Thanks Roy!  I appreciate that.  Gotta admit, hinomarus are about the simplest markings to mask. Wink [;)]  Mike really saved my backside with not only a replacement set of markings, but the markings of the plane I was trying to do in the first place!  Thanks again Mike!

Alain,

For round markings, an OLFA cutter (similar to an adjustable compass with a blade) really works well once you get the hang of it.  I cut dozens of circles until I had a set that looked good to me.  For straight lines, code letters, and such, 'bout the best way I have found is to find a scale drawing of the markings you want to use, and make a copy of them so you can lay a piece of frisket film (from an artist supply store) and cut through the frisket following the lines from underneath on your copy.  Now peel the backing off of the frisket film, and you have a mask that you can use for painting.  Hope this helps!

Darren-

That Corsair is looking sweet!  I  like the way you dirtied up the underside, really has that abused look.  Did you use washes for that?

Thanks for your kind words fella'sThumbs Up [tup]

Frank,

I used a mixture of washes and some drybrushing for the weathering. The panel lines were done with a lightened black watercolour wash and the staining was done by drybrushing raw sienna onto the glossy surface then wiping it off in the directon of airflow.

I like how its come out, I'm hoping it shows through the dull coat when its finished.Blush [:I]

Dave, Sorry to hear about that.  Thank God that you and your family are OK.  I know how you feel; I myself have been a victim of robbery.  In my case they caught the person, a student at the middle school I was teaching at.

Sorry to hear that. It is rotten news. Hopefully they are able to find who did it and get your stuff back.

Dave sorry to hear about the break in.  I really do hope the cops manage to track down the low-life that took your stuff. Unfortunately though the chances of this happening are low as I found out a few years ago.

Darren I know I'm a little late with this but the Corsair looks fantastic, great job Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks for your comments guys, I too doubt we'll ever see our stuff again but you never know.  Yes, there is insurance but really other than the camera not much else of "ours" was taken.  Not sure if its worth making a claim and taking a hit on our claims free status.  Unfortunately we also have a foreign exchange student living with us who had a lap top and another camera taken.  We'll have to sort everything out between the insurance and the agency that brought her here.

Roy, interesting you should mention the student being responsible for your break-in.  My wife is just finishing up her teaching degree (retraining after 16+ years as a musician) and to balance out the bad with the good we also found out today that she for sure has a TOC position (Teacher-on-call) and still has a shot at a full time position as well.  I think we need to buy her a new digital camera to celebrate! Clown [:o)]  I'll make sure I tell her about your experience and tell her not to mention to her students where we live!

Dave, getting you wife a camera as a gift would be great.  Make sure it's better than the one you lostBig Smile [:D]  As for teaching, never ever give out your address and home phone to students.  Again I'm glad no one in your house was home when it happened.

On a side note what will your wife be teaching?

Roy, she was a professional violinist with a symphony orchestra for 16+ years so naturally she'll be teachiing music and will also teach social studies.  Yes I'm glad no one was home and that no one got hurt.  Things can always be replaced.

Dave-sorry to hear about the break in & theft.  Glad that no one was hurt and the losses were minimal.

Just got back from vacation (left the internet on Sat. June 9-or 9 June, depending on which continent you are on) and a lot of catching up to do.

Hey fella'sPirate [oX)]

I managed to get a lot done today! I did a display base for my Corsair and it has been dull coated and had some fiddly bits added. I also got the last coat of paint of the canopy too so I am hoping to be able to finish this build this weekend.Thumbs Up [tup]

I am still working on the F-15C as well and it is coming along nicely. When the Coarsair is done I will turn my attention to my Seafire 47. and start preparing for the Spitfire GB.Wink [;)]

Darren, sounds like you've been quite busy, my friend! I love the display bases you build for your models...they really provide some added perspective and realism to the subjects and make them more appealing to the casual viewer as well as to the experienced builder - sort of like 3-D photos of the real thing. Can't wait to see some pics!

I wasn't sure when Canada had their Fathers Day.  In Germany it was last month.  I wonder about England and Australia?

This really has nothing to do with anything, but I found (well, actually, my wife found the shell) a shell at the beach that resembles WWII German mottle.  Submitted for your approval....

Cool Bob, looks like some sort of Luft' 46 experimental prototype!  Either that or a remnant of a Nazi genetic experiment. Wink [;)]
