Fleet Air Arm Group Build

I will have the details for the Secret Santa Christmas gift exchange in October.  That should give everyone time to think of and secure a gift for their person. In the mean time PM your full name, mailing address and kit pref i.e. scale, genre, era what not.  I'll start putting together a mailing list like I did last year.  Details to follow.

Now on to Alex's first kit.  He picked Revell's 1/48 P-40B (it has a shark's mouth).  If your a rivet counter you need to go play somewhere else  For the colors I suggest what they should/could be then he does what he wants.  If its good enough for a five year old it's good enough for me.  The goal is to get him to like doing it and most of all he is having fun.

I showed him how to cut the parts from the tree and I cleaned them up for him.  He wants to use an airbrush to paint the cockpit.  I will help with that  I have to say that he is enjoying it and keeps asking if the paint is dried so he can do the next color, blue helmet with gold goggles  To be five again...........

Alex got to use an airbrush for the first time with the help of dad.  He sprayed interior green for his P-40.

 Roy / Alex -  Terrific pics, Alex looks like a natural using the airbrush. I am also quite envious of his figure painting skills..  Looking forward to more progress pics of one of my most favorite Airplanes

Today is my Dad's 90'th Birthday.

He spent 23 1/2 years Serving the US Navy. He was on the Commissioning Crew of the Battleship BB-56 USS Washington and spent most of WWII on that ship.

But of course he seems to be enjoying his time there

After the War he went to Diving as it was considered "Hazardous Duty" and paid an extra $15.00 a month..

Dive School Class # 5 wow, that was just the beginning...

Dad is Top row far left, he always wore his Cap crooked to the side.

 This was according to him the of a  box of "Useless Stuff" he wanted me to have

So what does a retired Master Chief do in his free time now

Spend time sitting and smoking with a stray friend that moved in on the ranch

On the FAA Corsair was the inside of the wheel wells are they Int. Green or the underside color?  This includes landing gear.

 Alex painted the rest of his cockpit.  Lots of orange, silver, black and even some clear red.  I post some pics later.

Right Chaps, an update form your CAG............

Firsh off hall.........well done to all thu crew for shay-ling on this merry mission! I av brought shum more rum on board and because I couln'd find any of you, I have made a shaart on the barrell.....ish very good shtuff y'know!!

In fact, one is so plastered that I seem to being seeing three bond girls in my cabin! I say! Good Show!!

Well, chaps I have had a horrendous tour at work and I am glad to be at home with my family, after some quality time with them I have managed to escape to the bench for some downtime and a few beers. I have no recent pictures, but so far I have put all the decals on my Hawk and all the add-on bits are now painted. Just a few details left to do on the canopy and I should have that one finished.

I have also done a little more work to the Arnhem dio that some of you have been following, I have ordered some more detail pieces and I am still adding paint to my figures......this one is a slow cooking project..........so it will be all the more rewarding when its done.

So I am thinking about my next project...............I have quite a few FAA birds in the stash, not sure which one to pick next- what do you chaps think of when someone says Fleet Air Arm?

I will go through my stash and see which kits catch my eye! More updates later if I am sober enough to operate my camera!
