Marc, I think that sounds like a good idea. I intend to do a plane that looks like it's beeing used, but if I manage, that's a whole other story, yet to be told Smile [:)]

I can't believe how fast Raptor's raptor is coming together!!!  Wow.
Are you planning to build any other kits when you finish?  Last year,
we kept the option open to continue building the next highest voted
kit in your stash.  I think Paul_toz built the most kits for IMS1: four!

I found a rather small detail on the B-58 that is going to cause a major
diversion in the build process.  The real B-58 has two small triangular
windows above the pilot's head, as visible in the first image below.
My Lindberg kit, however, does not.  My plan is to use the canopy
hatch shown in the second image as a mold to vacuform a piece of
transparent styrene over it.  Then I can paint everything except the
missing windows.  This will be my first attempt at vacuforming a part,
I will try to photograph the process.  Wish me luck!

Good luck with the vacforming. I would be interested to see how it goes for you. It would be a good way to replace complete canopies on a couple of really old Airifx kits I have where the canopy is so thick you can barely see through it!

I think Doomgrr  is the one who has the most kit builds for IMS1 - not me. Doomgrr did 4, I only did 2. I'm hoping to do 2 again this time, but in half the time!!

IL2, I recently built my own vac box and tested it out.  It's really very simple and easy to do.  Let me know if you need any help.

Paul, I hear you about those airfix canopies! Dead [xx(]  I have a few I just might do that for too.

Thanks Il2 I hope that your B-58 will come out well. I think that would be fun yes I will build more but all of them are ties.. I can just choose right?

IL, good luck on that endeavor!  By the way, have I told you you're crazy?  With my fumbly fingers I'd never get that to work.

Raptor, I'd say yes just pick your next from the two ties.  No more voting until the next IMS, please!  Big Smile [:D]

I see it is a Revell kit, the leader in seam technology,Banged Head [banghead] it probably has raised panel lines too.Banged Head [banghead] At the HobbyCon in Chicago last year I asked the Revell vendor why thier kits have raised panel lines. Question [?]

Got a little progress on my Hood. Glued the upper and lower hulls together, they fit well. Much better than some of their other kits. Still waiting on paint and airbrush parts.

Ok, here's a couple pics of Hood wip. Sorry about the lighting. If I do more work tomorrow I'll take some better ones.

Not much done, but it's a start. Yes, that's an Anatomy of the Ship: Hood. Got it from my local ILL system.

AJB93, very cool progress!  How long is it in that scale?

Mist, the area I believe you were circling in your picture was the top of the ejection seat.  The A-10 uses the ACES II ejection seat, and if you follow this link you should be able to paint it quite nicely.

WOW Mists, good to you and all that seam filling you have in your future. That first photo is not a seam it's a gash. Very nice work on the office.

Mist, do not get in a big hurry, I built a Delta Dart last year and I ended up replacing ALL the panel lines by rescribing them. She too was a revell-o-matic with nice detail, grand canyon clones, good instructions, pretty good paint callouts, grand canyon clones, and raised panel lines that took 30 hours to rescribe. Take your time, you can build another kit in the time it takes to rescribe that bird. The raised panel lines do not detract from the finished look of the model. Take your time, sand around the panel lines.

Every one of those little fellas were rescribed. Take your time You don't want to Have to do this.

Most of the seams aren't going to be a problem sanding around the lines.  I'll have to rescribe the inflight refueling part on the nose.  The seam goes right thru it.  But i'd have to anyway because they didn't line up Banged Head [banghead]

AJB, she looks smaller in the photos, How can you see the 1/700 details that you have to add. I have one 1/700 in the stash (can't remember which one) and truthfully, it scares the Bejesus out of me. Good work so far, you are a brave man. Bow [bow]

Ahhh, finally got to crack into the MiG-21 a bit last night. Picked up an Eduard Zoom set, and some True Details KM-1 resin seats to spruce it up...not realizing that a lot of the Eduard set is to spruce up the seat. Heh. So, I'm going to bang out both the PE-upgraded kit seat, and paint up one of the TD's and see which one looks better. Guess I'll have to buy some other kits to match my leftover aftermarket...Whistling [:-^]

Any of you have experience with these TD seats? I'm thinking it isn't going to fit into the cockpit, looks like I may have to shave a bunch off of the bottom of the seat to get the control stick to fit...I think the problem I'm having is that there's no clear demarcation towards the bottom part where the detail ends in the resin before you get to the block? Sort of like they're leaving it up to you as to how much of the seat you want? Laugh [(-D]

Either way, I've started. Big Smile [:D]
