Thanks Travis, glad you like her!

FINISHED AT LAST!!!  That's right, only 16 months to do it.  That includes redoing all of the seams when the CA glue filler sank into them, then a botched paintjob, and finally done!  I honestly thought this kit was going to beat me in the end.  I am not 100% happy with the weathering, but it'll do this time around.

Still trying to figure out how to position it so I can get a good shot of the completed bottom.  Hope to get that sorted out in a day or so!

Still cannot believe it's done, time for a drink!

Looks great Daywalker. I especially liek the paint jig you made. Very creative. Can't wait to see her finished.

Fighting to finish this one by year's end!  Have done most of the weathering, including exhaust stains, cordite stains, chipping, etc.  Just adding all of the fiddly bits now, and hope to have it done soon!

Unfortunately my camera batteries decided to die on me so there are no pics of the kit Dave sent me.  However, if such pics did exist they would show a divine scale P-38J from Academy in ETO markings.  Now this is a fine kit in and of itself, however, Dave decided to improve it by including a set of Eduard photo etch seatbelts and a Super Scale decal sheet for additional markings.  Dave has presented me with a challenge as I've never finished a P-38, never done a plane with full invasion stripes or used pe seatbelts in a plane before (I have used them in car kits).  Thanks Dave, I hope you and yours had a very Merry Christmas.  By the way, my sister had fun trying to decipher your address and the stamps used were pretty cool.

Richie, enjoy building the Beaufighter.

I received this really neat BMW 327 from somebody, but either in my haste to open it I lost the note of who sent it, or they left off that bit of info.  So I will say thanks, as you know who you are.   I've been thinking about getting one of these little 1/48 jewels and will construct it forthwith.  Would you expect less of the ADMIRAL!!!

Merry Christmas all, and a big thank you to Roy for doing all the work it took to put this together.

TANGO 1

Gentlemen,

it is with regret that I write these last words on this once great site. The recent changes here weather I like them or not are here to stay. The simple fact is that most of us just cannot get on with the new site and we were no longer felt happy posting here. Things change. People move on. That is what I and others here have chosen to do.

As many of you already know, the FAA GB has now moved to another  forum. We are now hosting the Fleet Air Arm  SIG. over at Swanny's models.

http://www.swannysmodels.com/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=FAA

This is our new home and I hope we will see you there for more models fun and friendship. PirateToast

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you who made this GB such a great experience here, thanks for all the great builds, the laughs and the comradeship.  We were this sites longest running and most popular GB with over 216,448 hits, 698 web pages and 10,459 posts.

I would also like to thank the FSM staff and owners for giving us a place to hang out and for the use of their forums. We had three great years and I will not forget them. I will miss being here.

So for the last time I wish you all good health and good hunting. CHEERS! Toast

Goodbye.

Sorry to see you go CAG!  Just won't be the same around here without all of our shipmates.  LCDR Buddy- I couldn't have said it better myself.

It is with great regret to see so many shipmates leave as the seas are beginning to calm.  I know I've been quietly riding out the storm in email land as the ship was tossed about, but the damage control teams have got her back under control and she seems to returning to normal (or somewhat normal for this motley crew!)  Hopefully those of us who remain will keep your seats in the mess open for when you someday return.

Thanks guys for the kind words... Jeaton, I agree its not about a perfect model, but I think there gets to be a level where I'm satisfied with the quality (despite the errors) and with the last few I think I've got there. Anything more is icing on the cake. I think its been a blast participating in this GB as well as forums despite the problems. For some reason the FAA speaks to me and I can see of the builds I have planned for next year, at least half are probably going to end up in this thread. Frank you deserve special mention for your help; I still open up the PM you sent me on Future each time start on my gloss coat.

Secret Santa Sitrep.  Got my package yesterday-FINALLY.  Seems it was delivered before Thanksgiving and I didn't get to my mailbox quick enough.  The Posties didn't deem it necessary to tell me they had it until this past Tuesday.

John, thanks for the reply about the white stuff, I will keep it mind when I next need to spray some. Keep the pictures coming.

Neu, the corsair came out really well and great to see you trying new techniques, love the last photo showing your finished builds this year, very very nice.

It is a little quiet around here, I dont think the very slow load of these GB pages helps, just hope it gets better soon.

Chin up Aaron if your reading and hope your back soon.

Cheers...

I'm like a mortgage, not going away anytime soon. I just wish it didn't take so long, esp. this GB which sometimes takes almost a minute to load.

Neu- Excellent stuff, nothing quite like seeing another Corsair here!  I was fortunate enough to be up close and personal with this machine this past summer.  I like your photo with your collection, I do remember a few of those, the 109 included. Toast

jeaton01

That's what keeps me going.  What would I do next if I made the perfect model?

John- I couldn't agree more.

It is pretty quiet around here with so many members gone now.  I do hope they find their way back someday.
