Well Ritchie we'll do blondes next weekend! LOL !

Yeah Bill was cloned and I never made that connection to Swanny duh! I always sent Bloom County and Ziggy cards to the wife back in the day when I was a hopeless romantic! Npw I just give her a bottle of wine. Make a Toast [#toast] Notice she was quiet today. Make a Toast [#toast]Taped Shut [XX]Yuck [yuck]

I have imagined Frank at work. It is quite the ceremony. Things start spinning and he ends up in a whole different world using a large stone in the center as his bench. It's just one of those mysterys?

I always sent Ziggy cards cuz he never wore pants! Pretty obvious motives there!

I have been getting questions about the gift exchange so here are some suggestions;

1)  make sure the gift arrives before Christmas day 25 Dec 2008

2)  when your gift arrives at your place just post in the FAA/NAW GB that package has arrived

3)  please wait until Christmas 25 Dec 2008 to open package

4)  most of us may not have even built our last FAA gift, buy all means build and post here

5)  please do not have friends, family, dogs, who/what open package until 25 Dec 2008 (I'm sure noone will die from the wait (Frank may come close but a shot of rum and strong coffee should steel his nerves)

6)  please post pics of your gift

7)  you can add to this if you can think of anything I may have missed

if you wish to go ahead and open, well then it is your option, we're all adults.  I do wonder about someWink [;)]

I myself am eager for my gift to arrive, already I'm jazzedPropeller [8-]

If you need a mailing list of the group let me know.

CAG,

Thanks for clip, definitely one of the best Bond themes of all time.  For best Bond babe, I was gonna suggest Isabella Scorupco from GoldenEye but someone beat me to it.  I have a thing for Famke Jansen from the same movie, but Carol Bouquet from For Your Eyes Only has a special place in my heart as she was the first Bond Babe I saw on the big screen.  Besides being way hot, she could handle a crossbow like a pro, what more could a guy want?  Made it back from the State Fair with my GI tract intact.  When I said we fry everything at the Texas State Fair I meant it, there was even a booth selling chicken fried bacon.  If I'd been by myself, I would've tried it.

That's kinda like me as the Army usually only gave me 1 bullet to keep in my pocket. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Ok Roy after giving much MUCH thought to gift exchange, I do believe I have come up with the perfect gift for my said giftee! Think it will do the trick. Man this is the first time I have done this and it really had my mind bamboozled for a good day and a half!  I'll get it in the mail this week and sit and wait.

I'm new to the whole ediquet thing with this. I know we keep it a secret even after the package arrives. Are we building the gifts as a project here on the FAA? Do we open them at a specific time? Do we PM the sender when the package arrives so they know it got there ok?  Very unimportant questions that stir my curiosity!

Speaking of curiosity here is a picture of my gift I am sending out!

It is in a fairly large box that it was originally mailed to me  in while I was still in the Army.

How is that for a hint?  Do we partake in the torture of the unknown here? Evil [}:)]

Aaron, I went and looked up Hell's Angels after seeing it mentioned in the Aviator.  Heck of a Movie, not entirely accurate historically but lots of good stuff in it regardless.  Highly recommended to any aircraft buff.

As for Don Knotts, one of my all time favorite actors when I was a kid.

Isn't that a great movie! I mean when the zepplin scene and how they lighten the load? Just Crazy! The Girl friend is a great example of how sexy they dared to get before censorship!

Who doesn't love the Incredible Mr Limpet?

Been cleaning up a little.  Looked at my room wall with the Aircraft worked on this year so far. I know Frank cringes when he looks at them hanging but in my house it has proven safer to hang them up outta the way with a sturdy wire or string.

Yeah nothing better to do while pulling those long hours of guard duty in the middle of nowhere. I couldn't decide. Had to catagorize some what. Tried Hair color.  Some Brunette runners up from days gone by!

Any other nominees. I am afraid to think about the Blondes and red heads.

My brother sent me one called Hell's Angels by Howard Hughes. WW I stuff think Frank would love it! I enjoyed it more than Fly Boys because of the nostalgia and very real stunts no CA there.

Roger and Ritchie ( better known as R&R) I often think of holding an ageless, timeless beauty contest in my mind just to see the winners! My brother sent me one called Hell's Angels by Howard Hughes. WW I stuff think Frank would love it! I enjoyed it more than Fly Boys because of the nostalgia and very real stunts no CA there.

Frank don't worry bout them optivisor pics. You have the purdyiest eyes North of I-90 ceptin fer maybe Haligan. (not the dog) However we do need to speak about that hair gell! Cool [8D]

Roy! That is an AB holder isn't it! Been keeping my pin vise in it. May have to go your route but Hobby Lobby is closed today! ( not a bad thing at all)

Nam!!!!!  I have no issue with you starting early. Better get the GB bosses permission though. Heard that guy is a real character. I mean the start date could go from Halloween to Halloween and stick with the theme. Should be no issue as everyone still has the original time frame included to start later if needed. Lord knows I am raring to go!!! Blame it on me! I'll take one for the team! The Pearl Harbor GB? Everytime I post there I get an echo! Maybe it will liven up.

Wow you are a good friend. I know you have to set priorities but I was looking forward to your report. I have never been to a model show/ event. I know what you mean by time as the Army life wasn't very flexible to making such trips.  Time off was taken up by too many other things sadly.

Whew! Now I can say what I wanted to say .......

I do agree with you. I do often think that there are many times they could do without saying this, or showing that, etc. and not take away from the story. And having grown up in a relatively conservative household, I've seen alot of the older movies, and thus have a much deeper appreciation for them. John Wayne is a big favorite of my Dad's as well as Don Knotts too (The character of Barny Fife is nothing short of sheer genius!) Sure, there are some good movies that come out nowadays, but I'll be the first to agree that Hollywood does also put out alotta garbage too. But the saying that "Art immitates Reality" definately applies here- true, actors/actresses had more respect and honor back then, but I think that is probably true within human society overall. Of course, I wasn't there 50 years ago, but that's my observationBlush [:I]

Well since we are going back that far, how about her?

Clara Bow, a silent film starlett from the 1920's. She starred in the silent movie "Wings" as a WAC ambulance driver. I first saw the film because it had to do with AAS pilots in WWI (at the time, there really weren't many out there on the subject). I'd seena few other silent films before, but hands down I have to say that she was the prettiest one! Oh, if I were only 80 years older.......Tongue [:P]

Using the optivisor, I could see. But I have to tell you that using a needle for the really small details is nothing short of miraculous! I'm still of the opinion that having the very fine motor skills to accomplish such small details is nothing short of amazing, but I guess working as a goldsmith, it's all part of the jobBlush [:I] Still I say again........miraculous!

Nam, that commitment was made long before the PBY GB ever came about. By all means get started man!!!! When the PBY GB officially kicks off you will have a head start. At the very, very worst what will happen? You'll have to get another PBY??????????Shock [:O]Wink [;)] BUILD, BUILD, BUILD......and DRINK!!!!!!! Not necessarilly in that order.

Frankie! Simply beautiful work! I am sooooo jealous that you seem to budget your time so well!

I believe that I can approach your level of modeling, but can never string enough hours together to achieve it.

We had better get a couple B/W pics of this finished product or you will get a couple nasty PM's and a couple phone calls! Laugh [(-D]

I am forced to beg off SYRCON 21 alas! Heading out at 10 a.m. to finish work on my Buddy's house which must be done by Monday.

Also,.....I have an ethical question. I had committed to the Pearl Harbor GB with the pre-ordered PBY as my entry. Now after the late release of the kit....time on that GB is growing short. Is it okay for me to start THAT build for THAT GB and remain true to the PBY GB which I was conscripted, connived and cajoled into running? (Fairly serious question)

Frank, Those twins are looking great!!!!!!!!! No, not your big peepers in the optivisor, the Corsairs! Wink [;)] Lovely pics of the foilage as well!!!!! Arkansas is beautiful this time of year as well where mum and dad live. There is about a 1500' mountain just behind where they live and every year would make trips up there and look out over Hot Springs with all the colors. Not quite that colorful here in Oz. Where there is denser trees there is some color.

Aaron, I have to agree with you, Raquel all the way mate!!!!!! I mean that is truly age defying beauty!!!!Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P] Forgot to mention, I have a Betty Grable DVD I picked up called 'A Yank in the RAF'. I can honestly see why Betty was such a heart throb!!!!!Whistling [:-^]

On my Corsair, the idea didn't work. I actually had to seperate the vertical halves and push it out a bit with the x-acto blade. I also had scribed through the port rudder half to get a bit of relief on the cracks to push them out. When the damage occurred I immediately put liquid cement on the area. Doing so, I had glued the damaged bit to the opposite side. the glue had seeped through and bonded. Not a problem at all, just didn't realize it had done that. I had pushed a small allen key in and wondered why it didn't go very far. So I am going to completely seperate the rudder and have a bit more animation to it as well as try and repair the cave in a bit more. Two birds with one stone I say. Next is the wings and fill everythin necessary then sand the whole lot, fuse and wings, at once.

Tis still the weekend me 'earties, MORE RUM for the lot of ye's!!!! AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!Pirate [oX)] Ceptin' you raider, u can have root beer, sasparilla, or ginger beer. Then 'elp us to the racks, or bring the racks to us.

Thanks fellas!

Roger- Nope, no snow yet but it's getting to be that time.  WIll probably have it within the next month or so. Disapprove [V]

As for the cockpit, it is the kit cockpit with Tamiya tape seatbelts and map pocket.  Everything else is from the kit.  The instruments are hand-painted, using white oil paint and the tip of a needle.  Very tiny they are!  Thanks for asking, thinking that I used AM parts is quite the compliment. Approve [^]

And now, on with the picture show! Big Smile [:D] (Sorry Dave!)
