Nerf sprue cutters? Paint brush shakers?...something's going to catch on.

Well if the west coast office dose not object I would like to recomend that the Bluegrass office officialy take over promotion and publication of the "Progress Dogs News Letter." Mucker will now be in charge of all aspects of the news letter, so all Emails concerning this should be sent to him. The Gulf Coast and west coast office will retain veto power and control over final content and any special offers. Ok mucker its all yours, ohh and by the way your franchise fees are due by the 7th. Thanks.

Woo-Hoo! Promtion, baby! Marchin' right up that corporate ladder!

By the way, I'm using the coupon for fromt the October '06 issue for 50% off my franchise fee, and I'd like to have a word with you offline about those gaudy "mandatory" uniforms. I do not look good in '80's parachute pants, but I will grow the mullet back to keep the job.

On a side note, PE belts (Big thanks to Marc) are going on tonihgt and pics should be ready shortly

Marc, that is a great looking build! I really like the paint work on it. I may have to remember that scheme for a future build up.

I filled in the wing/fuselage joint with some magic sculpt yesterday. That's mainly to fill the large void. It'll probably need some Red Bondo Putty filler to smooth everything out.

OK, my first build is pretty much done. I just have to weather it, and it'll be finished. I've gotten a little progress on the P-400, i.e. the cockpit is almost done, and some of the minor parts are painted. I'll try to get some pics up within the week.

A bit more work done. Canopy is on, although the fit wasn't too hot, not sure what happened. It looks good on the left side, but the right....not as good. Ended up using a bit of filler there. Fuselage and wings should go together soon, although test fitting has revealed that there will be some filling at the wing/fuselage joint.

Fantastic working going on here! I'm gonna squirt some paint on another project tomorrow and while it dries I think I'll get going with this build. My unplanned trip into Mustang obsessionville cost me much time and many, many moons spent on things other than this group build. I'm itchin to get at it!

thanks, I thought it was odd that there were no stars on the upper wings but what little documentation I could find on this particular plane showed no stars.

I think it looks good. You could always add stars latter if you want them. I built a yak 3 a while back and the references showed stars on the sides and the bottom of the wings. Of Coarse this is not a yak 3 so.........oh never mind.

Nice weathering there. Thumbs Up [tup] Looks like the plane has been at the Front for a bit of action.  Not sure, but didn't Russia have a Red Star on the top of each wing?  I realize that you may have copied a plane that didn't, but just asking.

Barry, great job on the P-39.  I like the weathering myself.

Still at my conference in Jacksonville.  On a break and was happy to find the the internet connection was finally up and running.  So needless to say... no progress.  But I see everyone else is doing just fine work.  Found 2 LHSs within 15 mins of the hotel... I am going to check them out tomorrow.

Nice job Barry.  and Congrats on the first completion in the build.  When I get back i will update the webiste.

I found out that if you remove the two mounting tabs on the door, sand both the front and back edges untl they fit, and sand the top front corner/curve to match that of the canopy. this should help eliminate a lot of the headaches.Big Smile [:D]

I think I am finished the wife was out of town this weekend so I was able to put the finishing touches on, I dont know but I think I might have weathered it too much, My thought was as hard as these planes were flown there would little time to maintain the exterior. any comments are welcome.

Charlie, great job!  Looks like she's coming together nicely.

Here's where I'm at.  First, the "before" pic of the wing seams:

Then, the "after" pic.  I think some more test fitting and trimming would have minimized the seams and needed less filler, but live and learn.

I got about half way through applying the Eduard supplied canopy masks when I noticed a couple were peeling up at the corners.  Gave up on them completely at that point and finished the masking with strips of Tamiya tape.  Had the canopy white glued on, but it popped loose the first time I tried to fit the right door, which I'm going to glue closed.  Reglued with regular cement, but the door is going to take a lot of fiddling to fit correctly.

Cheers!

Alright, some progress pics from today. Got the fuselage together. A bit of a gap on the forward fuselage, a little zap a gap took care of it.

As one of the founding members and head of the South Eastern/Gulf Coast office of Progress Dogs LLC, I feel obligated to reply to this post. While it is true that we here at Progress Dogs LLC prefer to see pics with updates, we do not have an official policy requireing them. However we are of the opinion that pics enhance the quality of the experince here on FSM. As an un-written rule updates with out pics are acceptable from time to time. Updates with out pics on a regular basis are frowned upon, unless the participant does not have the means to take or post pics. In this situation we recomend obtaining the needed items and skills to post pics. Our west coast office (ED) specializes in tutoring members on how to post pics. It is a free service we provide to FSM members who meet certain criteria (see publication # 60.03). I hope this clears up any confusion. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
