Thanks for the warm welcome home, fellas.

Razor, your camo is going to look sweet.  It's off to a good start: certainly has a German look to it. I took your picture into photoshop to simulate how it would look with that classic German spray-can style that you so commonly see on the FWs and 109s.  I would totally do something like this if I was in your shoes.

Or maybe something in a winter scheme would be cool too.

Ooooohhh!!!  Now that does look WAY cool Il2 Cool [8D].  You've opened my mind to some new possibilities.  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Unfortunately I am in the middle of painting a bedroom right now but hopefully I'll get some time to play around with it tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Managed to get primer down, but still had some rework around the nose area and cannon access panel.  I've resanded, refilled, resanded and reprimed those gnarly areas, but they still don't look great.  However, time is against me so I accepted the result and next painted the interior of the bomb bay, crew access door and bomb bay doors the British Interior green.

I'll mask the bomb bay tomorrow and shoot the underside color. Cripes, the clock is ticking.

So I got some more paint down on my E555 this evening.  Before I did so I followed Sir Il2's lead and took a photo of the E555 into photoshop and played around with a couple of different schemes and this is what I came up with.

I sprayed some rlm 74 into the center of the spots and then misted it with the same rlm 74 to blend it all in.  I am much happier with the results.  Now I have to let it dry for a bit and mask off the areas that are going to be painted yellow such as the rudders and then some touch ups and we're off to the races.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments and enthusiasim.  I gave it another mist coat just now of rlm 76 to lighten it up a little and I think its looking even better.  Hopefully I'll get some bench time this week and be able to finish it off next weekend.  That may be wishfull thinking but I bruised my ribs mountain biking last week and aggrevated it while painting yesterday so I plan to take it easy for a few days and work on the models.  Well, that's my plan anyway until SWMBO realizes whats going on! Sir IL2 Welcome back.  Nice work on the replacement canopy.

Arki looking forward to more construction details & pics.

Dave looks SUPER  great work on the camo.  Hope your ribs feel better.

As for me a little progress to report 95% finished paint touch ups, started work on the cockpit the pilots area is pretty well done now the hard part the WSO's position.  I've never done this type of scratch building, I just hope it turns out ok.  I still have the gears to put on plus finishing touches TIC TOC, TIC TOC.....   This one will be to the wire.

Cheers

Hi All  Here's a quick update.  Finally got the instrument panels in and they don't look to bad.  I just have to put a piece of tape over the aft IP to simulate the shroud then I can put in the seats.  Once that's done it will be time for the gears TIC TOC, TIC TOC....

Here's a couple of progress picks

Here is the latest finished off the cockpit, re-painted the gear doors and the canopy frame plus the pitot tube.  Things are moving along nicely with a bit of luck I should be able to hang the gears tomorrow. Tic, Toc....   Big Smile [:D]

Not a hugh update but progress all the same. Underside is painted, the pre-shading did not come out too well in the photo though. Might get some of the topside done in the next day or so.

Thanks for looking

Nice work, fellas.  Looks like a few of you just might finish on time.  Stop it!  You're making me look bad!!!  Shock [:O]  I think I'm gonna have to file for an extension on this build, sorta like with tax returns.  Kenny, what forms do I need to fill out? Laugh [(-D]

Superbear, that's sweet that you're scratch-building elements of the cockpit.   Be careful!!!  Once you start scratch-building, you'll convince yourself that you can fix ANYTHING on a kit.  LOL - just look at my history with the B58 and the Mig31 as an example.  I literally cannot happily build a model out-of-the box anymore.  Seriously though, good for you!  The cockpit looks very nice.

My B-58 now has wings permanently bonded.  Tonight I'm gonna scratch a nose probe, tail gun, and various other antennas, etc.  Maybe work on the engine pods too.  I will try to post photos.

Cheers.

A couple of quick and dirty progress pics.  By pushing hard I've managed to finish the major painting.  I cheated and used the Eduard canopy mask and camo mask to help out.  Otherwise, I'd still be masking.  I have some touch-up where the masking tape pulled up some areas Banged Head [banghead], detail painting, assembly of the remaining parts and pieces, decals and a panel line wash.

I'm very close but what's left still will take me right down to the wire.  Blindfold [X-)]

Looks great, Ark.  Nice camo

Don't fret the paint-pull blemishes.  They'll look fine when you get done, won't even be noticeable.  Especially after you weather the aircraft.

Nice camo Arki. BTW - Eduard masks can not be construed as cheating. More like a necessity on some of those multi-windowed a/c...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Thanks gents.  I'll admit I'm cheating with masks, but I'm not remorseful! Big Smile [:D]  I hate masking canopies and complicated camo schemes.  Dead [xx(]

And I'm not remorseful.  Evil [}:)] I'd do it again and again and again and again...

They save a ton of time and give good results.  I haven't yet developed the airbrushing skills to freehand, so why waste my precious time fussing with Silly Putty, Blue-tak, tape, Liquid Mask or whatever when someone has already pre-cut the masks for me?  I'm not in a contest with anyone to demonstrate my camo masking manliness.  Puh-leeze.

I've touched up the upper surfaces, next will be the lower surfaces.  Hopefully by the end of today I'll have the landing gear attached and detail painting well underway.  Hopefully.  A little less than 4 days to go.  Blindfold [X-)]

Thanks Kenny I got the email with the new Add.

Ok guys that's it she's done

As per your selection I now present to you my CF-101B belonging to 416 Sqn CAF sationed at CFB Chatham NB 1984.

This was one challenging build.  Those old Matchbox kit's can be quite a pain however I think she came out ok.  It did allow me to try some new things so that's a good thing.

Cheers
