Kia Ora & Greetings  Guys & Guyesses

I have been following this forum on and off for a while, as i prepare to build the 1/32 Trumpeter MK1 Swordfish (a very unexpected birthday gift from my family). I have now decided to risk the wrath of the Admirals and dip a toe....

If I may I would like to ask a lot of questions of the learned gentry regarding a detailed build of a Swordfish mk1 from Taranto, I would like to build Charles Lambs bird, Q Queenie from memory.

Cheers and Thanks in advance

Jafa, good luck on the swordfish. I built this wonderful machine last year and with a bit of love can turn to a nice kit. The biggest problem I had was the PE wing braces. You may want to take this VERY carfully and shorten them with  losts of test fitting. Even with this problem it still builds to a hell of a (big) kit.

My biggest problem so far is trying to find a weapon set to suit, Charles Lamb did not carry a torpedo on that raid, so I am looking for weapons racks, bombs and flares. I think I will try and get the MK2 weapons which should be the same EXCEPT the rocket rails I think

Cheers

Well my modeling absence just took another hit.  On Oct 29 we had a freak snowstorm which dropped 10 inches of snow in my area.  The real heavy wet stuff.  Most of the trees still had leaves and branches started snapping like firecrackers.  Lost power for 6 days.  Basement flooded because of no power to the sump pump.  Guess where my modeling desk is.  No damage to any of my stash or tools.  Just have to dismantle everything to fix the damage in the basement.  Carpet and sheetrock.  Should be back up and building again at New Year. This may be of special interest to bondoman and aaron (sfcmac)

When I was building my Swordfish, one of the diorama ideas I had was to pose it on the Illustrious' catapult rather than a deck display.  But I couldn't find a good picture of the catapult in all my sources.  Then, when researching the Walrus today, I came across this YouTube video.  Go to minute 0:58 and watch for the next 10 seconds.

Of course it is too late now on my Swordfish project as it is complete but if I ever do another Swordfish, I might use this as inspiration.

The longest running GB here I think, even if it is currently dormant.

I'm glad you resurrected this thing. I wouldn't mind getting on board. I have a couple of things in the stash that I could nominate, but I think I'll shop around for something that tickles my fancy.

If you haven't visited the completed builds on page one, it's well worth the effort.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I'll do a Hasegawa 1/72 Sea Harrier FRS 1. It will be a pair to the Italeri one I'm doing for the Falkands/Malvinas GB. I'll also get a first hand look at a comparison of the two kits.

Cheers

Bloody Hell, new format again?

Just signing in to see if I am even able to post here anymore.  Looks VERY different.

I see over in General Discussion that bondoman has been banned?  What the hell happened?

Yeah I am happy to be over there, and see you and Harv there. I am doing pretty good lately. And now that my anti virus allows me access to the forums there agin I will be posting more. Especially since you can post more than big scale aircraft builds.

There are a couple of others that stop in there from time to time, won't mention names in the open forum as I don't want to get anyone in trouble here. Wink
