Kenneth: Are you going the PE route with your tiger 2? Just got the aber for my jagdtiger today , and I must say it does look intimidating to say the least , and get this , the fenders are not included in this set ?Angry [:(!] That kinda ticked me off ! Eduard has always included them in all the kits i have done of thiers ! The Eduard barrel looks nice , although it has no rifling . Looking for a Jaguar interior kit for it as well ( I am going to light the inside up on it !)

QUOTE: Kenneth, I'd never have the patience to carve out bricks
.... WIPW I built the same tracks you are doing and believe me if you can make those tracks you can carve out cobble stones. It didn't take me as long to make and paint the whole base as it did to assemble one side of those MK tracks.... Truly... Give it a go.. I think you'll be suprised.... It ain't no thang...

Spector, I got an eched grill set from aber and thats about it. I have a generic clamps and clasp set I'll use but other than that I figured I'd scratchbuild what ever I needed or modify kit parts. I already got a chunk in this kit I like to kinda go back and forth with detailing. Do one up and the make the next SOTB so I don't get burned out... I am thinking of putting an engine in it though... I think I have a an HL230 laying around somewhere...

Jeffl, Your Panther is looking smooth.. I really like it.... Get some paint on it nowTongue [:P]

All, Thanks a ton for the comments... I finnaly got my house and shop back in order. Of course then out came the sprayer to paint a Famo and I set out my KT to start working this evening.....Big Smile [:D] yeahh....

Larry looking good. That Zim looks nice, wonder how it compares to the Cavalier stuff.

Jeff, nice little panther. (The itty bitty kitty committee has a new member). My eyes couldn't cope with 1/72nd scale. Hope to see the painted beast soon.

Bill, They call me nuts for drilling out the DML track guidehorns, but you guys gluing individual horns to tracks have to be just as mad! Looks like it may be a race to see who will be the last to finish - probably me. Been sneaking off to the Achilles for the Sherman Group Build whilst the paint on my Panther interior dries.......then I forget what I'm supposed to be finishing first.

Just whom is still building at the moment?
Me, Kenneth, Larry, Bill, Jeff........

hi guysSmile [:)]
i'm still building at the moment...
last night i used the some of the weathering techniques outlined by djmodels99 over in the techniques forumSmile [:)]
i used a watercolour wash of sepia and black on the wheels and superstructure, and a thick oil wash of burnt umber on the tracks...still waiting for that to dry.
will have to leave it as i'm off to moscow tomorrow morning (stag/bachelor/bucks' partyBig Smile [:D]), so i guess it should all be dry by the time i come back on sunday.
after that just have to attach the tow cables (metal from accurate armour); i may add a commaner figure, but i'm not sure.
as ever, all the pics i keep seeing put my work to shame!Disapprove [V]
some fantastic looking kitties out there!Cool [8D]

nick

I am still building too!
my indy links are moving into the marathon category,
but i think i am starting to get a feel for it.
i have the runs done to go around the sprockets & idlers,
the long straights done for both sides
and 2 of the connecting "slant" pieces done for one side.
if i can get that side married up acceptably, the 2nd side should go a bit quicker.
there has been a lot of measure, glue, measure, glue . . .

Kenneth: I figured I would put aside any more joining of group builds for a bit to do this Tiger , ordered aber etched parts , boy are those gonna be complicated! , edaurd barrel ,the kit itself ,( that was a chore they don't make henschell anymore as far as I can tell ) the interior kit ( that thing looks awesome ) and may go with MK tracks ( just to try them and see what they look like !) thats about it here , should take me quite a while to complete , and seeing that work is finally starting to pick up , it may never get done ! So this may be my last gung ho kit for a while ! regards .... Shawn

I'm still building too too! I think I'm at that stage where you are about to finish a project and you stall out near the finish line.

believe it or not, i'm still building !
i had 2 remove the spare trax from my ersatz because i realized i had put on
ones w/ single guide horns (gasp of horror here)...
so i scrounged some proper ones from an unbuilt Revell Panther D/A kit,
& it looks much better now.
also been doing work on the diorama base...
used a Verlinden european farmhouse kit, there was no way i could have scratchbuilt the setting in time for the (scheduled) end of build !
pix r being posted 2 ronusmc site as i type !
i'll post 'em in my ersatz m10 thread when they're all up...
if i can remember how !

everybody else's builds r looking really good...
there's nothing like a plethora of Panthers !

Progress for today...

I finished the second run of MK tracks. Looks like 86 links per side is going to do it. I've got the last side painted black on the inside. Will try to paint the outside black tonight (rattle can).

I finished zimming the storage bins. I got some Bondo Cream Hardener (small tube for about $1.50) and used it. I didn't get the tube kneeded well enough and got too much liquid when I used it, but it did work. And man, does it give you more work time with the Tamiya putty. It was still not set up after about 4 hours. (This may be partially due to not having the tube kneeded properly!! lol). The hardener is red as opposed to the Tamiya being green. Next time, I will make sure I get it right! But like I say, it did work and looks good.

I'm going to attempt to fashion a clamp for the exhaust pipes out of some brass fret, if I can find some that's about the right width. I should be able to take measurements from the Aber set for my DML Panther. Once I get that on, it will be time to put the rear hull plate on, figure out some way to close off the bottom of the sponsons, and glue it all together.

Have fun, all. I think I'm trying real hard to be last, though!!

Yeah, Eric, I get that. My #3 son has a science project due TOMORROW! I won't be working on anything tonight. I'll get the tracks painted black, but that's it for today!!

Sorry if I sound ignorant Frosty, what happened to your Ersatz? Was it finished and I somehow missed it? I recall some pics of it.

Another good one Frosty. As you can see, plain dark yellow makes the Panther a bit bigger and meaner. Like it a lot.
