Dang Harv, that looks great! Remind me what scale that is? Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Finally got all the masking and prep work done on my Corsair, was able to fire the preshade last night.

Weather for the next few days looks good, should get the 3-color scheme on by the end of the week! Cool [8D]

Thanks DUPES, I`m glad you like it. Its 1/32 (anything smaller and it never would of happened!) Your preshading looks like it will turn out great. I did the same with my F105 and it worked out great. Keep posting.............Harv

Harv, Beautiful engine, are you building the model with open cowlings?  It's worth considering.

Dupes.  I love the preshading.  It'll look great with color coats applied.  It's one of my favorite techniques too.  The bird-cage looks great, it must have been a challenge to mask.  I have to build a bird-cage one of these days.

It's great to see all these builds just coming together.  I'm going offline for a while to move.  I can't wait to see what you guys do while I'm away.

Semper Fi,

Chris

Looks grat, Harv, but I really feel sorry for you now.  Once you've done it to one kit, you're going to do it to all of your kits.  from now on, each engine is going to take you this long - it doesn't get any faster, no matter how many you do.

Dupes, the preshading looks good.  I'm interestd in seeing how it comes out under the dark sea blue.

Chris, while you're gone, we're going to move the entire group build and not tell you where - you'll just have to look for us Laugh [(-D].

Yeah, you better believe it. I hope it comes out o.k., not my best job ever. Meh. Sooooo many windows - mighta shoulda bought a pre-cut one. Heh.

No pics yet, waiting to get the intermediate blue thrown down in between the insignia blue + white. Thought I might get to it tonight, but not looking good. Let me see what I can do. Wink [;)]

Chris you probably won't see this but I hope your move isn't too painful.  I know for me moving is one of the least fun things to do ever.

Dupes I like the pre-shade it a great technique that I use all the time, although with my Corsair being black I might just pass on it this time and go straight to post shade.

Progress wise, due to several well established international agreements I have begun on the cockpit.  So far I've done a pre-shade over the whole thing in black and fitted the sidewall detail to the fuselage, it's not much but I'll take a pic tonight.  Unfortunately a couple of the small resin bits were broken on arrival (including the control column) so I'll be using the kit parts as replacements.

Cheers

Commander Fred, I am hereby reporting for duty sir! I am not all talk, lol. Here are a few pics of my build that I have just broken sprue on and would like to OFFICIALLY join this group build. I have a quickboost engine that says its supposed to be for a -5, however the pics I've seen of the -5 doesn't match up to this engine so with further research to confirm, I might use it on this one if its close enough.

Cheers, Richie

Hey Richie, glad to see you starting your bird.

When we have a year-long build like this, I prefer to see some people start a little later as it keeps the momentum going.  It also acts as inspiration for people who are struggling through the build.

Ritchie glad to have you along for the ride especially with another Korean bird.  By the way are you doing the Marine Corps version or the Navy version?

Well, I've got a bit done lately, just no pics. Should be able to lay down the intermediate blue today, I think. Planned on having this one done this week, but it looks like Nationals is going to get in the way. Shock [:O]

I promise I'll finish her up when I get back, though. Wink [;)]

Harv, Congratulations to your parents!!!!!!!Party [party] My parents celebrated there 63rd anniversery in February!

My quickboost engine must be for a -1 to -1D, it has the conical crankcase. So I have ordered an engine from E&T for it. A -42W, and have bought an Academy -1 so I can use that engine. Already have the Blacksheep decals for it. Now have to get an engine for my -5 and other bits for all.

Cheers, Richie

Richie-

Glad to see you here!

Harv and dupes- good to see you're both still building. Thumbs Up [tup]

If ya'll don't mind, I think I'd like to build another Corsair here.  After seeing a few at EAA last week, I have an itch to do another!

Fred- Please put me down for another one!  I'll be doing a Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1/2 this time 'round! Big Smile [:D]

Frank, do we mind? Build on Brother!!!!!!Big Smile [:D]

Had a lil progress today, bent up and attached the PE rudder pedals. Had a scare though, I dropped one! Luckily it stayed on my chair and wasn't succumbed to the depths of the carpet monster. Will be attempting to spray genuine primer green poly for the interior and assorted bits. We have lil touch up pens of the stuff and its pretty thin. Will thin a bit more and shoot. See what happens 2morra. Will definately dust on a few tie coats first and slowly build it up. Don't know how hot this stuff is. Ordered the engine for it as well. On the right track so far.Smile [:)]

Jacob- I don't know anything about the Academy kits, but I have heard a lot of wonderful things about that little Tamiya kit.  I hope you try another one, and stick around for a bit! Thumbs Up [tup]
