Wow Paul, that looks absoulutely outstanding!!! Bow [bow]Bow [bow]  The PE sure adds a lot.  Glad you're still at it and that your posting pics again.

As for the snowberry I'm way behind where I thought I would be.  Basically I haven't touched it much since I put the hull togehter, I've had to many other commitmentswith work and the family but I have started working on it again in the last couple of weeks.  I've been trying to fix the hull so that the plates overlap properly.  Probably should have looked at it more carefully before slapping the glue on. Holy Cow Man!  RMV, you have one great work there! Bow [bow]  That is worthy of a museum display! Thumbs Up [tup] The only thing I'd do is add an engineer and brakeman to the cab, but that would just send this one over the top.  I'd say you are in the running for the "Best End Result" for this group build.

I had a heck of a time with that 4 piece hull.  All I can say is, putty and careful sanding.  Also beware of those keel strip thingys... they are directional!  Of course I would have known that the fist time i glued them on if i had read the instructions Smile [:)]

ROTFL  Unfortunately I have failed to read the instructions properly on more than one occasion.  Thanks for the heads up Paul and I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that struggled with the hull.

Any thoughts on where i could find 1/35th scale figures?  I have looked and not had much luck.  the closest i have found is tank crew men.  I know it's not right but at least they have work uniforms on.  I would like those figures and an officer overseer...doing what supervisors do... you know, standing around and looking like they are doing something. Smile [:)]

Try this link.  I did a search for 1/35 scale figures-military at Squadron's website.

Progress update: Decals are applied, next is panel line wash and then a flat coat.  Still have to mask Dead [xx(] and paint the canopy though.

I'm shooting for completion this weekend.  I hope.

So who's in the running for the turtle award now?  I'm still plugging away at my kids athletics and finished some other small builds that were quick and easy.  I wanna do my Mitchell right so i'm going slowwwwwwwww

Hey guys. The Tiger I is 100% completed... actually it was 100% three days ago but i haven't been on my computer in at least 48 hours. Unfortunately gentlemen, school just started for me. I am lucky to be home even now at just past 6, even if only to do a few hours of homework.  I tried to do a lot on my 1/35 Academy Super Cobra just before school started a few days ago. I got as far as the first paint coat. Don't be surprised if you don't hear from me that much in the coming months. I will be absolutely sure to check in around new years ; ). (Most likely before then though). And I will get picks of the Tiger up... just after English I homework... and a bit of  Algebra II... and Spanish, Bio, German..... Boohoo [BH]

Doom I feel your homework pain, I sure don't miss it. I'm also looking forward to some pics.

As for me not much progress. I did finish my CF-5A so now I can concentrate on the Thud.  I should get some done this weekend however that will be it for at least a week as I'm of to Seattle for meetings next week at Boeing, should be interesting.

Keep up the good work all>

Bear, nope.  This is #2 for me.  #3 would be the Bf-109E-4/7, and I'm on the fence about whether or not to do it next.  I'd prefer to start my Flanker, but I need to do more research on it first.

Doom, post pics!  But after your homework.

Fini!

Presenting #2 pick by the members of this GB, 1/48 Hasegawa Macchi C.202 Folgore.  Done in the kit markings.  OOB except for Ultracast seat, Ultracast main wheels and superb Mike Grant smoke ring decals.  Lifecolor paints for interior, underside and top colors, everything else Pollyscale.  I tried pastel chalk sludge wash as new technique and quit after I lost patience with the fussiness of it.  Still looking for a technique that looks good and doesn't take forever.  I may go back to preshading only.

Great fit, terrible ejector pin locations, I highly recommend this kit.  The C.202 and 205 are really some of the sexiest aircraft the Italians ever came up with.

Sorry about the lighting.  I still need some more to dispel the shadows.

For now, this is it for me in this GB.  I may build #3, but likely not.  I still check in though!

I'm not a member, but humor me.

Beautiful.

An Italian p-40.

Memorialize for all of us the colors you used, they look fine, and understood you think the light is not so much.

Can you recommend a good Italian 1/72 multi/engine transport/ not a -52

That is a beautiful aircraft arki.  It turned out wonderful.  So what next on your table?

MPH- Those figures must be new.  I looked at every figure squadron had before i made certain decisions.  I afraid that having someone sitting with an are out the window is not possible now... the windows are closed.  i may still use crewmen of somekind but at least i know a color scheme for them now.

Thanks RMV.  The Tamiya Bf-109E-4/7 Trop was voted #3, but I'll hold off on starting it.  Instead I'm jumping into something much bigger and with no props, my Academy 1/48 Su-27 Flanker B.  I feel the need for speed!

Bondoman, the colors used were Lifecolour Italian Blue-Green for the interior, Lifecolour Italian Light Bluegray 1 for the underside, and Lifecolour Italian Light Sand 4 for the top color.  Hasegawa recommended RLM colors, which I decided against, although I've heard the Germans and Italians used each others colors interchangeably when in the field together.

I wouldn't necessarily call the C.202 an Italian P-40.  Despite the P-40's panache/chutzpah it was an obsolete aircraft.  The C.202 was one of the best aircraft Italy produced during WWII with very good performance.  It's downside was that it was too little too late, and weak armament of rifle calibers without a heavy cannon punch necessary for the heavy Allied bombers.  That was later rectified of sorts in the exemplary C.205 Veltro, but once again was too little too late.

Anyway, thanks for the comments!

By the way, I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but the superb Mike Grant decals are a little fragile.  Even after they're down, they can be rubbed off if you're not careful.  I wasn't careful and accidentally rubbed off some of the smoke rings at the leading edges of the wings during handling.  Censored [censored] Just an FYI for those thinking of using his decals.

Arki Your C.202 looks great, well doneThumbs Up [tup]  I understand you wanting to go to jets after 2 hurricanes, a spitfire and a PZL 11c I was  glad to build something that did not have a prop.   However do you think it might be feasable to see Bf-109E before the end of the yearWink [;)]

As for progress not much gear assy is moving fwd however I just saw a note in the instructions about adding nose weight OOOOPS!!!!!Banged Head [banghead]  Now I've got to figure out how to slip in some weights through the cockpit opening ?????  I love a challenge.

Cheers

Well, never say never Big Smile [:D]  It just depends on the Flanker progress.  She's a big job compared to these diminutive WWII fighters.  Thanks for the comments, Bear!

Kenny, thanks for the comments as well!  I'm especially pleased to hear you've finally started on the Big E!

Arkii, beautiful job on the Maachi 202. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  Did you put a coat of future on to seal those smoke ring decals afterwards to help reduce the risk of damage?

RMV- Your train is looking really nice, I hope you can find some figures to go with it. Amazing paint job on it.

Arkii- The Macchi came out great. Did I read right, those smoke rings are decals? If so I wish I knew they had them when I built mine. Oh, well gives me an excuse to build another one.

The Schnellboote is coming along well, Had some masking problems but I should be able to fix them. I'll try and get some progress pics up soon.Cowboy [C):-)]

Thanks!  Given what I know now, I would recommend a coat of future on those decals.  Obviously for me it was too late.  The flat coat should help protect them somewhat for the rest of this model's life.

In My Stash 2 - The Sequel with No Equal! Big Smile [:D]  I'm in Thumbs Up [tup]

Suggestions?  Hmm, there are a lot of things that worked really well for this GB that shouldn't be changed, i.e. the voting process.  That's now the signature of this GB, IMHO.

Something I think should be changed for all GB's though is the length of time.  A year or longer duration is just toooooo long.  There's no incentive to keep building.  Seriously, hands in the air, how many of us put off GB's knowing we have a year to get to them, join other GB's and next thing you know, we're mortgaged up to our eyeballs in builds we can't possibly get to?   Come on, be honest!

I've noticed in other forums that shorter durations do tend to weed out those who really aren't serious about contributing and keep those who are serious focused.  More participation = more education, more fun!

I realize that will be hard for those who have big builds selected, 1/350 carriers for example (Kenny Whistling [:-^]).  8 months duration maybe?

Just my My 2 cents [2c]
