Hi Guys. thought I'd better stick my nose in and let you know I'm still around. life's been a little caca for me for a few weeks but things are sorted now. I'll be getting on with my P38 SeaLightning right after Telford. Still deciding about the paint for this one. Fave at the mo is 2 tone blue and white USMC markings. Also considering a straight build for this one too.

All the best.

Ok gents, did a little web recon.

I recognized a couple of ladies from the last time I was there and the photos don't do them justice.  They even include a section for pics of the food.

Beer in cooking is great! I remember when I was on Guam, when we had shop BBQ's our shop chief would bring in marinated chicken. The main ingredient was several cans of Bud. Absolutely delectable!!!! The Bud in the coolers was for dousing th ecoals and drinking lol. Also you gotta love beer battered onion rings!!!!Dinner [dinner]

Never heard of that? I mean Beer at the BBQ with ribs, pork and beef maybe. Never saw it done with chicken except maybe to cool down the fire a bit. Bout as odd as I have got with a whole chicken is stb the little devil a bunch of times with an ice pick and then pour some canned peaches or pears inside( heavy syrup type) and then roast or cook it.  Supposed to be heart healthy but I think it taste pretty good and is simple and relatively cheap. Also with-in my limited cooking skills. Boil up some instant rice and or potatos and voilla! Steam up some veggie like asparagus or something. Candy some carrots and put some banannas, ice and OJ in the blender with a strawberry or 2 chop it up and ya got yerself a simple quick feast! Now I am hungry! Beer up rear part! BURP!

BBQing a beer up the butt chicken is one thing, at 200 degrees. Roasting it at 350, hmm could lead to interesting results. Wouldn't trust the paint on the can. BBQ Galore sells a dandy little wire rack thing that holds the can and the bird over it. Weird.

Thing is it only works after you drink off half the can, otherwise no-go. God I love this country!

Richie,

I just realized I didn't answer your query.  The restaurant in question is a place called Bone Daddy's.  The food's mainly Southern style comfort food, chicken fried steak and chicken, some seafood, and BBQ.  They even make a dish called Beer Can Chicken.  Basically they take a whole chicken, stand it up vertical, season it and stick a can of beer up its butt and roast it.  The heat causes the liquid in the can to boil and season the chicken from the inside out.  Haven't tried it yet, the CFS is too good.  There are a couple of locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  The Hooters girls just don't compare, don't know why.  Definitely needs further investigation.

Well I guess my timing was good! Glad to see ya back Darren!  Took a lot of time to reflect and remember today. Watched some TV which is rare for me but saw a lot of Veteran storys today. I like to think that young kid out there on guard duty in the middle of no where right now realizes how much they are appreciated. Looking back on it I don't think I worried a lot about it at the time I was doing it. Still Make a Toast [#toast] to them and all who cared to take a moment today just to give it a thought.

Darren- Thank you very much!  Hoping to get the wings on this weekend, as well as some more engine work.  Aaron provided Chukw some excellent HD pics over in aircraft, and Chuk used them along with some wonderful ingenuity to model some very nice cowl actuators.  Hoping to do something similar with mine. Thumbs Up [tup]

Again, thank you to all who have served, and are serving currently.  My thanks to you all! Approve [^]

Gentlemen,

many thanks for taking the time to remember our fallen, those who have served and those still serving today.

In the UK, we had ceremonies on Sunday and of course today. Again, I remarked what a high price has been paid for our freedom and how very, very proud I am of our forces.

Frank, Aaron.  I do have decent dental coverage.  But I get my teeth cleaned 3 times a year of which only 2 are covered.  My 13 year old daughter has braces which $1000 was covered by insurance but that still left $4000 for me to pay.  NOW THE BAD NEWS.  My 9 year old son was checked out by the orthodontist.  The first words out of his mouth were OH MY GOD!!! My first thought was that sounds very expensive.  I don't have to worry until he loses all his baby teeth.

I have had my share of teeth woes also.  WHen I was in high school I was hit in the face with a hockey stick and knocked out.  I had braces at the time.  wires and blood everywhere.  Trip to the doctor for 3 stitches.  Trip to the orthodontist to repair broken braces.  Trip to the dentist to repair cracked tooth.  Dentist told me if I didn't have the braces I would have been getting a new set of choppers.

Good luck to both of you.

All three of my kids went to the dentist today for their annual cleaning and check up.  One small cavity in the oldest boy, daughter got a clean bill of health, the youngest...  Sigh [sigh] is being referred to the orthodontist and may need braces. Sad [:(]  Could be worse, my brother's daughter had to have major reconstructive surgery on her jaw.  His insurance covered something like 80% but his bill was still over $10,000.  Yikes!!!

Roger, great news.  Hope to see some progress pics soon! Wink [;)]  Okay, we'll settle some pics of the new bench set up.

Well you ain't missing a whole lot on the insurance side. I am supposed to have one of the jobs with great insurance and yet not much is covered. Appointments intial wise and x-rays which do cost but once your over $1500 your on your own. So after today I'm just about used up and have nothing to show for it but a bunch of pics of bad teeth. I do feel your pain.

Reason I was picking on ya was where I am from you would be talking about replacing fillings. The cavity is the hole. So in a way it sounded to me that you were replacing the holes in your teeth. Nuk Nuk Nuk. Laugh [(-D] I know what you meant didn't mean to make lite of it. Or did I? Make a Toast [#toast] At least my antibiotics only cost me $10 Party [party] Heck we need to get together and eat a couple baskets of halloween candy!

Aaron- When I was a kid, I had a lot of cavities.  Unfortunately, my dentist at the time took some shortcuts, and now as an adult I find myself with NO dental insurance and some shoddy previous dental work.  Last month had a cavity replaced for $262, the month before that a root canal (that required a sencond at no charge!) that cost me $1037.  YIKES!  My fangs cost me as much as my truck did. Sigh [sigh]

Stay tuned... soon I'll have my grill in place! Big Smile [:D]

Frank I er know I am in pain but why exactly did you pay to have a cavity replaced?

Remember Oragel Maximum strength or nighttime. Kinda like the consistency of testers puuty. Taste like it too but it works and doesn't burn your tongue.

Many thanks fellas!  I really am glad you enjoy my work.  That's what keeps me doing it! Big Smile [:D]  Thanks for the tip on the Oragel Aaron, DEFINATELY gonna pick some of that up.  I have spent almost $10k on teeth in the last ten years.  Multiple crowns, cavity replacements, root canals, and the like.  I have hyper-sensitive teeth, and they give me fits!  Always hurt these days.  Didn't realize a lot of you were having similar issues.  Maybe next year, we can have a GB where we fabricate exact models of our teeth!  I have told Katie many times I plan to make myself a Platinum grill for my fangs.  You can imagine her reply on that one. Disapprove [V]

Nam- Great talking to you last night as always!  Katie busted my chops for a bit, but nothing I cannot handle.  I got pretty good at wrapping gifts last year, after spend 2 days wrapping almost 400 packages at work.  Gotta love retail at Christmas! Tongue [:P]

Roger- That's awesome news guy!  I really am happy to hear things are getting back to normal for you.  I bet you can't wait to be all moved in, and at home.  Soon my friend! Approve [^]

Well, off to the bench for some Corsair work. Thumbs Up [tup]

Way to go Roger!!!!! BENCHTIME, BENCHTIME RAH RAH RAH!!!!! Sorry Dee! lol

Lil bit of progress this wee hours am after work. Got the PE grills in the wing roots and top halves of the wings on my corsair put together. Letting it cure till when I get home in the morning. Then mount to the fuse and start surgery on the flaps. When flaps are off then I will tackle the fuse to wing joint and tidy that up.

I dunno Nam. Seems they have hired a GM to handle the paperwork just like selling cars. The level of treatment based on what you can afford or in my case what I am willing to pay as I am not into having teeth that cost as much as a new car that have no warrenty! Heck he even told me he stands by his crowns I told him he'd better cuz I aint paying for em!  Geeze.

I guess it wnt wrong when his 1st words to me were. My god aren't you in pain? I said yeah I'm here ain't I? He said  No I mean how do you stand it? I said what do you want me to do cry?

Then he looked at me in this afraid crazy kinda look and kept pulling back like I was gonna eat him or something.  Poor fellow needs to take some of that income and buy some manly pills or something. I dunno I mean I know I have been a social recluse in the Army an all but geeze do I really come across as some kinda axe murderer? The girls seemed ok though only problem they had is I couldn't fit in the x-ray machine. My shoulders are two wide or I was too tall and had to kinda swing on it. Very embarressing.

Who knows After that whole episode I am ready to give up on it. Thought I'd at least get a tooth pulled. Geeze no love.
