Well, the first one lasted 23 years, and the current one is going on 15 years.  Since all the grandkids are from my side of this one I think I'm in pretty good shape!

According to the first one, if I hadn't been gone flying all the time she would have tossed me out sooner!  Is that a first?

Okay all, here it is, almost 1 year in the making (I started it last July for the Allied Aces GB).  It is the Hasegawa 1:48 Spitfire Mk.IXc.  I did it in the marking of the Aircraft Fl/Lt Doug Lindsay flew on July 3, 1944 when he shot down 3 Bf-109s for his 4th, 5th and 6th victories making him an Ace.  He ended the war with 7.5 victories, all flying with RCAF 403 sqdn.  I plan on giving it to him as he is alive and well in Red Deer Alberta.

Enjoy, I know I did! comments welcome and encouraged

Darren- Jon was kind enough to send me a new set of decals to replace the bad ones in my Mk.46 box (Thanks again Jon!) and the only ones from the kit I am going to use are the stencils.  If you need any of the invasion stripes, Mk.47 code letters or roundels as replacements, you are welcome to mine!

Daywalker, dude you must listen to these guys, I've been married for 9+ years and I totally agree, put a ring on her finger for gosh sakes!

I have a progress update on my year long Spitfire build...

FINISHED!!!!

Pics will come tonight.  Sorry you guys for not getting done on the weekend but the in-laws came down for fathers day and I didn't get any bench time (I had every intention of finishing by Sunday).  BTW, my fathers day was good, while I didn't get anything modelling related, my son who is almost 13 months decided that walking is very fun!  He started walking two weeks ago but only between mommy and daddy never venturing out on his own and letting go of the furniture.  Well that all changed this weekend.  I lost count of the laps he did inside our house Sunday, one right after the other, from the living room into the kitchen, around the island and back into the living room, touch the tv and back to the kitchen, over and over, just a squealing and screaming with joy the entire time!  Now that was an awesome fathers day!  Now that he is walking totally on his own...

HEELLPP!!

WOOHOO!

Today, at the LHS, my girlfriend bought me a Robert Taylor print as a house-warming gift!  She knew I have always wanted one, but would never spend the money on it for myself.  I can't wait to get it framed and on the wall!  Just in time for the Spitfire GB too!

That is too cool! Very nice.

Guys- She definately is a keeper!  I took her there just to show her the cool prints, and she saw how I loved this one and decided to buy it for me!  I can't believe it, and can't wait to get it on the wall to inspire me for the GB!

Darren- Love those markings!  I thought about doing one like that as well.  I can't wait to see how your Mk.47 turns out!  Jon sent me some replacement decals for my Mk.46 so I am ready to start!  I am also planning to build another Mk.1 to match my new print, maybe finish it in time to post it on the GB.  12 more days Gents!

Hey fella's- looks like you have been busy over here!

Jon,

wow! What a gift!  You are a very lucky man.Thumbs Up [tup] Awesome gift.

I'm glad you other dads out there had a good Fathers day.Wink [;)]

As its been a while since I've been over here, I thought I'd share what I've been up to in the workshop. At the moment, I am putting the finishing touches to my FAA Corsair II and still plodding along with my F-15.

I am going to have two entries in this GB, one of them I have started tonight-a 1/48 Airfix Seafire Mk.47. Its the same airframe as the Mk. 24 Spitfire so it will qualify here and in the FAA group build.Thumbs Up [tup] The kit is a little gem, but the decals are awful, so I am going to beg and borrow from other sheets in order to build a Korean War fighter. I built exactly the same kit/version about 8 years ago and looking back now I can see how bad I was at modelling!Blush [:I]

I plan to show the old and new side by side when I'm done.

Second one I'm building is this:

Hasegawa 1/48 Spitfire Mk.IX-I know there are some issues with the shape and accuracy of this kit, but I for one think its still a good build. I'll be using the box decals and the Eduard PE set. I have opened up had had a look at the PE set and it is quite extensive, it actually completely replaces the kit seat! I'm not sure I will use everything in the set, but the I/P is definately on my "to do" list-its superb!

I'll start posting build pics as I get going and will start looking in here a lot more often as the official start date upon us. Wink [;)]
