I can do IP but painting a figure is another issue. I am not sure I am able to do it Sad [:(] I think you have to have those  other skills ... besides technical Smile [:)]. I am anm engineer so do not expect from me to be an artist Big Smile [:D]

I have few figures, maybe I will try ... someday. Always think the diorama with pilots and gound cre is above my reach Sad [:(]

Katie,

You're welcome! Thanks for the compliment on my pilot! I think it's worth a try!

Tango 1,

WOW!  The detail and paint job is top notch.  I can see that I am running with the big dogs on this GB.  Thanks for letting me be a part of it.

Greg,

Thanks! Since the detail level isn't so great on this model, I feel that the pilot is needed to fill the void! Smile [:)] It's painted with citadel colors and took only a few hours to do. I used mostly basic techniques, starting with a base color, then adding shadows with a wash. Then I started dry brushing with brighter and brighter shades, with lighter and lighter strokes, although some of them was deliberately painted with a fine pointed brush. Then you can use a wash/filter to make it a bit more even.

Haligan,

Very nice looking pit!

Cheers,

Azgaron

I worked on my Spitfire cockpit today, and finished most of it up.  I also glued the fuselage halves together and am soon going to sand the seams.  Here are some photos of it so far:

This model is so much more detailed than the Zero I built!

nice paintjob on the pilot Smile [:)]. I found it more difficult so I always place more focus on the cockpit and remove the pilot Smile [:)] I do not have this artistic touch for figure painting skills.

Nice paint job, Darren!

I was away during the weekend on a build meeting and exhibition, of course I spent some money, but I got a little built on my Spit too! Smile [:)]

I noticed that the canopy was made with the intention to be cut open and posed in open position, leaving the rear part somewhat small so there will be a small step from the canopy to the spine.

Cheers,

Daz I'm sorry but I can't comment on the Seafire at the moment because the link to the pics seems to be broken.

All, I came across this item yesterday and did a jump for joy, to quote the blurb from the text "Here is the coming SH48051 Spitfire Mk.VC model in 1/48 scale. Kit will be from the galvanic form and it will be available in spring 2007. There will also be the Seafire Mk.II and Mk.III in the same scale."

I presume galvanic form is referring to some sort of low pressure injection moulding but I'm not too sure to be honest Dunce [D)]

I have been waiting for a decent Mk.Vc Spitfire for sooooo long now its ridiculous Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Greg.Thumbs Up [tup] I have no idea if the colour is the same as Gladych's T-bolt, a lot of people have built this airframe in a "midnight blue" scheme. I did some research and commander Hamiltons wife who was deployed with the RAF, said that her husbands Seafire was actually painted black.

I painted my model with a hint of blue as I thought it was more attractive-the funny thing is that the shade appears to change from very dark blue to black depending on the angle you view the model. How I managed that I have no idea............but I like it!Wink [;)]

NICE paintjob !

Is it the same paint Gladych used on his Thunderbolt to match his toxido color ? Smile [:)]

Good show old chap!

In the meantime, here's a peek at my on-going Seafire Ib project. This is the 1/32 Revell kit and I'll be finishing her in the markings of Cmr Hamiltons personal flight, an all-black scheme with a white flash along the fuselge. I've used some artistic licence here and mixed a shade of black/blue enamel to paint the airframe.

Here is how she looks so far...........

Thanks Darren!

Yes, it's a nice stand, and for once I'm going to use the stand. I usually build my planes with legs down.

The ONLY modeling I do is for Group Builds, I honestly cannot remember the last kit I built that wasn't for a GB on this or another site.  I'm not complaining mind you it's just that I'm addicted to Group Builds.
