Spent all day saturday filling seams, sanding said seams, refilling and resanding.  Got it primered and DOH! more filling and sanding to go.  The office went together so well, i had thought it was gonna be an easy build.  That'll teach me huh?  You'll see what i mean in the pics

humpf, no progress to report Sad [:(] but I found a great website for building the Titanic with lots of reference photos and stuff and the owner of the site suggested for the red hull colour to use the red-oxide spray paints that you can buy at Home depot, it is supposedly the perfect colour!  So I got some and hopefully I'll get on it this week. (fingers crossed)

That is one fantastic looking B-25!

Ok, here's a few pics from this weekend.

Monogram F-8 Crusdader, built pretty much straight out of the box. Getting ready for decals ( Banged Head [banghead] with the wing tip that broke off!).

And then later on Saturday with about half the decals on.

I finished off all the decals last night, now I need to clear it, and finish with the assembly!

Looking sharp Charlie!

I also like the looks of everything else here too.

Grandma L, Do NOT use Micro-sol or -set on the decals that are disintegrating in water! That will make them fall apart faster!  Micro-scale offers something called Liquid Decal Film that can be brushed over old decals tomake them new again. I use it all the time and it's great! Just brush it over the old decals and then wait an hour and then trfim the decals close to the color, cut out, dip, and apply. Or you can use the spray varieties mentioned above; just make sure that when you go to cut out the decals, trim very close to them with a very sharp Exacto blade to remove as much of the excess carrier film.

Looking forward to seeing more progress!

Wow! What kind of flak trap did that Crusader run into to blow off a wing tip like that?  Nice work on the decals.

Your F-15 is coming along just beautifully.  I may have to attempt one of those sometime.  It looks beyond my modeling talents at the moment.

chasd25, you gotta watch those wingtips when you pull into the hangar.  Keep the wing walkers away from the beer until AFTER you park the plane.

mist086.  Nice work on the Eagle.  The burner cans look like quite a challenge.

You've been fortunate then. Many older models have decals that dry up and get brittle so that when they finally get dipped in water, they shatter into a ton of pieces and become impossible to apply. This is even before adding the Micro-sol or -set. Grandma L had that happen on her model for this Build, and I've experienced it before too. Now I make a habit of coating any decals with Liquid Decal Film automatically if the decals are from kits older than ten years or if they come from specific companies.

I apologize, no real progress has been made on my Flyer. I just have to sit down and start rigging it and then I can move on. Hopefully I'll have some progress to show by this weekend.

Accidents DO happen.  You have to be careful or they will sneak up you!

"Accidentally" started an F7-F Tigercat???Confused [%-)] LOL!!

I had built one of those for this Build as well while working on my Flyer.  Check it out in an earlier post.

Meanwhile, speaking of my Wright Flyer, I managed to get a lot done on it. Here is my progress so far.

I got the rigging done on the main wing assembly. Here you can see it all finished:

After getting it all rigged, I assembled the landing skids, forward horizontal stabilizers and the rudder. Here it is, first from the front:

Then from the back:

I still have a few more pieces to put on it, as well as some paint touchups to do, and then this one will be finished.

Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

Duke,

Nice job on the Wright Flyer! Bow [bow]

I have a couple of those kits in my "to build" stash.  I was wondering what you used for the riging on your plane as it does look very well done, and I will need ideas when I get around to building mine one day.  The light weathering on the fabric also looks very convincing as do the "wooden" propellor blades.

Thanks Scotty. If yours is the Revell "100 Years of Flight" Commemorative model kit, don't worry about finding something to rig this with. Revell included the silver thread in the box. They even give you the measurements for how long to cut each one. I cut most of mine a little short while still having enough to do the job; they give you a measurement that gives you plenty of room for tying off the ends.

The rigging diagram is difficult to follow in the instructions so have a reference photo(or five!) of the real thing if you can. I still need to finish rigging several areas before this is done.

Thanks for the compliment on the weathering of the fabric. I painted it first with Desert Sand, and then used a lighter sand/desert yellow to drybrush the raised detail. The wood color I painted with Testor's MM Wood color first, then when it was dry, I used a small Testor's bottle of Gloss Dark Brown and painted over it. I made sure there was brushmarks on the dark brown color, since that is what simulates the woodgrain. I did that on all the struts and support beams as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing yours built. Meanwhile, I'll post more pis when I get more progress done.

Duke I agree the Wright flyer looks great. Nice work on the paint and rigging.

I finished up the F-106. It seemed to sit a little low to me looking at picture in the Detail and Scale book so i lengthened the nose strut by 1/16 inch. I think it looks better. After I took the Pics I noticed my Angle of attack probe fell of. I'll have to replace it tomorrow.

Here's the noseart it's a mouse giving an eagle the finger.

I replaced the missles with ones from the Hasegawa weapons set.

When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

Very nice work on the 106.  I love the Michigan ANG markings on their 106 and F-4.  They are not nearly as attractive in the F-16 multiple shades of gray.

Progress report: F-106.

I have been in a slump for a little over a week and never did get the fusalage together. Only today I was able to get some work done on the landing gear and engine. I am hoping I will finish the model before the end of the month because I am moving to Kentucky at the end of March and dont want to pack it up unfinished.

I'm not sure if I posted this before...I'm in. I am doing the 1/24 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. Brands Hatch Green with white and gold flames and SCCA championship markings...gotta love it!

On edit: Since crossovers from other group builds are OK, Let me also include my Revellogram F-106 in 1/48.

Score!!! I just picked up the Monogram 1:48 B-17g!  And it wasn't on my dime!  Here's the story.  When I was in my teens I bought and built the 1:48 Monogram B-17g and hung it from the ceiling in my old room.  Just before Christmas two months ago My parents had a furnace cleaning company come into their house.  You can see where I'm going with this huh?  Sure enough, they knocked it off the strings from the ceiling and it smashed and broke.  My dad got after the company and they agreed to pay for a new kit!  and now I have it.  I also think the other one can be repaired so now I'll have two B-17s!   Big Smile [:D]

Duke, your Wright Flyer is spectacular!  mkhoot, your F-106 looks great!  I'm not one for jets but you build could change my mind!  Thumbs Up [tup]

My Titanic progress is slow.  I painted the hull 'red-oxide'. I now have to find the time to mask and spray it black then the white.  Slow and steady wins the race right?...

Perhaps I should explain my accident so others don't fall into a similar misfortune. Smile [:)]

You see I just got this F7F off ebay, so while I was waiting on the X-15, I started looking through the F7F box to make sure it was all there. Wouldn't you know it but several pieces were off the trees. So I thought, you know if I glue these together the loose pieces will be bigger and easier to find. Well it is a pretty simple kit so next thing you know it is about 1/2 done so I figured I might as well just do it for the build.

It is now actually connected to the X-15 build too, because I'm building the F7F as a 70's firefighting air tanker, the X-15's extra fuel tanks (which I was not planning to use anyway) turn out to be just about perfect as the basis for scratchbuilding the F7F's retardant belly tank.

I'll take some pics of my progress on both of these tonight and get them posted.

BTW awesome job on the F-106.

Here is where I'm at so far, ignore the paint on the Tigercat, I was just slapping some paint on it that will cover easier than the navy blue plastic.
