A big thanks to IL2 for putting all that work in to the vote list and counting!

So it looks like I get to build my M1A2 guess I will have to dig it out. Maybe I can start on it tomorrow if I am lucky.

Anytime Sir IL you definately deserve it now gonna have to get a site up so we can display awards and keep all kinds of statistics

hey dan what are you talking about i though the build was over yesterday lol

i for one have no problem with awards if everyone else is okay with them .

but i will not soley give out awards for the kits themselves yet again we shall vote on everything that is done and we have to come up with some sort of list of awards we will give out.

i never expected such a response to this build and it is incredible you are all a great bunch of guys and without you all this build would have never got off the ground.

Now as i said i will not chose kit awards but now and again i will give out special awards (you all beat me to the award thingy ) so...

Hey Flipper,

One thing you could try is to make a template off of the good side of your minesweeper and then mirror it on to a wood block so that you have a 2 sided wood block insert.  Then insert the block and use a hair drier to soften it.  theoretically... it should under it's own pressure or pressure from the out side assume the shape of the block?  Is it warped in or out?  

I like the idea of wacky awards... and vailid "at-a-boy" awards too!  Is this like the coolest build or what?

I should call  you Eric.... i realize after i posted that you may not like to be called flipper?  sorry.

I would like to retract this statement. I took another look at the kit and realized that there are no details! It's the most boring kit ever! AAAHHHH!!!! It's actually slightly disgusting. 

And IL, I still need to join that marvelous chorus of people thanking you. You kick so much arse! this is such a great build cuz of you. Hmm... maybe we should make a CD of our chorus. 

I think the awards are an excellent idea. Could you make one for best Humvee? Then i might actually win something!

First, let me join the chorus of people thanking you for the work you did to get this GB off the ground (and a thanks to Kenny, of course, for having the idea in the first place).  Kudos to both of you.

Second, let me chime in to say that I think the end of the year 'prizes' is a great idea.  Maybe the 'winners' could be 'given' a particular GB badge to display?

This is, by far, one of the best organized and most creative GBs that I have seen.  Keep it going guys.  Now, if you will excuse me, I have to relocate my workbench (new baby on the way - I have been banished to the basement) so I can start on my Stormovik!!!!

IL that is a good idea about the awards, I really like it. But to be true to the construct of the build should not we vote on wether or not to have the awards? This is aside from whatever Lord Kenny decrees.

Mist, I must confess that smashed a 1/72 Roden Sopwith Strutter 1 & 1/2 after the 4th time the upper wing collasped. I still have the remains somewhere.

Sorry, had to.  Try warming the plastic under a light bulb and  warm try to straighten out.  I had to do that with an old F4U corsairs wing that was VERY twisted warped

Oops, didn't even see that...looks like the Sea King is next after the Apache, people around here seem to like helicopters

Anyway, just opened the box after dusting it off a bit and I found a nice surprise in it, it seems that I even got an Eduard PE set for it that I had completely forgotten about.  

Thanks for all the work that went into this voting and counting thing guys, this has to be the GB that required the most organization of them all.

Just called to my work to *cough* that way *cough* too sick to *cough* drive my *cough* locomotive safely.

I've had that Apache laying around for ages now, and I'm glad I now have the motivation to break the kit. Out of curiousity, will we get to know what was second and third choice, or is that something we'll learn when we finish the first kit ?

Boy, I sure do feel bad if we stepped on anyone's toes by getting
the Voting Day wrong.  I honestly thought we voted right on schedule,
but maybe I misunderstood.  :\  It can be hard to keep up with this very
active thread. 

I got inspired seeing everyone's kits, and so I yanked mine out of the box
and trimmed a few peices.  The dry fit reveals a kit that will take lots of
TLC to remove seams and correct fit.  Then I will be scribing over raised
panels lines it seems.  I've been spoiled by the Tamiya P-51B i'm building,
which has practical fallen together.  Oh well, I'm still stoked because this
is one bad-*** looking bird:

I am definitely going to mount it "in flight", much like the F-16AFTI which
I recently built, except in more of a horizontal flight position.

I enjoyed reading Mr. Result's bit on his methods for sorting parts!  Ain't
it funny how we all have our own ways! LOL.  I took a picture of what I
do before each build:

My lady of'teh house was hoping that the D0-228 Arctic Explorer would win. 
She reads loads of books about mountaineering, and i told her I'd build
that one for her.  LOL, I know it's not and entire AIRCRAFT CARRIER or
anything, but it is something, right! Kenny, your lady is one lucky dame!

As for me I did a dry fit of the hull tonight and then took a look at my work bench... took another look at the hull...  ...  and then spent the rest of the evening rearranging my work bench to accomodate the new build.  (the clean up was long overdue anyway )

You go off for a holiday with no internet access and all the rules get changed.  I left on the 15th knowing that I would get back in time for the over the weekend vote.  I get ready to do my vote and the vote table says voting is closed.  I have to keep a close eye on your fellers, next thing I know you will decree that the build has to be completed by February 31!

There was a great avalanche this afternoon.  I think the Marder is on the bottom.  Excavation will commence as soon as I complete the tabulation of my students grades! 

Christmas did not add to the stash.  However my Pop gave me a nice work table.  The priority is to get it put together before any modeling can commence.
