I always hear the term pin wash. What is it and how does it work? |

Pin washes, at least the way I do them, is a more concentrated mix with the oil paints. I usually use raw umber and/or burnt umber for rust. It helps acceuntuate bolts, rivets, welded on grab bars etc...
Just saw the final product pic's, she came out really nice! I mentioned the camo' before but I wanted to commend you again on how good that looks! A couple suggestions if I may: before those washes dry (on the vertical surfaces), use a flat brush slightly dampened with mineral spirits, using a downward motion, "pull" the oils creating streaks..it adds realism. The tow cables have a bit to much wash on them, IMO...go for a bit cleaner look with a touch of rust (similar to tracks). Lastly, I think the tracks need some more mud beween the cleats.
Nice King Tiger, glad you got it completed, and I hope you enjoyed this GB...go grab that badge sir!
bish: superb attention to detail, I like all the open hatches!..the ones for the storage boxes behind the turret are especially well done. Some thoughts/suggestions: The tow cables are a bit too thick, what did you use for those? I think someone mentioned it already, but IMO the road wheels are a bit too clean. I can quite explain it, and I think this is a fine build, but it feels a bit "busy"...alomst like too much happening...I think it needs a dio' for context...maybe that's it...hmmm. Go grab the badge, and thanks for being part of this GB!!!
