Hey are the nationals Frank mentioned the CAG attending a Model convention in England? Just wondering because I was awaiting an e-mail from an English company and that may explain the delay.

Of course knowing the CAG it may well be a bikini contest!

Roy I think you'll find that stuff handy once you get the practice with it! It behaves like real thick paint that dries really fast! So fast it gets a skin really quick and can get messy but You be sure to let me know how the Mr Softener works! I haven't tried that yet.  The Weekend Group build was compelling but I have fallen victim to many things going at once. I have no less than 4 tables full of stuff I need to finish and am starting to think I really need to get one thing done before starting another. ACK!

Afternoon, Mates!

Thelast couple of days have been plenty busy, but at least I've got stuff relocated! Here is a picture of the new bench:

Ok, ok, ok. So you can't see it. It's proven to be a mess, along with the rest of the new place. As you can see, I've got my work cut out for me. But I figure It all should be up and running in a week or two (depending on how my schedule works). But it looks like everything survived the move quite well, and i'm excited about getting settled in and at the bench! I'm still not quite sure what my submittion will be yet for the inaugural build here (as well as my submission for the FAW GB)

YEp, things are looking up!Cool [8D]

Warmest regards,

Roger

Nekid Kady? I really should know better than to post when I am so tired. Make a Toast [#toast]Laugh [(-D] Wow maybe I should make a decal of shirtless NAM in those black shorts and stick him on a B-17 or something.  Wonder what the name of the bomber would be?

Hmmm no photos yet from the BVD. Confused [%-)] I am fearing the worst that his high tech equipment has mutinied on the poor fellow with the durable elastic waist band. Either that of his hand is stuck in the guitar strings again. Dee probably ask him to play Jessies Girl! Headphones [{(-_-)}]

Dave! Missed ya ! Been looking at that incredible freehand airbrush job you did on that Italian Bomber! When I remembered it was 1/72 I really freaked out!

Roy I got all three in an order of the Mr Surfacer stuff. I can't tell a whole lotta diff between the 1000 and the 1200. The 500 seems to be the hot one for filling gaps extc. My suggestion would be One 500 one of the other and a rattle can of either the 1000 or 1200 as well. Having it in a rattle can really eases the finish job. I'm too chicken to airbrush the stuff though the tutorials say you can. Drys so fast and smells so good. Maybe that is what has happened to NAM's photos? I spilled a bottle of it once and cleared out the whole house the fumes were so stout! Dead [xx(]

Frank!!!!! Nothing to say..... just felt like screaming FRANK it's Friday!!!!! Time to be Freaky! Party [party]

Roy- I would get the 1200 and the 500.  I have all three, but have never used the 1000.  The 1200 works great as an overall primer, and the 500 is perfect for minor filling. Thumbs Up [tup]

Anyhow Roy that P-40N looks great and derserves a bow! Make a Toast [#toast]Bow [bow]Pirate [oX)] My tactic on the wrinkle would be to cover it with a half nekid kady nose art!

Thanks for the advice guys.

Frank, I'm glad you like this one.  I have been telling you about it for the past year or so.

Putting in an order to Sprue Brothers today.  Getting some of the Mr. Softener and which Mr. Surfacer should I get: 1200, 1000 or 500 ?  What works best or should I just get all three?

Roy- That is a sweet looking Hawk!  Excellent choice for markings too. Approve [^]

With those wrinkles, I would go with something a little more aggressive to pull them down.  Gunze Mr. Softer will really pull 'em down, just be careful with it if you decide to go that route.  It is very aggressive and if put on too heavily, it will tear the decals apart.  Just my My 2 cents [2c]

Wow Roy, that's some pretty cool nose art.  Don't think I've seen that one before.

As for the wrinkles I think its just that they weren't able to conform to all the curves on the aircraft.  What I usually do is very lightly cut a line along the wrinkle with a new #11 blade and then hit it with more solvent.  Maybe someone else here has a better solution though and can share it with you after they sober up from sucking beer out the Censored [censored] of a chicken.  Wink [;)]

Stole me' thunder, ye did!

Anyways no cutting. Microsol is just vinegar. Try a 50/50 water vinegar and brush a little on to see if that fixes the problem, which I cannot see.

Hello all,

I've been sick the past two weeksDead [xx(] but I may be over it now, I hope.  Anyhow, here's what I have been working on for the last few days.  I started this back in 1997.  It's the Mauve 1/48 P-40N.  It has been boxed all this time.  Here's what's left, the prop needs the yellow tips, nav lights, antenna wire, and the front wind screen needs attached.  I may even try to highlight the panel lines.  If you notice from the pictures the decal on the front is a bit wrinkled. If any one knows what caused that and how to (if possible) fix it.  I know this is not a FAA/NAW build but I wanted to share this with you guys.

Roy (Capt. Wyoroy FAAGB/USNFAWGB)
