All I can say Kenneth is whoa. Approve [^]

I had a near disaster with my pe zim, got glued on crooked, but was barely able to get it off and reposition it.

Derek

Will send a second e-mail tonight/tomorrow OZ time...the wife's home today so I've quickly snuck in to check the thread and my e-mails.

I have started scratch building the Radiator and cooling fan assemblies for my D. 75% finished on those, then I'll start the driver/Radio operator area details. Bit off more than I can chew here; The DML kit needs to have some triangular supports cut out so that the interior can be built. I hope that the remaining braces and the transmission and steering gear supports will be enough to keep it straight and strong.

I have taken a couple of 35mm photo's of the fans, and hope to finish off the film in the next week or so when the front interior is done. (I will photograph some of my older efforts to use it up) so I should have some pics to share after that.

thats something that would be nice on the web page , list what each person is building under their name , would make it easier to see who is using the same parts as you and who is building each variant. if claymore doesn't have the time to add it i guess i can make a quick page with all the info and have him link to it , i think i would be something usefull.

i'll start off
Tamiya 35176 Panther G Late kit
Fruilmodel atl-08 tracks
Eduard 34001 Barrel
Aber PE. 35024 , 35A24 Sideskirt , 35G02 Grille

Hey Eric,

Should we start a quick thread that everyone can put in what they are building (kit, am parts, unit, paint scheme, etc.) and nothing else?? It might be kind of fun and good reference.

Once I get this one done, I'll have to decide which of the other 4 Panthers I'll do next!!

Sorry Bill, I'm building Tamiya's early G with the pe. I know that Ed(Wild William) and Chris(Lizardqing2) are building the exact same kit and I apologize if I left anyone out, but I'm not sure who else is building the same exact kit. Seems to be a lot of G builders. I don't think anyone wants to take on the Bergepanther. Frosty is going to build a Ersatz- you go girl! Sorry that is old school. Anyway it should be fun.

Site updated 12/01/03 @ 2:40 (central US).
Check out my build page for pics of the Verlinden engine pack.

Petbat: I don't know if you got my Email,I need those pics.
Having the pics imbedded in the word document didn't work.

Dvoss: can I set it up so that pics auto resize without putting the code in every page? I tried the code for resizing that you posted in feedback(?) and it didn't work but I have no idea what I did wrong.

Wow! I'm not on the computer for 4 days, and I had 5, yes 5, pages of postings to read through. It's taken me over an hour to catch up with you guys!!

Welcome to the forum and the build, Gringe!!

Jon,

I looked at your parts on the build site. It seems we're both doing the old Tamiya kit. Way to go!! I'd really like to get one of those Verlinden engine compartments. I think it will really dress up your kit. One think I noticed (hating to be the bearer of bad news!). The Friul tracks you've got are for a D. The late A (which is what the Tamiya is supposed to be) had different tracks. Well, the tracks are about the same, but they have cleats on the treads. I don't know if you care about this. Just depends on how pickey you want to be. No matter what, they sure look better than the OOB tracks. I painted some "rusty paint" on mine and they still look just like rubber bands with some paint smeared on them!

It will be interesting to see if I can make this look as good as the newer kits!!

I hope you have a fun build with this. The am turret I bought for mine had the rain guard over the sight opening sheared off. I built up a new one with epoxy putty and it looks okay. Probably not in scale or quite the proper shape, though. Oh well!!

Later,

Bill

Eric,
cool! now i will know who to bug w/ my whiney little problems!
:-)

still waiting for my barrel to get here.
good thing i am still on steps 1 & 2 !

Derek,
great idea. you guys have saved a bunch of work.
i am thinking abt making up a list of FSM issues that have Panther info, articles or pix.
i have the CD w/ the index for FSM, so it should be easy to put together.
should i include the issues that just have a picture in the Reader's Gallery?

Hi Ed, I saw your post on Derek's site and it looks like we have the exact same kit and aftermarkets. Cool [8D] The tracks look pretty clean which is nice, they should be a "snap". LOL

Ugh! Didn't realize until a few minutes ago when I bothered to count them, but did you know a Panther D has 24 roadwheels. Twelve on each side and that's not counting the front drive sprocket or the rear-idler wheel! Yikes! Currently I'm taking all those 24 roadwheels off the sprue and cleaning them up. Just can't wait until painting time! Oh well!

IT HAS BEGUN!

This morning as my wife impatiently waited in the car, I ran into the basement, grabbed the Panther and whatever aftermarket junk I could spot, brought them upstairs and put them on the bed! There, I'm virtually done! Tongue [:P]

i haven't had that problem personaly with the fruil tracks , it did happen on 1 link but that was it , how far along are you claymore? i got one track just about completed (all drilled but i was out of pins , made some this afternoon). i got nothing done on the 2nd track but it should go faster , i got the technique down pat now and no more experimenting

LQ2: Ihear ya on where to start! Hmmm...correct the turret?...Engine compartment?...some of the PE?...Fruil tracks?
6 of one half a dozen of another!Big Smile [:D]

Fruil tracks: Be careful when drilling the pin bores! That tiny drill bit can be deflected by flash and go crooked! If you do 2 links together it seems to solve the problem but makes drilling a little more difficult time consuming as you need to back out the bit to clear the chip. will put details with pics up Mon.
