WShock [:O]W!!!!  That's a boat! Looks like fun.  I cannot believe that you have finally started.  I am now down to less than 20 parts on my train.  So few that i have all that is left loose on my table.  That is unless i make more parts.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  I'm so close that I will probably enter the conclusion stage this weekend. You know, the time when it's really done but you just cant seem to stop.  I still need to "nature" up my road bed with some grass and weeds.  I have a good idea what i am wanting to do with figures and this may require me to pop our one of the windows and reposition it.  You see what i mean?  Finished but not really.  I will be posting some picks when i get to that happy place. Smile [:)] It's so big though i will probably have to post a lot of picks just to show it all.  So it looks like i will be able to complete in time.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Kenny, thanks for updating the front page Thumbs Up [tup]

RMV, good to hear you're at the finish line.  Looking forward to seeing that monster finished!

Progress update on my end: wheels are painted, props are painted, spinner is painted, etc. etc.  I now have nothing left to work on except the mottling Dead [xx(]  I guess I'll jump into it tomorrow evening.  With glee.

cool arki.

well i think i am gonna leave the hull color on the Big E . i talked to two vets that served on her and said the color is fine . i have come across people with the same color and others lighter so i am sure there is a great debate to what color to use . i will just leave it and go on with the build .

Hi,

I am still here! I've moved house now and have retrieved the undercarriage from behind the TV unit and reattached them. The Moskito got bashed in the move though and something is rattling in the cockpit but hopefully it won't show. I'm starting to get back to the hobby table, amongst various other house chores.

Despite the fact that I deliberately droipped the Moskito and hid some parts that fell off and started a second kit half way through this GB it appears I will be finished before Xmas. Just got a few parts to add the the outside and then it's time for primer.

looking good nucmed.  are you having any luck with that windscreen?  i had a few problems with mine... as a matter of fact, i had so much of an issue that mine has no wind screen.

rmv frustrated at the windscreen and left it off , i had one of those modelling days today. letting paint and putty dry i decided to work on another model that has been sitting for a while. the dragon light infantry set with the motorcycle by dragon. i advise , no i highly recommend you stay away from this kit. horrible fit problems with the motorcyle the men were great though.

i got so frustrated with the build i threw the bike against the wall which didnt break it enough for me so i proceed to use my timberland boots to squash it even more .....

now back to the cvn dont worry i wont be smashing that :)

Angry [:(!] I have mentioned how much I hate mottling?  I mean really hate mottling?

Soley because I stink at it.  I just haven't hit that magic combination of airbrush pressure and paint-to-thinner ratio.

I shot the mottle tonight and I'm almost positive I invented a few new words to place in the foul-mouth lexicon.  Censored [censored] 5 psi and 3:1 thinner/paint ratio?  Still get spidering.  Add a little paint.  Now the dang pressures too low.  Adjust pressure.  Hmm, not bad, wait, stop spattering!  Aaaggghhh! Censored [censored]Censored [censored] Write down new words for verification by whatever governing body governs cuss words.  Adjust pressure, try again.  Clean clogged tip.  Banged Head [banghead] Try again.  And so on, so on.  The only thing that saved me at all was deciding to cut random size masks from index cards.  That alone helped mitigate the damage.

Tomorrow?  Touchup all the bad spots.  That'll be another full night.  Angry [:(!]

How those other guys do it, I don't know.  I'm still waiting for my mottling muse.

Kenny, Razor, Il2, RMV-Thanks for the kind comments. RMV I'm saving the windscreen for last I want to dullcoat the whole ship first (and try a little weathering) before putting on the wind screen.

Arki- I'm sorry to here about your mottling woes. Ended up going with the index card mask though. I'd like to see how it came out when your done.Cowboy [C):-)]

well i am changing my strategy on my build (no i didnt break her Big Smile [:D] ) since i very well cant miss my own deadline on this build . i am gonna go straight OOB. there is way to much puttying and sanding to do .

it is going to be a very clean build since this will be a static display piece i just hope she comes out well . now back down to the shop for more sanding.

Yeah, I've heard the PE sets for 1/350 ships are incredible, but are a time-sucking black hole.  You can literally lose your mind in PE railing.

Either way, Kenny, I'm sure it will look great.

Ok, finished the touchups on the mottling and I feel much better now Approve [^].  It's still no where near the level of what's posted to the forums on a regular basis, but it's not bad for only my third mottling effort.  Once markings are applied I think it'll look decent.

Moving onto final assembly in preparation for Futuring!

It's looking good Kenny. Can't you put the railings and most other PE on after the build is complete? I'd hate to see a ship like that not get the full work-up.Cowboy [C):-)]
