Hey SMJ,

I just want to double check with you to be sure I am clear on the criteria for this GB.  You are strictly looking for TANKS, not something built on a tank's chassis, correct?  So, for example, the Mobelwagen would not be acceptable because, even though it is built on a Pz IV chassis, it is not a tank?  Right?  How about things like Stugs or Jagdpanthers?  Again, out because they are not tanks?  I think you have probably stated this all somewhere before, but I did not see it in my quick review of the thread...

I am currently in a heated negotiation with dupes over a possible kit swap, so until that is completed I will not be able to tell you what I will be contributing to this build.  Hopefully it will be settled soon Party [party], but he keeps backpeddling when I ask him for his first born and/or the deed to his house... jeepers, does he want my kit or not??? Tongue [:P]

Hermesminiatures: "take it or leave it", huh?...hmmm...let me think about that some more because I do like it.  What about that other picture you posted a while back with the T34 and German tank in all that twisted steel near that factory and smokestack???  Is that still a possibility?

Townsy11:  I'll add you to the list, good to have some modern tanks in this GB too!!!

Actually that badge uses an existing picture so I can't move the tanks around...kind of a take-it-or-leave it situation.

And yes, that's an FT-17, not a Russian tank.

1) Move the Abrams to the small position in back where the Russian tank is (there are few entries in that group (sorry Townsy11)

2)  How about a T34 Russian tank instead, in the current Abrams location

Well then won't that require the entire right-side of the street to be changed? (because of the Middle-eastern buildings?) and the "russian tank" looks more like a WWI French Renault Ft-17...

Hmmmm... with the Bradley out now......decisions, decisions....I know Shermans could be a good option, but I didn't really want to get going on another one with one Sheman going already for Winter Warriors. If I can find a pic of a Stuart in the city, maybe.......Otherwiase, I'll get back to ya....

Also, here is an idea for a badge:

The picture is much cooler in a larger size - the street has WWII-era european buildings on the side that the Sherman sits, and modern middle-eastern ones on the side that the Abrams sits.

I couldn't really do much with that diorama picture, since it already had text on it.

Opinions?

Here's a 2A6M, admittedly not the same variant, but you could probably get away with a 'theoretical' build if you did the urban camo...that's what the A6E/EX's will probably look like when they do get into urban service...

These are pics of a Spanish Leopard 2A6E.  It dosnt actually show the tank ... but the gun sites in an urban enviroment.  All the other pics I could find of this tank are from parades or at  millitary shows.

I dont think this tank has seen much action ... but i could be wrong.  I am good at being wrong Wink [;)]

Townsy11:  Don't give up yetSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]...just find a way to prove it DID serve in an urban setting...text, video...???  OR commit to a dio', doesn't have to be real elaborate, buy a pre-made Verlinden gig if you have to, and you're IN!!!

Guys: CAN YOU HELP TOWNSY OUT HERE ?!?!?

Alas, I can't find a single photo of a Leo2A6E/EX in an urban enviroment because it is so new and is hardly even in service yet, and if this GB is tanks only then that rules out my Bradley and BMP-1. So, sorry SMJ but I got nothin'.

dupes: WOW, I missed thatBlack Eye [B)], I saw the treads and didn't realize it was a Bradley!!!

corvettemike: Sorry if I mis-lead youAshamed [*^_^*]...that picture of the Bradley is great for its setting and context, but you need to be SURE to add a tank as your vehicle.

Right...we're talking about that M2A2 Bradley? As far as I know, while it's "armor", it certainly isn't considered a "tank". I personally don't care - if the GB is really any urban armor that's fine with me - but I really thought you had wanted to make a tanks-only GB in the run-up thread. Shy [8)]

dupes:  This GB is for TANKS ONLY.  corvettemike had two photos a couple posts before the armored vehicle you saw.  He wondered what that vehicle in the that photo was, it was not an entry idea.  The earlier post had a picture taken in Baghdad of a modern tank knocking down a picture of Huessein...he plans to use that for his entry.

Hey Boyd, don't worry about the halftrack GB - it won't get going for a while. I'm thinking probably about 5 months in the making - maybe an end of summer sort of dealie. September 1 to the end of December? Something like that. Allllll 251 series, btw. None of those "other" halftracks. Wink [;)]

Has a thread been started on that yet?  I would love to build one of my 251s this year!  Cool [8D]

Hey Scott - no official thread yet. I've been throwing this one around for a few months now, shooting ideas back and forth with JThurston - and I've already got you on my short list from some other post a while back. Laugh [(-D] Currenly the roster is you, me, Thurston, Hermes, and Slightly_Altered. I haven't completely hashed out the details, but I think what is going to happen is it will be a limited GB - along the same vein as your Panzer Aces build - where only one of each variant (all 22+ of them) will be allowed. SO, once the 251/2 is taken (for example) no one else can bang that one out. Still not 100% sure of the timeframe, trying to make it fit with all of the other GB's that are going on. Cool [8D]

Sorry to hijack the UA thread to promote my own (future) GB. Heh.

Oh, one question (brought about by corvette_mike's entry) - I was under the belief that this one was supposed to be "tanks"? As opposed to "armor"? I'm probably wrong, but I seem to remember some other ideas being shot down as not fitting the criteria? Confused [%-)]

corvettemike: Typically, kits need to be unstarted...that's a pretty common requirement, but I need to check if I stipulated that in the guidelines...I may make an exception if you only have a little done.  That tank picture would be great..will you being making a dio' of it?

What the heck, I'll get in on this one! Does it have to be an unstarted kit??? If not, I'll put up my M2A2 since it's not that far along. Plenty of them were (and still are) used on the streets of Bagdhad and other cities, see above post photo.....
