Thanks Bill and Mike!!!!Toast Bill i rigged the floats with the elastic thread stuff, can't remember what it's called there, EZ line??? Called knitting in elastic here. Great Stuff!!!! You can even split it and take the diameter down some. Wish I would have had this stuff when I rigged my Swordfish. You could literally put your thumb into it and just go oopsies and everything snaps back dead straight. Fairly strong stuff too!!!! The radio aerial is typical smoke colored nylon thread.

Those lil Stringbags are going to look great!!!! Looking forward to seeing them painted!!Toast

Bondo, I look forward to seeing the pictures this weekend, sounds like a really great project you've got going, those little swordfish are a bit scary small for me!!

Great job Ritchie! I like the weathering- just enough without being the so-often modeled worn-out look. I mean Japanese paint can't have been that bad! What did you rig her with?

Here's the little beast. No rigging here!

These are made by L'Arsenal. They've got Fulmars, Martlets, Corsairs, Avengers too. I think because both Airfix and Heller kitted 1/400 RN Carriers.

My primary source for ship stuff, although not my only one, is White Ensign Models.

Ahhhhh... that sounds like a very ambitious project!  And, with the 10 resin and PE Swordfish to boot.  Who makes those?  I am not familiar with 'em.

Speaking of the Sergeant-at-Arms, he spoke of some 1/350 Fulmars (I believe that's what they were) is resin and PE he got for one of his carriers, probably the same manufacturer.  I will watch for this one, as I don't see many carriers other than fleet carriers and the occasional Jap carrier.

May I ask why you chose the HMS Speaker?  Just curious if there is an attachment to that ship.

Gar, XO...(hic) I do indeedy I do. I'm being partook to... oh heck. I am starting a scratchbuild of a Ruler Class escort carrier. These were originally C3 freighter hulls that were built to Bogue Class CVE escort carriers and then passed to the Royal Navy per Lend Lease. The only manufactured part is the hull of the "Hawaiian Pilot" the venerable old Revell kit of a C3 in 1/400. Everything else is scratchbuilt. So far I've collected the Squadron "Escort Carriers in action", a book called "Royal Navy escort carriers" and a full set of plans of CVE-36 USS Bolinas (HMS Nabob) from Floating Drydock. Although I do think mine may be HMS Speaker.

I have glued deck to hull. BTW the hull/deck were given to me by my good friend Fred "Onyxman".

A shopping list is in creation, twin 40mms, multiple 20mms and an Air wing of ten little PE/ resin Swordfish.

I'll post pics this weekend.

In salute and the men are cleaning their shirts, Sir. But where the Hell is that Sergeant-At-Arms?

Thanks Richie!  Yep, got some of these little birds on the bench at the same time as their big brothers.  Helps keep me focused on the long term projects (read: every build I do!!!) to have smaller ones I can crank out fairly quickly.

Daywalker

Right!  Good to see you out and about Sir.  It has been a bit quiet of late around here.  Still, there still are a few of us on board to keep the ship ready for duty should the need ever arise.  I hope you do not mind, but I changed the title in this post from "decommission" to "reserve".  If it is alright with you, I have an F/A-18 and an F-14 to build starting sometime this week and will post WIP pics here.

Thanks Chaps!

I'm still not sure I like the new FSM decor, however our X/O suggested I have a quick look around. I don't have a lot of spare time these days, so builds are completed at a slow pace.

I'm currently working on a 1/35 diorama of British Paratropers in Arnhem, a 1/48 RAF Typhoon F/A.2 and some sci-fi projects that all began last year. Each one gets worked on as and when time allows. I do miss our merrymaking , I will try to pop in more often.

Hope all of you are happy and well. Good Health and Good Hunting!

chester101

Wow, is this group build still going?

I don't know if you  guys remember me, but I was part of the very first FAA GB. How is everything going?

Well, sort of.  A lot of the crew left last December when FSM changed the forums.  There are still a few of us here, however.  Of course I remember you!  I also remember that I had your name for the first gift exchange, and the USS Indianapolis I gave you was the only one of the gifts finished!  I liked it very much.

LOL, sorry Jason!

You'll need to hunt down Darren (Tango1) to update page one.  I think he pops in over at Swanny's, though I do not know for sure.

Thanks Gents.

Ths was the Hasegawa 1/48 kit.

Frank- I just wanted to make sure I finished an aircraft for this group build, I have been apart of it since I joined FSM and had not finished anything for it. So now I have something finished and can get it updated on the main page...lol.

Cheers & Semper Fi-Jason
