CAG-

Let's see if I make make this clear:

Bondo sez: "It's a bluury timishness in the watch when'er the Adm'rlness o'th house takes an'Ill, an we'd alay all disc'pln till Her Highnesses are steady o'keel.Pirate [oX)]

Whatever that means, but it's genuine.

Bondoman LtCmr jg sez: I think he means love her and giv'er a tot an sail to the lee!

I will say best wishes and prayers and may she soon sail on a clear sea and be well.

Darren, i hope everything with your missus is going to be ok. Dont fret if you cant get to the computer for a while. Im sure there is a load of willing standins to act on your behalf.

Ive recently got out from Wisdom teeth extraction and have an ulcer at the back of my throat the size of your thumbnail. Nicccceeee.

Soulcrusher, Heres the 109 i started. It says its Gallands on the Destruction sheet but theres no sign of his Mickey mouse insignia.

Aaron, I remember seeing a picture of one of Gallands planes that had an Ashtraywelded to the front canopy frame. He was a cool guy. Probably a publicity stunt though LOL.

Oh yeah ive sourced the He 111 kit. Its a Hasagawa 111p model so should be ok for the GB

Guy- Galland had a few different paint versions during the BoB, his E-3's and one E-4 didn't have the Mickey Mouse emblem.  The one most people have come to recognize as his aircraft was actually from December of 1940 when the BoB was more or less over.  This is the one with the Schlageter "S", the Mickey Mouse emblem, Kommodore bars and yellow rudder with the red and black Abschussen.

In addition to the ash tray he claimed to have the only 109 equipped with a cigar lighter.

Luftwoller That is the one I just finished. She is a beautifull kit and goes together like a charm. I also finished it in Adolf'smarkings. If i remember it dates from August 1940. I build mine straight OObB and enjoyed every minute of it. here a pic of mine.

Yawn.... just woke up and was trying to read the updates. Still have a lot of sleep in my eyes,

Guy that is really great. I had an old Tamiya E-3 ( Galland) that had the mouse and the markings. I have been waiting for a rerelease for years but haven't seen it.Question [?] t really is one of the few kits I think I actually want pretty bad.  So you can see my excitement in your choice!Tongue [:P] I had a bad experience when my wisdom teeth were extracted. Involved an Army dentist with his boot on my forehead and a large set of vise grips. Taped Shut [XX] How does that saying go? What doesn't kill us makes us stronger? I hope you are doing better and the worst is over.

SoulCrusher Sign - Ditto [#ditto] except the part about the wisdom teeth. I hope.

The site seems a bit sluggish this AM so I can keep up. Got the main part of the camo painting all done. In the hope that when Darren gets back soon and all is well I changed my green expert to one from down under. I really don't like outsourcing but Yoda had another gig. Still thinking of you and the Missus Darren, I pray things are well and you will both be back soon!Thumbs Up [tup]

Really the experts I am looking at are the past post from Mike. Stan, Guy, Frank,  Karl, Dave, Mikester,  Greg and everyone else in the magic mirror. Paying special attention to the Mikesters and Stan's expert weathering that I want to emulate. No offense Frank but I hope it doesn't take me 3 trys to get past the props........ Bow [bow] What can I say you are a perfectionist and it will show in the end.

Still have some details to scratch such as the directional guidance antenna that are on the bottom and a few small things. Curious ommissions as the are shown on the diagrams of the Aircraft. Well It is my weekend so I'll make a pot of coffee and have at it! Cowboy [C):-)]

Soulcrusher, that is one sweet looking bird. I hope to heck mine looks half as good. One question though. I thought that the 'E's had a visible join along the top of the rear fuzz and no line on the bottom? I may be wrong. (Probably am)

Sheez, I need to pay closer attention!

Greg, Guy- Great work

Aaron- Looks like you nailed that splinter scheme on the Dornier pretty well.  I better get going or you're going to over take me!

Frank- Bad enough you're putting us to shame with your current work, now you've got to drag out old stuff too?! Big Smile [:D]  Looks great!

Darren, hope your wife gets better soon.

Guy, nice progress on the cockpit.

Didn't Galland's machine have a telescopic sight as well?

Aaron, great job on the Dornier.

Progress Update

I've exhumed the Hasa He111 from the cupboard where it has lain for the last 2 years.

Currently sorting out a few seams, as the bulk of the airframe was complete when I left it.

Actually Guy you probally are correct about the seam. i did not know if there was a seam there or not so I just build it without it. Thanks for the positive input. I appreciate it greatly. I am sure your bird will be top notch when it is done. Mabye we should defray to the experts. Is there suppposed to be a seam on the spine of the E series or should it be smooth. The world waits and wonders?

Darren hope things work out there on the home front.

Both those galland E's look real good. Nice clean lines.

I think all 109 had a seam along the spine on both the top and the bottom. I sure all E's and up did. I don't really get too much into the nitty gritty of very early 109's (a thru d) I know a fair bit of them but my knowledge and interest mostly lies mostly with E thru K variaents. I can't remember if was on here or another site but someone mentioned that the hard line camo not being right for that E-3. If fact it is. Up to the F camo types could of had a hard line on the fuselage. After that it is rarely if ever seen outside of special flight mechines.

sfcmac Thanks for the compliment, I strive to make them as real looking as possible. It looks like you got the camo down no problem. It looks great.

Stan,

You're correct, the seam along the bottom was present from the beginning.  The fuselage aft of the cockpit was constructed of concentric halves, "clam shells".  This was trait carried through the entire production of the 109.

Thx for the advice on the seams lads. Id scribed the top, as was fairly sure of that sucker but not so on the bottom. I will now. Anyhoo. Ive been a busy beaver with the 109 and have attached the wings and tailplanes. Ill leave the supports off untill painted.

My intention was to build this out of the box but you know how it is LOL. I hacked the rears of the rads away and posed them open using styrene sheet.

For anyone thinking it looks like hard work. This took about 5 mins per side. I reckon they look fairly decent.

For some reason gunsights bug me. They are far too thick. So did some fettling on this one.

sorry for the quality of the pics as i took them with my phone. I believe you can actually make calls with it as well!!!

The canopy parts are drying after a soak in Future. Next is mask them, then paint. Mmmmmm. cant wait.

That has to be some sort of record for Hannants!Shock [:O]

I usually allow at least a fortnight for anything I order from them, no seriously I do.

Now Models for Sale, they are quick.

But what did arrive?

Nice progress on the 109, those rad flaps look very cool.

Making calls on a phone, that's radical.

Guy- DANG!  Now that's cool.  I really enjoy those quick, cheap lil' improvements.  You know, I haven't painted mine yet so I think I will have a go at that idea as well.  Thanks for the inspiration! Big Smile [:D]
