Now a bit update on my entry. It is a Tamiya 1/48 Mk II.

I am close to finish the cockpit and close the fuselage. I used the conversion set to Mk II and Eduard PE parts (some... not proficient with dealing with PE parts yet )

Beautiful job, Frank!!  That is a great looking Corsair!  I think I read earlier that you undercoated with silver to get that very realistic weathered look - it's great. 

Looks like you have a great start, too, Greg.  Looking forward to more pics. 

I'm just getting mine out of the box after finishing my Mustang for that GB, but am feeling a bit intimidated after seeing the great work in this thread.      I've seen some neat ideas in here and hope to steal some of them.  (That's my privilege as a relative newcomer, isn't it?  )

Thats' it buzz!!!! Be a sponge and soak it all up and still put out perfectly drinkable water! If that makes sense, LOL! Sorry, been hitting the rum a bit. Seriously you're fine mate, I just love the comeradery here and in all forums really, and living and learning and building something to be proud of as well as your peers is always a plus!!!! It's not stealing its sharing of knowledge.

  OK guys. I have been working on the left pannel for 2 days now, and I`m gona call it done. The upper quadrent was a bear. I redid the knobs 3 times, lost a couple to the carpet monster also. Darn there small!! But here it is, I must say I`m very happy with the hard work. Of course all feedback, good or bad is always welcome..........Harv

Harv, two days of hard work, dedication, fights with carpet monster and only 5% of it will be visible isn't it awful ?

I also spent some long hours on mine and finally I think its done. When I closed the cockpit .... not much can be seen there

Hey everyone...Finally broke sprue last night on my Birdcage Corsair!! Working on the pit and found the Eduard PE seat a bit too wide so opting to use the kit seat (which really isnt bad for Tamiya)..think I'll sand down the sides a bit to give it more of a thinner look.

well since i have 3 votes for option 2 i guess that's what i'll go with. 

Ok guys I got one corsair done. Its the F4U-5N, Sorry for not showing the WIP I got carried away and built this in a week. I did take alot of photos but some were acidentally deleted, I managed to save a couple. Here it is the Pilot by the way was Guy Bordelon the only navy ace in the Korean War.

Great looking night Corsair, and Daywalker, wonderful job.  Fred, I know what you are going through. I just painted mine and everything turned out fine, except a clogging airbrush.  But that wasn't the worse part, I have had some pretty bad luck lately with liquid mask so I switched brands to Microsol and ended up with a pin hole when I painted the canopy.  Now I have a big blue goober dead nut in the center of my canopy.  Even worse, since I was having a hard time airbrushing acrylics, I changed to an enamel so this bugger isn't coming off.

Thanks for the comments.  I am taking a break this week to finish up a DC-6, then will raid my wifes petticure supplies for acrylic powder to repair my canopy.  Hope to be finished up in a few weeks on the Corsair.

Great job, everyone

I finally got everything in to give this bird another go.  Got the Tammy -1D, the Eduard 'pit set, the resin gun bays and the canopy masks.

I'm nearing completion of a Bearcat that I started in the meantime.  I hope to start the corsair over the next weekend.

And how would one repair a canopy with acrylic powder?????? My wife has a hair and beauty salon and has plenty of acrylic powder I could 'borrow' and gel that sets up under UV light. Hmmm on to something here, never thought of that before.
