Free to a Good Home - I have a Duplicate F4U Corsair in Action by squadrron /signal publications # 145. I would like for someone that Truly wants this for research on building their Corsair for this GB to get it. If your looking to trade or sell it dont bother contacting me. PM me if interested. I will check PM's by time recieved and also the GB member list.

Squad Yeah the pic is blurry, I didn't feel like getting the tripod out. Whistling [:-^]

Thanks Frank. Glad to hear from you. As a matter of fact cut my finger this morning working on the wheel wells. I sanded the snot out of the resin wells like some suggested but still no fitty. So the wings will be locked "down" Oh well (get it..."well") But thats about it for now. Glad to finally see some posting, and building going on here..........Harv

Sean, I`d take you up on the book, but you`ve already been too kind I`m sure somone else here can use it.

If it's still available, I would love to take this off your hands..about to dive into my "birdcage" for this GB and could use some extra research.

Did some more work on the wheel wells today. I`m finding out I`m not a big fan of Lonestar. The doors are poor at best. The wells them self are ok, good detail, but lots of clean up and filling pin holes. BUT... I have the Verlindon set and I`ll use the doors and stuts from that. The wells WILL NOT WORK on the Revell. Totaly different fron Trup. wich the set was made for. I have the flap set fom Lonestar, and they arnt quite as bad. There the only game in town for 1/32 revell. They will require some work though...........Harv

Here is what I have so far. Sorry for not posting anything but I have been a little busy with moving and working on another build. Please excuse the crappy photos. I couldn't get the camera to focus up close on the 'pit no matter what I tried. All comments are welcome.

I also have a bunch of other parts painter interior green just didn't see any point in posting them. Thanks for looking.

Regards,

Jeff

Bit of progress, Got the pit in,engine situated, and fuse buttoned up!!!!! YAYYYYY! However, the lil clamps I used to keep the tail area together were a tad to strong and cracked the vertical inwards a bit and the tailcone just aft of the horiz. stab area. It's salvageable after pushing the bits together close enough to at least be able to sand it out. I mean it looked like a slow motion shatter. It was one of those Censored [censored] moments I must say.Blush [:I]

Here are a few pics. The first one is of the damage to the vertical. You can just make out the offending cracks made by the pressure of the clamp. Just aft of the vertical you can just make out the area of the tailcone. I think with a lil sanding and filler it will pass inspection.

And now for the good news. It went together well though just the seams to fill and sand really. I'll feel much better once I fix the tail as best as I can. Enjoy!

Just thought of an idea that I will try! I haven't got the tail wheel in yet ,soooooooooo, will try and see if I can shove something in to push out the rudder a bit through the mounting hole so it won't be so noticeable at least. Whew, not so anxious now! That's if it works!

I spent the better part of today in the workshop working hard on my Corsairs.  I managed to finish up the cockpits on both, and must admit I am rather pleased with them.  I decided to try something a little different of them with the seatbelts.  Rather than have them laying neatly on the seat, I posed them throw over the sides of the seat to suggest either the pilot threw them off after landing, or perhaps the ground crew put them like that to ease getting in for the pilot.  Thought it might be easier to strap in with the belts off to the side instead of under his bum!  Either way, I like the way they look.  I also added a leather map case to the right console, and scratchbuilt a radar scope for the night fighter in lieu of a conventional gunsight.  I painted the interiors dull dark green and black, as these were the colors specified for these early Corsairs.  Hope you like! Big Smile [:D]

First off...Daywalker, your 'pits are looking great!  Can't wait to see the rest of the build.

Finally finished my "Big Hog", which I lovingly nicknamed "Little Guinea Pig".  Lot of firsts for me on this kit.  It was my first Tamiya kit, first time using an airbrush (Paasche H), first time using Microsol/set, first time using Bare Metal foil (masked canopy), & first time using Future.

The airbrush took a little getting used to.  I'm not a pro by any means, but each time I shot paint, I felt a little more comfortable.  I loved the Microsol/set solutions, being patient & gentle worked for me.  BMF for masking canopies was a bit of a challenge.  I did have some paint bleed thru.  Also had some residue stick.  Future was interesting.  I read a plethora of articles on this forum looking for tips.  Some had good experience using a heavy coat, others used a few light coats.  I initially tried a heavy coat, but had alot of runs & puddles.  I "erased" the future with some windex.  Next I tried a few light coats, this was the method that worked for me.

Here are the pics:

Thanks for letting me join, this was alot of fun & a great learning experience Smile [:)]  I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the builds.

darth- Now THAT is one fine looking Corsair!  If that was your first time with an airbrush, you are seriously on your way to becoming a pro in no time at all.  I really like the look of your build, I would be proud to put that one in my display case.  Well done! Bow [bow]

And, thanks for the kind words!  I do hope you'll stick around for a bit.  Lots of fun to be had here yet! Big Smile [:D]
