AAACCCKKK!!!  I'm here!  Not a lot of progress on the Corsair, just tidying up the fuselage seams.  I'll get some pics this weekend, promise!

Darren sounds like you did well at Cosford, I went myself, was dipping my toe in the water as I've not been before, really enjoyed it and got to see some great builds. Spent a little myself but just odds and sods, no kits.

Look forward to your update, saw a couple built yesterday and it looks smashin!

Well my Graf Spee has taken front and center on my work and paint bench the past few weeks. I am nearing teh finish line and trying to knuckle down on her to get it completed in the next few weeks.

Good to see you are still around Stikpusher, I'll look out for your Graf Spee.

Ok so i figured i've been lurking around here too much and need to join but a couple of questions first....

How long do i have to finish and what rank will i obtain once finished???

I have an Airfix 1/48 Seafire in the stash and i think it's the Mk24 with the counter rotating prop, don't know for sure my garage flooded recently and the decals/instructions were destroyed....

Firstly, this is a relaxed GB...........take as long as you need! Secondly, you can be whatever rank you like!  Its sounds like you have the 1/48 Airfix Seafire FR-47. Lovely kit.

Sorry to hear about your garage, its happened to me as well so I feel your pain. I'm sure if the rest of us get our heads together we can rustle up some replacement decals. Please be sure to stop by Page.1 of the GB to see the Rules and Reg's.

aboard Julez!  This has to be the most relaxed and fun GB you will find here.  That Airfix Seafire 46/47 is the first kit I built for this GB, and it really is an excellent kit.  Only suggestion I have is to replace the rear sliding canopy, as the one supplied in the kit sits too high on the fuselage spine and looks odd.  As for replacement decals, they seem to be rather difficult to find in the AM market.  Aeromaster made a couple of different sheets with markings, but sadly they are all OOP and occasionally pop up on Ebay.

I had a peek at page one, i rejoined just after the forum change but i remember quite a few of the old guys from when i was active between 04 & 06, sadly many are missing and i understand in an odd way, it doesn't seem to have the same sort of vibe in here as it used to....

Hey it was good to see Ricks builds on page one, when he finished a kit and posted pics it always made me want to stop weathering and go for that superclean look....

OAlright the Seafire 47, i'm not concerned about the instructions, i think i can manage without them but i may need some advice regarding the wing fold and the specific colours, i'll do the one with a two tone scheme and black/white stripes. I'm thinking starboard wing folded only so the office is clearly visible...Decalsthe FAA roundels for the period look identical to the ones used on RAAF P-51's in 1947/48 and are available here but the rest, well, i may have to beg....

the kit is pretty good so far. The assembly is well thought out and the kit gives one lots of build options. The fit is good, the surface detail is well done and there are some nice weapons and decals in the box. When you consider how much Airfix are asking for this kit, its great value.

Julez- Yes, I would go for the vacuform hood.  Squadron makes one, and it is what I used on mine.  Also, mine had a short-shot on the windscreen, and it had to be replaced.  Luckily, I was building the Mk.46 and Darren was building the Mk.47 so he gave me his windscreen as the two are different.  Hope that helps!

I received a signal yesterday from Admiral Rick, and unfortunately he will not be able to join us on this cruise as he has been given a desk job on the mainland.  I will certainly miss you here Rick!

Frank, I checked squadron out and found a Falcon set of canopys for most of the Spitfire Mks for around $25, including the low hood for the Mk1 with the 2 bladed prop which i;ve always wanted to do...Hopefully the falcon sets include the windsheild because i seem to have lost mine....I may give Falcon a call they're only across the Tasman in NZ....

It's a shame Rick is missing this cruise, was looking forward to building with him again.....

Nice work Stikpusher, I nearly ordered a ship myself but bottled out, some bits are just to smallllllllll.

Gonna miss Admiral Rick, never built with him although I've seen some of his great work, even got myself an AZ Firefly after seeing his Grand Pheonix one.

Glad you guys like the Graf. I have a WIP thread over in the ships forum on her if you care to pop in to take a look there. I do have the perfect ship kit for this GB that I picked up mid winter when it was on sale. The new Airfix 1/350 HMS Illustrious. But I want to get a few more ships under my belt before I attempt to tackle that beauty! My Harrier will do for now for an FAA subject...

Attention Chaps!

CAG is currently in the sick bay with a shoulder injury so he is not on active service at this time. The pain plus happy pills have rendered him quite unable to build at the bench with any degree of logic.

X/O  will be on shore leave for a while due to work and family issues. He need's some time to himself so let's respect our friends wishes.

So be patient chaps and normal service will resume in due course.
