DWIGHT:
Awesome! Your build speed is remarkable!

You did a great job on the numbers. Did you free hand them or stencil them? I'm going to put dry xfers on mine tonight (fingers crossed)

Well let me add great job to everyones builds. I was making some good progress than ran into a roadblock. I was going to do the ambush scheme, but I'm beginning to hate my references. Seems they are different. They give me two options to do it. One is dunkelgelb leaves over the green and red; another way is red leaves in the dunkelgelb and dunkelgelb leaves in the green and red. Does anyone have any good line drawings or a good reference with this scheme? I was going to airbrush them, but it doesn' seem like it would work correctly.

Second, what's the best weathering method for this scheme. I've heard of buff sprayed over it to fade it out a little. Any others? Thanks.

Muzzleflash: I did it free hand with a very sharp and stiff brush.

Wipw: reagarding the fruil tracks ( you probably already know what I am about to say here ) there are at least 2 different types of tracks for the panther they are different and won't fit the other vehicle properly so make sure you get the right one for your model 2 I know of here are #atl-33 for the panther ausf D( and I think ausf A early but not sure there) ,,,, #atl-08 panther late type track ( probably for ausf G and late A)

spector: Initially yes. I actually have a Tank Re-supply Crew for it. But now I am planning to use the crew on my previous dio after I repainted my Panther G. This one may wait for a while until I get a space for it in a dio.

Thanks.

Actually, the early tracks are just for the D. The later ones are for all the A's and the Gs'. I don't know if rebuilt D's used the later track.

Hey Dwight, looking real good, especially OOB. I'm doing an early A from Wiking in spring of '44, so my Panther will also be all yellow, but with Zimmerit. No white camo. (I'm doing one of the vehicles from the much-photographed 5th company.)

I was going to use the kit links too, and actually spent a lot of time on them, but now I am considering putting the friuli treads on. I've put a lot of aftermarket junk on my tank, and I may want to just go all the way. Hmmm.

Meanwhile, our panthers may both turn out yellow, but we are as different as can be in modeling speeds! Last night I applied precisely one area of zimmerit to the hull -- found it to be too short (curse you, Mirage!) and had to use some extra zimm to fill the gap. Grrrrrrrr!

No way I'll be finished by Feb 1, but I will shoot for it anyway. If I don't, I'll never finish the thing.

Caveman, didn't some of the early A's in Italy get shipped from the very first batch -- the ones w/o the zimm? I am only adding the dreaded stuff because I have to for the vehicles I am recreating.

Spector;

I got the ModelKasten SK-10 tracks for the late A/G Panther. They really look nice, but are very time intensive. I've been getting 6 links done a day (the size of the gluing jig). At that rate, it should only take me 28!! days to finish them. Going to have to step that up! The Fruil stuff I was talking about was a set of sprockets to replace the kit ones I glued together without the vinyl inserts. But last night I followed advice and cut them apart with my razor saw. That worked very well, but made the sprockets too narrow by about .015 inches. I glued a piece of .010 and .005 styrene on the center of the hub and after letting the glue dry, carved it to match the hub. Then carved out the center hole, inserted the vinyl insert (making VERY sure they were in the hubs and oriented correctly, and glued the other side of the sprocket back on. It worked great, and after hitting the hub with a little dunkelgleb, I think will be almost undetectable. Thanks for the advice, everyone. That's what these group builds are all about!

Jon and Nick, if nothing else, I'm sure someone over on this side of the pond could send you some. I will certainly do that, if you desire. It's not a hazardous substance, so I don't see any shipping problems. The stuff only costs about $2.00 an egg, and might be found cheaper in some places.

What does it smell like....Mine smells like silly putty.....Big Smile [:D]

Hopefully it will do the trick... Its a great tool and super easy to work with. HOWEVER. When I get around to posting some updated pics. Ya'll will notice that my Kitty has suffered some battle damage..in the sense of a missing rt front fender. You got to be careful peel the putty off, if it gets hooked on something it ain't forgiving... I would have glued the fender back on had I noticed it was laying in my chair before I sat down.. Now its back to un-folded PE.....Black Eye [B)] I;m not gonna worry about it... The mounting bracket is there and its kinda cool...

First time using dry transfers, I HIGHLY recommend them!!!

I managed to knock some track off while putting on my insignias, 1 step forward, 1 1/2 steps back Sign - Dots [#dots]Sign - Dots [#dots]Sign - Dots [#dots]censoredSign - Dots [#dots]Sign - Dots [#dots]Sign - Dots [#dots]

Ok, coming along on my dio, it will focus on the moment before a violent encounter.....(more info later) Tongue [:P]

I'm finishing up with my crew. How many men were in each Jagdpanther? Commander, Gunner, Loader, Driver.... is 4 correct? Also, am I correct by having green and/or black uniforms with pink piping on black?

I figured since I have not been able to get situated enough that it don't hurt to paint yet I had to set my other project to the side for now. I began work on the base for the Panther the other noght. Got the Sculpey all modled out and baked. I did a test run with the scenery items and I think it os going to come out great. I usually have lots of doubts about stuff like this. Hope fully I can get to some painting tonite and once I get some done on it I'll try and get some pics up.
Sure has been alot of great work posted since I took my small break, can't wait to see everyones finished product.

Dwight: are you going to have flames shooting out of the engine compartment like the real ausf D did at kursk ( the russians first look at the panther I believ e) I understand Kursk was a disaster for the Panthers , out of 250 panthers almost all were out of action in the first day ( insufficient engine cooling caused fires ) and the tanks had to be deserted ,,,, nothing like going to the battlefield with a lemon huh ! Can you say M-16? Woops did I say that ? Building an ausf D here too . It has been a nice model to assemble ( doing the same dragon you did ) went together pretty fast actually , lots of people complain about dragon , but i have built a few of thier models and I love the detail on them ! Now its time to finish that Karl gerat mortar I have about 3/4 done ! That thing is going to take a ton of paint for sure Great stuff posted the past couple of days ,... good work all ! Cool [8D]
