That's always the trick, isn't it? Laugh [(-D]

Luckily, the PF version of the MiG-21 had a forward-hinged canopy, seen here:

http://www.topedge.com/panels/aircraft/sites/kraft/21canopy.jpg

So it should result in some decent viewing potential.

Everybody's stuff looks realy great! Thumbs Up [tup]  Thought I would show you some progress on the PT boat.  The hull part is finished.  The deck and everything on it is just dry fit. Some serious seams on this thing.  Mr. Surfacer is now my friend. Smile [:)]

Mr Surfacer is like a really thin putty.  So thin it's like thick paint.  Kind of a cross between primer and putty.  I use it when i have a seam line, minor crack, not a gap (it would run through a gap).  I just get a dab on the tip of my finger and draw it along the seam leaving a trail behind my finger.  I dont attempt to smooth it down or anything because it sands off easy with a 600 grit paper.  then i repolish the area with a coffee filter.  Next time I use it I will shoot some before and afters.  It wont be long Sigh [sigh]

Looking real good paul Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  may I ask what colours you used on the hull?  As for the MMclear coat I wish I had an answer because I'm having the same problem.  I've been thinking about experimenting by mixing it with future to get more of a sheen to it.

Dupes, great looking seat Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] can't wait to see the rest of it.

I used medium green that i mixed in medium grey to reduce the croma and black to darken it.  Field green with grey to reduce the croma and lighten it.  Finally a dark grey darkend almost to black.

RMV, great progress! The camo came out really well.  As for the flat coat, I won't use Testors flat coats anymore, only Pollyscale from now on.  I too had problems with a milky white sheen left behind.

Great loking boat RMV. Can't wait to see further progress pics.

Kenny, I use Mr Surfacer on seams where the is a slight nick or depression. It fills it in and can be sanded flat afterwards. I have also seen it used on plastic to give a fabric effect finish. Paint it on, let it half dry and then stipple it with a brush.

The PE parts are mostly fitted on the cockpits part of the 162 now. PE is great, but boy is it small! The carpet ate a couple of small parts, but luckily there were spares on the PE fret. Pics taken using wife's camera - I'll have to use mine next time as the quality is better.

Next is building the main u/c bay and then the fuselage can go together.

I agree!

I've been having some problems with my computer so I couldn't get any pics up, but now it seems to work fine (I hope). I've been doing a little on my Typhoon.

The cleaned up enginge parts.

Assembled and painted black.

Some more painting. I'm thinking of painting details in black and aluminium.

Intake and engine wall

I also painted interior walls in two colors.

I also did some freehand painting with the airbrush. Just for fun and practice Smile [:)]

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]

I had to work this weekend but still got to fill and sand. I've got the Merlin engine half complete and primed. Mr. pilot guy is kinda together and is about 1/2 squadron green putty. I used the super glue - baking soda method of seam filling on the engine. There's a good article on how on the Internet Modeller site.

I also use Mr. surfacer 500 on small seams. I'm not really sure how to clean the brush after using it. I have been using nail polish remover with ok results. Does anyone know exactly what to use?

For my flat coat I found that Krylon matte finish works well right out of the rattle can. No complaints about it.

Wow, lots of progress from everybody...looks like it was a good weekend!

Got some stuff done while watching football, but nothing worthy of pics. Snowing like mad here right now, so it should be a productive week. Wink [;)]

After viewing your previous  builds, I would love to see you tackle those in super scale. It brings up the the age old question about what to give the man who has everything?

The same thing you would need after building those gargantuans................

Someplace to put it all.

Cool [8D] Tony, Who will never pick on Paul Bow [bow]
