Yep! Was there (Beijing, Shanghai, Xian) last summer with the family, amazing experience. The squashed avatar pic was taken in the "tourist" section of the wall, north of Beijing.

And yes, I did pick up a few Lee and Trumpeter kits for 1-2$ USD each ;)

   I was doing some research this mornig and ran across this info, I thought you all would be interested. The web site I got the info from is  www.philsaeronauticalstuff.com It states that these are pressure relief ports without the cover and 3 smaller screw off covers.  Great pit pics also. Got the engine finished (Yay)

since I didn't read the instructions carefully enough,I glued the cowling together on the premise that said engine would just slot in How wrong was I?????????? have had to split cowling insert engine and reglue not a great fit so I now have a big filling and sanding job and guess what I also forgot to photograph the engine before I inserted it into the cowling.anyhoo will hope to post some photos soon the pit is coming along adding exta bits here and there...

Moral of this tale READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

Harv: Way to go on your build!! Looking GOOD .  I like the hose idea.

Gzt: You'll like the Tamiya kit as it's pretty nice in and of itself.  On interior colors..In the F4U Corsair detail and scale book (Squadron) I mentioned in an above post it mentions and shows in color photos that many Corsairs were painted with flat black fuselage interiors and side cockpit areas instead of the traditional overall yellow zinc chromate.  On page 37 the F4U-1D/FG-1D cockpit area shown has flat black fuselage sides, instrumanet panel, and both port and starboard control panels are painted overall in flat black.  Rest of cockpit interior including seat and framework, foot rests, and rudder pedals are yellow zinc chromate.  The control stick on this example also was painted flat black below the grip.  Most likely as the War progressed they were painted with whatever was on hand at the time or field painted later when repairs were made.

I am finishing my Me 109 and just got a Tamiya F4U-1D (1/48). Decided to get more than just one cosrsair .

It seems to be pretty nice kit (I do not expect anything less from tamiya ) and I plan to start working on my cockpit.

Tamiya suggests interiror color: yellow zinc chromate (at least it looks this way reading their color combination right). Was this color for all Corsairs (especially Mk II for Britts) ????? 

    OK, Joes pics inspired me to show todays progress. Any comments welcome. The hose on the right is something I learned from the forum. Its a shaft seal spring. The are great for all kinds of things. Sofar I`m real happy with the pit sofar. Enjoy.........Harv

Thanks, Daywalker, for staying with me and for your nice comment.  This is my first plastic aircraft build in about 40 years and my first ever cockpit enhancement try.  I'm still picking up those little critters that flew off on there own though... !
