good price!

I also use a few Eduard PE sets, and also noticed that some of their parts are suppose to replace rounded ones.... Confused [%-)]    I assume they are a quick solution. I normally scratchbuild another part altogether. Solder and wires for conduits. I also use styrene rod inside a small  variable speed Dremel tool to carve levers. Don't choose a speed to fast. I use a #11 blade to carve. Wear safety glasses if you try Black Eye [B)].  If the lever is too complex, I make it with several rod of different sizes.      Hope that helps!

Update : Just gave the cockpit it's basecoat of flat black after painting and dry-brushing the seats. When the tub is completely dry, I'll start picking out the details and dry-brush the whole thing.

Hey fellas... you guys were not joking about the rapid posting, holy smokes! Anyway, I am getting ready to start the 162. I am having trouble finding pictures of the BMW 003 turbojet engine on this thing. I think it would look really strange with the cowling open, however the 162 looks rather sparse in the detail department without them open. I waould also like to piont out that this is not the typical Revell kit from when we were all younger. The parts are all very detailed, cleanly molded, and have a very good fit. Some of the higher end kit producers will have some serious competion if revell keep going in this direction. Don't get me wrong revell has always put out some neat kits, they just sometimes needed some work.  If anyone knows where to find some pictures let me know....... JOSH

I have started to glue the hull together and yes there is going to be some filler and sanding involved.  The edges have a bit of a roll to them too which will have to be flattened out.  Thanks for the tip on the ridge parts.  Not that I would "EVER" do something so silly!Whistling [:-^]Wink [;)]

Mist-  Dude! Sorry to hear about your eye.  I have had an eye injury before... had to wear an eye patch for awhile... I looked like a pirate Pirate [oX)] so I went around saying "arghhhh" a lot.  So did your wife say "you'll shoot your eye out"?   Smile [:)]  I'm really glad you're ok and you saved the part.  But, what I think we all want to know is... the part was not damaged was it? mist glad to hear that you are okay . hope the halo goes away quickly definately will have to come up with a battle award for you .

now everyone else in the build dont get any silly ideas like stabbing you leg with an xacto knife of gluing your nostrils together to get an award lol

as for a safety steward you actually have one in me and a union representative as well. I love OSHA management hates them .

as for the higher ups , yes we need to stay out of harms way so we can keep you all occupied with builds :)

hope you all are having fun and have a great weekend guys
