Wow - great work up there Mist.
That's gonna look very nice when it gets some paint.
I need to get some of that Mr.Surfacer stuff.

TGreg, I totally agree with you.  Between what i've learned on
finescale models and the rest on RC models, I feel like I've become
quite the handyman at times :)  How'd that happen?

NIIIICCCEE!!! Big Smile [:D]  I like that one except with atm's and elctrconic banking I don't even have to handsome over anymore.  It's gone before I can even get to it after work. Sad [:(]

Not much progress from me lately.  Messed up my shoulder on the weekend (moving around furniture for the one who finds me more handy than handsome) and had to take a break.  Feeling much better now though.  I was going to make a duct tape sling (think I saw it on Red Green once) but my daughter used up all my duct tape to make a purse and matching bag... Confused [%-)] seems to be the in thing with her friends these days.

razor - sorry to hear about the shoulder.  Hope it heals up soon.  But let me make sure I got this straight - your teenaged daughter made a handbag out of duct tape??!  You should post some pics of that build!!

Anyways, I got a start on the Gneisenau - just glued the hull together and the decks on, but it is a start - have a few seams to fill and some painting to do on the deck before I build her up any more.  I'll try to get more done and post some pics by this weekend...

I haven't tested it myself, but one question I have is where are you putting the image in your signature?  The sig block can only be so high before it starts cutting off things.  Just an FYI if you were not aware.

Mist - your seam clean up appears to have gone rather swimmingly - there's hope for that old hunk of plastic in my closet yet! It's actually the oldest kit I have in there...bought it back in high school, and it sat in my mom's attic while I was off in the military, college, etc. etc. Must be an 18-20 year old boxing.

Arki - any chance you have any MiG-19 links to go with the last one you shot me about the '21? Accidentally picked one up (AA Models) on Ebay, may have to go right ahead and build it concurrently with the 21 if the paint schemes are going to be similar...Whistling [:-^]

You mean there is actually money involved with working???? Confused [%-)] With direct deposit I never see money.  When I want to buy model stuff I ask my wife "can I spend this much?"  And I get a yes or a no.  Mostly yes Thumbs Up [tup] I just know when to ask. Whistling [:-^]

While we are on the subject of badges, can someone explain to me how you do that little slide show thingy with your badges in your signature line?  Not that I have a whole lot of them to display, but a guys gotta have goals, right?

Tony, I never actually counted.  28, really??? I guess that's about right though.  I average about 7 builds a year and started getting into GB at the beginning of 2005 so 7 a year for 3 years makes 21 with another 7, I mean 8 (including this one) for this year.  I guess I'm hooked!!! Boyd, you need a program that can generate animated gif images.  I use a Macintosh computer and have a program called flash that I use to make the image.  There are lots of programs out there but I've only used the one so I can't really tell you what's best or the easiest to use.

Kenny, my abject apologies. When I was creating the gif file I guess the badge for this build crept in there. I have removed it forthwith, but hopefully not for too long! Big Smile [:D]

Boyd, those animated miages are gif files. An animated gif file just shows a bunch of images one after the other. You then just link that one gif file to your signature just the same as you would a single badge. Obviously this one animated gif shows a bunch of badges one after the other. How do you make these animated gifs I hear you say. Try here, it seems this website will allow you to create animated gifs, but I haven't tried it myself.

Hmm, I assume in Egypt colors?  Well, this link http://racc.com.sapo.pt/ which I gave you before has Mig-19's but not in Egypt schemes.  I do have this link http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/f/13 which has a couple of Mig-19's in Egypt colors.  Hopefully that link works, it's a somewhat clunky site to navigate but you should be able to figure it out.

I did a Google search and came up with a ton of other Mig-19 gunk, but it probably ranges from useless to mostly useless.

Does that help?

Arki - it did sort of help. Hehe. Do you have anything that has "official" SOVIET schemes? In FS numbers, even (do they even use anything near FS standards?)? Again, I looked at the Stockholm site and they have very limited USSR info - did the google thing and got the same MiG-19 gunk you did, I bet.

Thanks for looking. Big Smile [:D]

Dupes, most Soviet Mig-19's I've seen were NMF with colored ID bands or what have you.  For example:

Also, here is a link to a decal review for a Su-7 Fitter, which has some approximations of Soviet colors to FS numbers.

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/ISL/Hi-Decal_Line/1.48/48011-48020/48012_SU-7/HD48012.htm

Pollyscale still offers some Soviet colors.

I think in the end you're just going to have to wing it.  If that gets your knickers in a bind, then stop hanging out in the armor forum so much. Big Smile [:D]

Ooooh, the dreaded NMF, huh? Hadn't really thought about going that direction, but it looks pretty sweet to me...definitely better than the goofy orange-and-poop-brown scheme on the cover of the box. Have to take a closer look at the kit decals, see if they can be used.

It really DOES get my knickers in a pretty severe bind, but despite my urge to build bucketloads of aircraft, I don't think I can quit that side entirely. Hehehhe. Wink [;)]

Thanks Arki!

You know, I tried the Alclad II on a Mirage I picked up solely for that purpose (testbed). It mostly came out like crap, despite following some very good instructions (Swanny's, I think?). Shock [:O]

Snagged some of the Talon acrylics which seem pretty darn sweet, plus I've still got MM Metalizers to try out too. Plus the rest of that Alclad, if nothing else pans out. Wink [;)]

I'll make it happen!

Good work Raptor.Make a Toast [#toast]

I have been inspired to pull mine out of the stash (voted on as #2 pick) and build it concurrently with the Mustang. That is not a cockpit that is an atrium on that plane.Wink [;)]

Working 72+ hours a week makes it hard to get to the table, but I will get there tonight even if it only to test fit, glue, fill and file a couple of more parts. I would post photos but I keep getting a message "Device not responding" with the camera.
