Thought I'd add another aircraft to my list to build here, the Airfix 1/48 Seafire 46/47.  It's the one I'm gonna build for next months Spitfire GB, thought I might post pics of it's progress here as well.

Nice one Frank, I recently picked up the same kit and thought it would be a good idea to builld it here and share it on the Spitfire GB as well. It will be good to compare notes!

Any idea which markings you will use?

Cool!  I think you should build it here and at the Spitfire GB as well!  I really want to build the 46, without the folding wings.  The vacu-form canopies I picked up from Squadron are for the 47 (different front windscreen), but may use the kit front with new rear piece.  The decals in mine are pretty much un-usable, the yellow is so far out of register that the "1" of the "104" decal is completely off of the decal!  Not sure what I am going to do about it yet, may end up masking and painting the markings on it.  Which one are you gonna build?

Roy, I think that with all the overseas shipping that might be involved (England, Australia etc.)you should bump up that deadline a bit as parcels should be in the mail around Dec. 1st to arrive in time.  Unless you can somehow orchestrate it so that peolple in similar locales exchange with each other and cut down on shipping costs.  Just a thought.

Sounds like a good idea.  What is everyone has there exchange name by Mid November, say the 15th?  That would give everyone a few weeks to shop and have it in the mail by December 1st.  Do we need to set a max. price?  Any and all ideas will help.

If there is going to be shipping between countries, I would lean towards getting packages out no later than the last week in November. A good time to have everyone signed up would probably be the beginning of that month, which would leave ample time to shop. As far as price limits, I think whatever one can comfortably afford without going overboard, as the holidays and the subsequent cold weather do have a tendency to thin out the bank accounts and wallets a bit. Plus, identical items can vary drastically in price depending on where they are purchased.

Can we also submit a preference as to scale and subject material with our names that can be forwarded on to the person buying the gift?  You should check out the secret santa GB that they did last year.  they had some pretty good ideas on how to handle the exchange.

I wanted to build the Korean War version with the invasion stripes but I don't trust the box decals.......built the same kit and version years ago and it looks terrible! I am trying to hunt down an aftermarket sheet, failing that I will paint the markings on. I'll post progress here and on the Spitfire GB.

Yes, I've actually done some modelling! Here is the latest on my Corsair. I got the weathering done all over, started some of the detail painting, attached the landing gear and added the prop.

Here's how she looks now....

I've also masked up the canopy, I'll get round to adding the fiddly bits next time I'm in the workshop.

I got a 1/48 Academy Mk.IX Spitfire with a fantastic set of AM decals, a 1/48 Hasegawa Zero for a ten quid (thats about five bucks) and some very nice colour PE for my Mk.IX Spitfire which I'll be completing for the Spitfire GB.

Not bad at all!

I can't see the images, all I get are the dreaded red X's.

Dave, I read the way they did the exchange and I think I will adopt the same approach.  I will put it all together and post sometime this week or weekend.

i need some help with my corsair`s marking. i cant find the right one`s so i`m going to have to paint my own but i have no idea where to start.

Alain, here are some FAA decals from Squadron.  There are a few Corsairs markings in the list.  It also has a few masks to paint your own.

Alain, I did the search option in the Flightdec website for FAA and it produce 10 plus hits.  You may very well find what you are looking for.  Frank would also be the one to talk to about painting markings.  The Zero he did turned out pretty sweet.
