Very cool Roy!  Look forward to seeing how she comes out.

I finished putting the wing on my Mk.I this morning, before going out to run the Censored [censored] snowblower again.  I am off today, but got a call a while ago saying I need to go in for a bit later today.  Bummer. Boohoo [BH]

Just started making the Speed Spitfire. I have now built and painted the interior in green and will be painting the rest of it later tonight and tomorrow.

I have been able to find some drawings of the aircraft and i have been able to scale it up to the correct dimensions for being able to cut down the wings to the shorter span. I will be ordering the canopy from Hannants as soon as i can, i will also be getting the decal sheet from them.

The only problem i am having at the moment is finding the correct propellor for it, i need a 1:48th scale 4 bladed wooden prop. Can anyone help me here?

Here is what I mean, hope this helps. As we look atb the trailing edge from the top of the airframe, we see that the camo pattern is there. This pic should show what I'm on about.....

So if I understand your answer, as I'm looking at the trailing edge I see the top camo colors?

Roy,

I'm always happy to help you out, but I don't quite understand your question. If you mean what I think you mean, then the top colour (camo pattern) goes all the way to the edge. If I've got it wrong-feel free to shout at me.Wink [;)]

I posted a build report too.

It's the Airfix 1/48 Mk. I kit- very enjoyable build. Neat to have that two-balded prop.

Here's a few pics..... more in the build report:

Update on my Spitfire:

Was in the process of masking for the top camo when I noticed that the trailing edge of one of the wings had split open.  Nothing a little Tenex couldn't fix.  Will give it a go in the morning.

Does anyone out there have a good photo of the brake line setup on the early Spitfires?  Having a hard time trying to find a good reference pic. Sigh [sigh]

Roy,

For that light on the bottom of the fuselage, I believe it's a formation light.  Here's an image from a walk around over on Prime Portal:

Excellent site for references, take a look when you get a chance.

As for the wheel, here's an image of an early 5-spoke Spitfire wheel:

Hope that helps.  Well, I'm off to run the snowblower now... Grumpy [|(]

I have another question for the Spirfire experts?  On my Revell MkII the point where the wheel attaches to the strut has a hole there.  Should there be a cap or a square nut where the hole is in the center of the tire?

On the bottom of the Spitfire near where the trailing edge of the wing and fuselage meet is something that looks like a light?  Is it that and if so what color are they?

Thanks again Darren!  I read about the technique over on Hyperscale, but can no longer find the article.  They were so quick to make, I felt kinda guilty like I should have spent more time with them.
