Looking good Kenny, but I think I might be in the running for that most putty used prize too.  I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

Arkii, looking forward to some more pics!

Fini!  I present the #3 voted kit from my stash, the 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109E-7 Trop in kit markings of Leutnant Werner Schroer from 8/JG27, Lybian Desert of 1941.

AM upgrades include Ultracast seat, main wheels, exhaust and props/spinner.  Great kit, goes together very well.  Preshading only, and no weathering as I'm not a big fan of it for my builds.

As I've mentioned before this is only my 3rd German mottle effort so I'm obviously still learning.  Given my skill level, I'm okay with how it turned out.  Next one will be better, and the one after that, so on and so on.  It'll look good on my shelf.

There are a couple of mistakes (as always), but I'll let everyone else find them.

Comments, criticism welcome!  For this particular GB, that's it from me.  I'm spent!

Beautiful, it looks almost like an Italian bird in that scheme.

Great work, Arki.  I'm impressed that you've already built 3!  Going on to #4?

Razor and IL, thanks for the compliments!

#4?  No way.  #4 was a tie between another Bf-109 Dead [xx(] and a Tamiya F4U Corsair.  I'm not interested in another Bf-109 and the Corsair will take too long.

I'm spent.  I'll patiently work on my Flanker and await the start of the voting process for IMS '08!

Hi guys,
I'm still here as well. I'll try and get a pic or 2 posted at the weekend of the Moskito and the Skycrane. I seem to have ended up with choices #1 and #2 underway. The Moskito is getting close to its first coat of paint. The Skycrane is not that far behind if I remember correctly...still in a box after the house move.

Awesome 109 Arki!

Hey Paul, glad to see you're still with us.  Didn't you just move to Nelson last year?  ...and you moved again?  Must love torturing yourself eh?  Looking forward to your pics.

ok ok,

Arki, I promise some pics at the weekend. Blush [:I]

Dave, yes I moved again - not so far this time though. We moved into our own place about 5 minutes up the road. We now live about 25 minutes west of Nelson and work - half way bewteen Nelson & Castlegar. Lots of fresh air and scenery - and snow starting to appear on the mountain tops. Sad [:(] Now of course my chore list is monstrous and never ending.

Arki, great work!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

How do you preshade and have it show through the layers of paint that will be on?

Tony

Ps: I'm kinda done with the Fireball and will post pictures when I find the camera.

Tony, very carefully!  Basically, thin coats of paint until the panel lines are still highlighted but blended into the overall color.  It's very easy to over do it and cover up the preshade.

If you have a complicated camo scheme like that on RAF or German aircraft, you'll need to plan ahead.  For example if you have base Color A and camo Color B in your camo scheme, don't apply the preshade then cover everything in base Color A and then mask and apply Color B.  You'll obliterate the preshade.  You'll have to mask your base Color A in the camo scheme.

Bottom line, thin coats over the preshade.  I get better results from preshading than postshading.  And it's faster for me.

Thanks for the comment!

RMV & Tony More pics pleaseSmile [:)]

As for my progress report not much so far.  I tried to do some work and managed to mess up one of the drop tanks big timeBanged Head [banghead] (painting and industrial strength decongestants dont mix) so I've pretty much left things alone.  However all is not lost I took one of the wing tks from an F-105B kit in my stash and I'm moving forward.  I'm hopping for rain this weekend so I can get some bench timeWink [;)]

As for In The Stash 2008 is fearless leader going to start a new thread and are we limiting the stash to 15 ???  inquiring Bears want to know.  Take care all.

arki I hope so.  I've started the process with stuff who's name eludes me at this time but it's a slow process the paint is comming of in bits and lots of scrubing.  So for expediancy I decided to use a tank from my F-105B they're both Hasa  kits and are the same.

Cheers

Great Googaly Moogaly!!!! Bow [bow]

You've outdone yourself, RMV.  I know the 10 months was a long time, but the wait was sooo worth it.  Sweet paint scheme, the wood patterns are spot on and the detail is just fantastic!  The rust effect is perhaps a little overdone, but that's picking nits.  The weathering otherwise is simply stunning.

Well done!  Definitely one of the coolest subjects I've seen executed in a long time! Thumbs Up [tup]Make a Toast [#toast]  Congrats on sticking with it!

RMV,

a simply awesome Kriegslokomotive. Just how big is that and how are you going to display it? It's certainly an eyecatcher! Well done.

Paul

the loco and tender together are about 24 inches.  the display tracks that come with it are about 10 inches longer.  i plan on putting some moss and stuff on the blocks and grasses and weeds on the road bed.  then when i can spend a little money i'm going to get the loco men from squadron and i have an idea of something else but we will see how that turns out.

Thanks everyone for the great comments.  i sure feel like i have accomplished something!
