Frosty,
depends which way you are going w/ the pics.
if you want to post them here, you will need someone (Moses or RonUSMC maybe) to host them for you. then you put the link in your post and they appear like magic. Big Smile [:D]

if you want to put them on your pages for Derek's group build pages,
just email them to him, and he does all the heavy lifting. Smile [:)]Big Smile [:D]

to look at the pix on the group build site, look for builders in the 'menu board' w/ links (colored & underlined names or numbers)
then you should be able to click on the name to start at that builder's first page, or a number to jump to a given page.
PantherLehr and Lizardqing both have links on Claymore's Page that link back to their own sites where you can see their stuff, including the Panthers.

Spector,
welcome aboard! What kit did you pick? (scale, maker, type, etc)
looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Kenneth,
if you are interested in the Berg info i have for future build, email me
and i will figure out how to get you what little i have.

Welcome spector 822002. Can't wait to see your panther...

Are you gonna make your own Zim or do like some of the others here and go with PE?

Wow, lots of progress here. Good for ya'll

After a quick drive to Little Rock then to New Orleans and back yesterday (800miles round trip) I got the other rear tool box built. Now I just need to detail the both of them. I think I am gonna rob clamps and clasp from another one of my PE sets. I just can't wait on GM. Maybe I'll look for them on another site. My barrel and chains are in stock and ready to ship.

Thanks ya'll for ideas on using my leftover hull.

God Bless.

Petbat - oh! i guess i should have worked that out! i fogot some kits come w/ indy links. Dunce [D)]
so were you sanding & filling ejector pin marks?
i guess after that, drilling out the horns doesn't seem so bad.
i don't think i am going to drill mine out. [:0]
i am having a lot of fun now, and i don't want to spoil it.

Chris - there we go! i can see them again now. Thumbs Up [tup]

Smith - good to hear from you! sounds like you are getting a bunch done too.
and here we were starting to think you were loafing about! Big Smile [:D]

Eric - not to worry. Sounds like it's coming along nicely.

Well WW, I'm doing the masochistic bit...I'm using the Dragon kit's ones[:0] 'cause I'm on a tight budget at the moment.

I had a go at drilling out the track guide horns today and so far they look pretty good. I have 'til Feb to get the kit done, so I might have enough time to drill out all 192Tongue [:P]. Also completed the detail inside the Cupola. The kit cupola is designed to be closed, so has no internal detail. Even if you use a figure you still need to detail it.

Gotter:
Can you post a pic of the instruction for Aber assembly 39? If we can se it, maybe we can help.

No progress to report today.
I did however check out your web page lizardqing2.
Looking good,Approve [^] looks similar to mine.(oh yeah its the same kit.Laugh [(-D]) only yours looks better.
Grumpy [|(]A bit disapointed nobody could shed any light on Aber assembly 39. (its driving me crazy) Confused [%-)] I think its some sort of hatch lifting device. Looked in all my ref books & online. Drew a blank & didn,t get no modeling done.Sad [:(] so I,m not a happy chappie.
I may have to scrap idea of installing driver, closed hatches etc (if I don,t know what it is I wont put it in).
Anyhoo tomorrows another day I,ll see what happens.Big Smile [:D]
Gotter.

PS. About that electron microscope, where can I buy one (this PE is tiny).Clown [:o)]

I think I'm going to have to try a full pe set on something now. It's not that bad, only took one try at bending the commanders sight.

You might be dragging on the zim Tigerman but just think how much better your is going to look and how much prouder you'll be of yours.

Blush [:I] See Chris, I'm good for something. Glad you like them, so do I. It really sets the rear deck off. I won't build another tank that needs them without again.

Wah! I'm dragging. If my zim panned out like your guys did, I would have sprayed yesterday. I have half the turret finished, and will finish the rest tomorrow. Hopefully my first experiment with zim will pan out. Its's going to be a slow process.

Wildwilliam- Don't know how the pic links got changed from where I fixed it before but it should be working fine now. I'll check it again tommorow when I put up an update. I'm still learning the web page thing so I'll probally have some problems.
I thought I had done something to that mark to like to much primer or something but I think Tamiya just forgot to put it there.
Today's progress- I got the barrel to fit fine. Took 5 turns of the exacto and went in pretty as could be. I also got the pe grills and commanders site on and painted. I'll have pics up tommorow. I must admit tigerman was right about lecturing me to get them, they look great once on the hull brings out detail like nothing else I have used. Should look great once it's all camo and weathered.

Blush [:I] Sorry, I didn't realize you meant 1/72, that explains my confusion. Good luck on your build.

I'm building the Dragon 1/72 Panther G Early. It is being painted as a tank of the 10.SS-Panzer-Division "Frundsburg" serving near Nijmegen, done up in an ambush scheme.

Well, after looking here and realizing that we're supposed to post progres here, here I go.
Upper and Lower Hull painted base yellow
Road wheels are assembled and in the midst of being painted
Turret is built up, gun and manlet assembly will be added shortly
Engine deck is assembled and painted
The rest of the parts are off the sprue and cleaned up.
This is the Dragon Panther G Early, and so far, except for the 2 metal parts, the kit has gone together smoothly. The upper hull, however is severly lacking in detail, and when joined to the lower hull, leaves a sizable gap on the front (about 2mm). I wish I could get pictures up, but not having a digital camera makes it rather hard.

Chris,
i guess that is good (no locating mark)
i thought i was losing my mind!

i will have to check out your 'missing' page now.
thanks.
edit - just went over - still get the red X's on page 2. sorry.

Petbat - whose tracks are you using?
i checked the group site, but did not see them mentioned in your summary.

did a bit of turret work tonight.
and i am trying to scratchbuild the cylindrical storage for the barrel cleaning apparatus
from brass tube and styrene.
because i knew i would sand the kit piece flat rying to get rid of the seam.
i used the kit ends for my new piece.
because i am an idiot, or because i thrive on pressure,
i glued them to the brass tube before i even tried to make the mounts.
but .040 styrene and my leather punch got me started w/ some shapes,
then i sanded them down a bit.
looking ok.
i will do the 'straps w/ thinner styrene strip stock or left over bits from the PE fret.

Box 1 have you seen here:
http://www.hometown-hobbies.com/barrel_depot_?start=15

Not sure of the brand, but someone here might know what the quality is like.

Not much to report here. Have cleaned up the road wheels and started on the track links -fill then sand, fill then sand, fill then sand, Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Good to see most of the zim prob's have been resolved.

I did eyeball it. I did'nt have a mark for it either.

The pics are not you. I redid the site and forgot where I had the pics on that page hosted at anglefire and had allready deleted the original page .Dunce [D)] . I have not been able to log back into anglefire ( hence why I set one up somewhere else) to find them again.

Chris,
since the blade is triangle shaped, i gave it a few from each side.
just do a tiny bit and then test; it did not take much.

i jave a question for you:
how did you locate piece D18 on the top of the turret?
there is no dimple or bump on my turret top.
did you just eyeball it? i see from your pictures you have it abt half between the
periscope and that nipple on the back of the turret.

also, on your pages for the Panther, i get the dreaded red X for the page 2 pictures.
not sure if there is a problem there or if it is me, but i can not see them at home or at work.

Oh, my. I envy you guys with all the progress. I haven't open the box of my Panther yet. Anyway, it would be straight OOB anyway and I could probably catch-up later.

Hi All

Im back from my hol's and have spent the day trying to catch up with all you guys!!

Well first prob! The Eduard Barrel i have is actualy for a King Tiger, thats all i could get as i couldnt find anyone who stocks a barrel for the Tamiya Jagdpanther! Its near enough the same so i just went for it.
Trouble is it doesnt fit in the mantlet Dead [xx(] so i had to gently dril out the locating lugs in the mantlet so the barrel would fit. Smile [:)] now its all done and looks fine.

Have done most of the hull but havent started on the wheels yet. i hate them Sad [:(] so i start on them tomorrow.

Just so you all know i have decided to go for this unusal camo that i have seen somewhere once (on a panther G i think) it a base olivegreen with whitewash squares to gve an urban style to the camo. I think its valid as i can just imagine a crew in berlin in the last week of the war being desperate to get an edge, so if winter whitewash is all you have, what would you do? After all the germans did invent the splinter camo used on ships so why not urban!

Back tomorrow with another update.

Is anyone else doing a Jagdpanther?

Well I lied, I got nothing done yesterday at all. Big Smile [:D] I was looking for all the things I am going to need to make zim. I was checking out an old FSM May 2002, they have an article on 6 ways to do zim. Unfortunately my LHS didn't have and Tamiya zim tools, so I think I will resort to the screwdriver method. Looks very tedious, but i forgot I have Thursday off from work so I may start then. Hope to get the turret together today.

Gotter- I have the eduard barrel.

Wildwilliam- I think I'll give the exacto a try for a few turns and see if that opens it up a bit. I did'nt want to push on it to much either cause I was afraid of breaking something.

Still have'nt gotten anything else done since this week end, thought I would let y'all catch up some Wink [;)]. Hopefully work on it a little tonite. Do I have to prepare the barrel in any way prior to painting or is it just primer and paint?
