My "vote" would be 6 months max.  I would also suggest limiting everyone's list to a max. 15 kits (easier to review for us voters) My 2 cents [2c]

Me as well.  I agree with MPH.  6 months should be max.  It would get me off my butt and build it casue now i know i still have a couple of months to do this.

The max limit of kits is not a bad idea either Thumbs Up [tup].  Some of the lists were just too much to weed through.

I agree with the 2 rule changes as well. I think they would improve the GB next time around.

 My My 2 cents [2c]...

what constitutes the 'top 15kits'? I was just thinking that perhaps we should 'request' that people make their 15 kits as diverse in subject and scale as possible. I know it's impossible to insist that all 15 kits are different types and scales, but suggesting that it is prefered might be an option. Having 15 1/48 single engined aircraft is not really much of a choice, whereas a big difference in the 15 kits makes it more of a group choice rather than an individual choice.

What do you all think?

Well, that would work for those who have large diverse stashes but not so much for those who have nothing but 1/48 single-engined aircraft.

Hi all  I concure with Arki it could be tough as my stash is 99% 1/72 aircraft.  As for the other proposed changes to the GB here is my My 2 cents [2c] The limiting of the stash to 15 is fine by me for the last vote I left out a few of the kits I knew would take me much longer to build or did not want to tackle right now.  For the time limit I don't object to a shorter limit however I would like it a bit longer than 6 months would 8 be acceptable.  My reason is and maybe others are in the same position with my job there are times when I can be kept away from my work bench for long streches 2 to 3 weeks at a time and if the operation goes down the flushers even longer (I work for an Airline in flight operations).  In the last 2 GB's I was in that lasted 6 months I found myself stressing out at the end to complet my build for the TX date, that kinda defeats my purpose of building models to relieve stress and the 12 months was one of the attractions of this GB.

Sorry for my long winded My 2 cents [2c] That being said count me in for In The Stash 08

Cheers

I like the change in the submited kits.  For me this will be easy... been a tough year... my stash almost the same as last years with just 3 additions.  But the change to 6 months would have killed me this year.  I can be the king of procrastination but with models I am fairly diligent.  Apart from 3 weeks due to a serious family illness, I try and find some time almost every day to work on that loco.  We are now in month 9 of the build and I'm just now starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.  I will however say that I have never worked on a model this long, lots of parts Smile [:)]  In support of 8 months, I would say I'm all for it.  The kits I have in my stash now are all doable in 8 months.   Just as a thought I would throw out there.  Something somebody said in their post made me think about modifing the name of the build to just "Stash 08"  just a thought and it sure fits on a badge easier.  My 2 cents [2c]

Bear, the Thud looks really good.  You are sooo close!

I can definitely sympathize that life gets in the way sometimes, so maybe 6 months is just too short.  We need a happy medium between too short and too long, and the 8 month suggestion seems to work quite nicely.

The Thud' is looking really good Bear! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  I'm looking forward to the finished product.

As for rule changes for next year I guess they won't apply to me as I am on the two year plan with the Snowberry. Sad [:(]

hey bear the thud is looking great cant wait to see more

no no razor you dont get away with not participating just cause you have a long build my friend Big Smile [:D]

we could go with the eight months definately works well for me . if it was eight months though i would be dead on my build lol.

we should have it run from january to may , then summer hiatus, then back to the build from october to november which equals eight months.

i know i am trying to be slick and keep it a year long for those of us who get in over our heads on gb's lol

Hey Bear!  That Thud is looking very nice.  Sure stands high when it is not loaded for action.  Also looks like you have a workbench that is well used and loved.

Like the way you scroll thru your GB badges there razor.  The addition of the finished work is a great idea!  What program do you use to create your slide show?  I have not found on that I am liking.

I used macromedia flash 8.  It's the only program I have that makes animated gifs and have never used anything else but it seemed pretty easy to use.  Just had to play around with the compression options to get one that worked.

Kenny, you mean I have to finish the Snowberry AND something else next year?!?!? Shock [:O]

So, since I'm well into the tedious task of filling and sanding the Flanker, which is a huge effort given the sheer size of this thing, I decided to jump into my 3rd and last build for this GB.

I've washed the parts tree for the Tamiya Bf-109 E-4/7 Trop and am prepping the interior for primer.  <sigh>  I need help Wink [;)]

Some progress pics from what I've accomplished over that last day or so.  Interior is finished, fuselage together and wings on.  Still need to paint and install the lower cowling, but that's in the works.  The interior is OOB except for the Ultracast seat.  I didn't put much effort into the interior since I'll be displaying this with canopy closed.

Sorry for the close-up shots, I had the shakes Big Smile [:D]

Just for kicks, I put the 109 on the top of the Flanker just to show the difference in size between WWII fighter and modern jet fighter.  I know we're all aware of the size difference, but cripes!

Anyway, enjoy.

Arki That's amazing what good progress on the 109 your most definitly on a modeling roll the Flanker looks pretty good also.  The 109 sure looks small next to the Flanker.

Lord Kenny I propose Arki as our most prolific modler for this GB.

Not much done on my side had all the family over for my grandsons birthday this weekend.  I hope to get some painting done on the drop tanks today Mrs Bear permittingSmile [:)]

Thanks Bear!  But I humbly decline the prolific modeler recognization as throwing together some WWII single-engine aircraft is easy compared to what many of you are faced with.

Nope.  From my guy friends who are married, I apparently have a rude awakening in store for me once I take the trip down the aisle.

Needless to say, I'm delaying that event as long as possible. Big Smile [:D]

Well you are going to wake up in your own bed, and it's you who chooses who you have lying next to you. No one person wears the pants, if that's a metaphor for who's in control, in a successful marriage, IMHO.

But, apropos to these forums, we are all creative types who are interested in history, are dedicated to doing things right the first time, and who aren't afraid to show the world what we can do.

If you get married, marry someone like that.

Hello to everyone out in "In My Stash GB" land. Been gone since The end of June. I had to build a Polar Lights Spider-Man for my daughter before we drove 2100 miles to the land of fruits and nuts ( CA ) to deliver it. I was under intense pressure to get it done in time and it became a JOB. I built it in 2-1/2 weeks and used everything youse guys taught me while working on it. The web from his wrist is twisted and braided pipe cleaners. I used pin washes to accent the black lines on the costume. When I finished and gave it to her....................... She in turn gave it to her boyfriend!.........This has got to be the best paintjob I have ever done and I don't even have a picture of it.  She promised she would get some.    Anyway...I was so totally wiped from that experience, I didn't have any compunction to build anything. I am back!Big Smile [:D] and ready to finish Mr. Fireball with a few caveats. While away the little darling Kittycat jumped on the work table and ate the fire extinguisher (I think) so I was depressed Boohoo [BH] and did not work on it til today. I'm sorry but if the plane catches fire she's a gonner. That was the only way I was going to get back into it. The plane is almost ready for decals (I futured today) and will be finished soon.

BTW I have caught up on all the posts and am really impressed with all the fantastic work everyone has done. Glad to be back. Tony
