Well you can't beat it for that kinda price and I'll stand by the recommendation! I like books with lotsa pics and this one isn't published by Hugh Heffner!

Look at this fellow! 62 and joined the Navy in a war!

Photos that just speak to yoy. Lots of famous ones but there are so many I haven't seen. Little things like PBY hulls on jigs at the factory to check for water tightness extc.

I mean can you just see in our minds how this could be the GB crew here?

See I knew you could find it! ANd at a good price as well!  Really a cool book showing life at sea during the war. Even some partying sailors (imagine that)  The pics of this 60 some year old photographer hanging precariously on these ships is inspiring to me!

Maybe not what it means, but I imagine that was the jist of it!Wink [;)]

I'm sorry to hear about the dog Katie. It's not an easy thing when the family pet has to be put down (been there). I hope that your parents will be ok!

And Frank, the engine looks aweome! I guess I don't see the crankcase looking like a beheaded R2 unit (like Katie, as a former Star Wars afficianado, I'd hate to think of that meyhem)Shock [:O]Wink [;)]

Geeze Katie after all that I would say the fact that you could laugh just means that your the type person described in that quote! I'll be pulling for ya! Frank you better be nice to her!

Still I have no idea what LYMI means. We used to call British soldiers that all the time cuz they ate lima beans.

I looked on the internet to give credit to the right person and when I found the quote it said "unknown"  So I didn't look anymore...It could have been Twain.

As for needing to smile on Monday I had to travel to my parents (only 2 hours away) to help them put their dog to sleep.  This is hard to do normally but my father has very poor health and my mom has Alzheimer's so that made it much harder...Their dog (Sadie) was a dog a friend of mine rescued but couldn't keep so I brought her over to Mom & Dad's 8 years ago where she spent the rest of her life.  I don't know why but the R2 comment really hit me maybe because I was a huge Star Wars fan and had the action figures when I was a kid or because I think it really does look like R2.  Anyway thanks for letting me ramble and making me laugh!

Holy cow you just get better and better!

You know I almost made it a full day without being goofy in my comments but Nam messed it up for me.

I am glad Haligan got to smile today. You know I always thought that quote about the dog was from Mark Twain?

Many thanks fellas!  Glad you like my work. Approve [^]

Aaron- Thanks for asking, I'd love to share what I did!

Here's a photo of the crankcase before starting on it:

I shaved off the protrusions on the bottom that are there to represent what I think is an oil return line, in favor for a couple of styrnen discs punched out with the punch and die set.  I added a couple of straps on the sides that I saw somewhere in a reference photo, not sure where I saw it unfortunately.  The drainplug is another punched disc, and the square of Tamiya tape will be a manufacturers tag.  The wiring at the top is the wires and linkage for the magnetos, as well as some other bits.  I did not add every detail on the crankcase face, just enough to busy it up.  Here's a photo before painting and adding the magneto wires:

And, here's a photo with the plug wires and fully painted.  The manufaturers tag was painted black then some writing added to it with my trusty needle and silver paint:

As for the stick's new look, I wanted to dress 'em up a little so they matched the background a little better! Big Smile [:D]

(Actually, the sticks were too small so I added some tape to fill in the space!)

Spectacular Frank! Bow [bow]Make a Toast [#toast]

I can't let ya get off that easy though! I like adding details to my engines as well especially the radial types that really benefit from a little love!  I always wanted to get the crank case just so and now it looks like a great example has been dangled before me very eyes!

Could you? Would you be so kind to give a humble glue on the fingers amateur a detailed sequence of what you added where and what was used. Looks like punch and dye stuff.

Now if this is a secret technique or something you can just lie to me and I'll believe you just like a pretty girl! Thumbs Up [tup]

PS. Love what you did to your sticks! Thats a new look for you isn't it?
