Those are some good looking wingy things guys!

The Pz IV is looking good and coming along nicely.  I promise to get some pics up soon.  Now, I'm just waiting for the suitable paints from Greatmodels.  My LHS paint selection was pretty meager the last time I went, hence the need to order from there.

I have been a little slow in my building, but here is some updates on my Semovente A. Fiat L6/47

Here are three general views:

Some interior views:

Its going along quite well. I tried a new product for adding a rust appearance which has worked out well. When I get to the weathering, it'll be general, not desert rough, as these vehicles were employed in Tunisia and may be more muddy than dusty.

Telsono, nice work on your Fiat L6/47 Thumbs Up [tup]

I have ran into a little problem here, on the back of the Tiger theres black flex hoses that run out the back.  I've gotten the two outer ones figured out but, the two on the inside I can' figure out how they go on.

I recently built an Early Tiger for the Kursk Gb, which I didn't finish, but that's neither here nor there.  I did finish construction, just not the camo stripes and weathering.  Anyway, It did have the Feifel Air Filter on it, and from what I saw while I was building it looked just like you have the right side one attached.  I just applied a little CA to that little rib on the engine deck under it.

Here's the photo I used while constructing that section:

Glamdring - thanks!

telsono - that rust looks completely real!  The detail you armor guys delve into blows me away.

dostacos - good progress on both builds.  You have a little overspray touchup but that'll be easy to do.

Brews, thanks for that.  I could see how it fit together better.

Little funny, as shown in the instrutions.  I read it wrong, the drawing in the instrutions doesn't show a clear view.  Just got to look at it again in a different way, and I figured it out.

Looks like you pretty much have them on correctly.  Here is what they look like on my Tiger I Early S33 "Das Reich" that I build for the Kursk GB.

a LITTLE overspray???? ah yeah, I tried to spray the pattern freehand but my $40 airbrush was not up to the job. I also have a couple of areas that need to be hit again. Got a fingerprint and some bottom color still showing through

Dan, the camo on the real birds were hard edge, so you could have avoided the freehand overspray problem by masking.

arki - the rust was accomplished using a product I was experimenting with:

:

You can find this at Michael's. Its a two part solution with a dark metal first coat that is a bit aqaeous so it doesn't give an even coverage. The second solution creates actual rust and more applications deepen the effect. It might be good on aircraft exhausts. The dark metal first coat looks well too for a burnt metal.

telsono, that is a cool product.  I don't know if it would scale out right for 1/48 aircraft, but it certainly looks good for what you're doing.

I am really happy with the results of that rusting product.

Arki, I build aircraft as well and will try it on a 1/48th scale build I am doing now.

Some progress on the Spitfire.  Painting has been a minor nightmare-The azure blue (MM acrylic intermediate blue with a touch of white) is a tad darker than I was shooting for although it matches the color on the Eagle Stike decal sheet.  Then I tried to use a MM acrylic middlestone substitute (looked close enough) and for whatever reason, the paint did not want to shoot thru my ab.  Time for a trip back to my LHS for the two Tamiya colors that had to be mixed to make middlestone.  It worked though.  I still need to apply the stencils, do some weathering, etc., but here it is....

Thanks Arki.  I kinda wish that I had gone for a traditional Spitfire desert scheme, with two-color upper.  However, to try to speed things up (and minimize potential frustrations), I decided to take the one color option.  The Tamiya kit has been a gem so far-I plan on adding a few more to the stash.

Bob - that lego spray stand is awesome! Oh, and the Spitfire, too. Wink [;)] Going to have to try both of these out...

I have the same kit in my stash, was surprised that there's so much mixing going on of the Tamiya colors to get accurate British shades...does anyone make a standard 3-color Brit line? Seems like "middlestone" is popular enough that it might be worthy of it's own bottle.

Thanks Dupes.  Paintwise, unfortunatly, I choose to go acrylic and my two LHS's carry only MM & Tamiya.  Neither makes azure (which matches up to intermediate blue on the FS charts) nor middlestone.  MM has a color, British Armor Sand or such that is very close.  I was planning on using that, but then either my airbrush or primer coat didn't agree-bit of a mess.  I decided to cut my losses and go Tamiya.  I'm sure some of the other acrylic paint lines make a middlestone.

Xtracrylics, from Hannants make a very good range of colours. I haven't tried them, but I do like the Xtracolour enamels.

Pollyscale carries the 3 BR colors.  However, I can't vouch for their color accuracy.  I have some on order for use on my Hurricane though so I'll soon find out.

Yeah, I just saw those down at the LHS...apparently he's been carrying the railroad Polly Scale stuff for a while, and just got the military acrylics in. Anybody tried this stuff? Certainly cover a pretty wide range of needed colors, but it it a bit pricy. $4 per 1/2 ounce? That what everyone is charging for it?

Bob that Spit is looking REALY NICE!!!  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  I just love the desert colours (which begs the question of why have I not built one Confused [%-)]  and it's been a long time since I've seen the old leggo stand.  I look forward to seeing the Spit finished.

Dupes, the polyscale line is one of the best acrylic paint lines in my opinion.  they're just hard to find in the average every day LHS, probably because of the price, and yes, they are a bit pricey.
