Glad you liked it Frank. It seems far more solid than PE stuff.

Karl, i had to pay an extra Squidoo for next day delivery. With the kit came the Eduard interior set for the Hienkel. So i now have the CMK Resin (Painted in my earlier post) and the Eduard interior set. Should make for a fairly detailed glasshouse on the big bird.

P.s Who are 'Models for sale'? Not heard of that one.

Guy, I'll have to try that paying extra for service thing....

http://www.modelsforsale.com/

Not the same range of AM as Hannants, but an excellent selection of kits, tools, etc, and unlike Hannants they will ship paint without first purchasing a kit.

And they deliver within 48 hours of the order being placed on standard P&P.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hannants, I just wish they were a little quicker.

Which He111 have you got the H or the P?

I picked up Airdocs He111 P and early H book today. Lots of great pics, none of which I've seen before.

Nice work on the 109 Guy, you and Frank are setting the bar unbelievably high for the rest of us.  It's a nice view from down here though Wink [;)]

Mark, love the Stuka.  Can't wait to see what markings you choose.

She is looking great so far there Guy. I'm going to use your radiator door trick on my next 109 build. I just purchased the 1/48 Hasegawa Me 109 E "Night Fighter". I think it will be a perferct candidate for your radiator detail trick. Can't wait to see some paint on it!

Dave- You are too kind my friend!  The talent displayed around here is humbling, you fellas do excellent work! Bow [bow]

I put a final gloss coat of Future on the Spit last night, she should be ready for the weathering in another day or so.  The '109 got the canopy pieces installed, and tonight I plan to mask off the nose and wingtips and get her ready for some more paint!  Haven't stripped the spinner yet, and it's sitting here laughing at me (Oh, boy...the model parts are beginning to talk to me!).  But rest assured, I WILL prevail! Approve [^]

Hmmm I seem to have misplaced my Propeller Hub cover? Odd wonder where it went. I knew I shouldn't have cleaned up! Now I can't find a dern thing. Oh yeah great job on that there Emil guy. Straight from the box is easier said than done eh? Mark me likey STuka's! What a way to keep us in suspense! Looks good paint it pink and white and say it was Der Fuerer's personal attack aircraft when he challenged Winston Churchill to a thumb wrestling contest and lost his thing like they sing about in a separate peace. Or not......Shock [:O]

Hey Frank did you do something I missed? ( Looking around) Still lost as usual.

Odd thing about hi CA kit many thing sem o be missing. Nothing big but litle detail stuff like antenna's the pitot tube. Odd stuff easy enough to make but not included or spoken of.

Well I faded the top colors a bit by airbrushing some old ( real old) Tamiya field Gray thinned (reconstituted) with 90% rubbing alcohol. Its effects were very suttle and after 3 coats it had blended or added just enough fade to tone it down a bit.  I also added some fine copper wire brake lines and scratch built some stuff that I promply broke off while getting the masking tape off. The masking job is ok. Pretty good for me but I still had a few spots that need touch up or cleaning. I dunno does the future coat allow for a clean up of the bleed under or tape goo?  Beats me. Guess I could actually start decaling and see what I can break doing that.Confused [%-)]

Here is a completely random picture as it sits right now!

On your missing prop hub cover, what does it look like?  If it's similar to one on a '109, I may have you covered.

Ok I had some coffee and took a break things were starting to blur together. If it makes you feel better I am not sure what I mean either. Think I need to get off the bench for an hour or so.  109 Hub? Hmmmmm that is interesting definatly food for thought and my thoughts are bizzarro! Speaking of which me thinks it is time to dress the wife up as Sussanah York again at the very least time to get out the cave and shower. Here have another random pic!

You can see how I need to clean up the dust and debree left from the violent unmasking process and a bit of touch up on the demarkation between the blue and green. Yep the navigator/bomb aimer has both hands on the bombsite peering through. Hard to get past he glare but the details show up well.

I don't know if youcan see the fad / blend well or not. After the sun goes down the camera doesn't like the shop lighting. Well off to find Susannah!Whistling [:-^]

Well looks like everyone went to bed. Fine timing as I got his issue. I had no idea Sussanh York

was Superman's mother.... Why didn't someone tell me?

So any how I had to go find her and steal her away from this curious bloke?

So to really get on her good side I showed her my models. ( babe magnets) she was impressed!

I still needed a shower so she tagged along........

I think she got the wrong idea when I showed her my new compressor!

We spent all night looking for my lost hub cover think she got all tuckered out.

Anyways she liked the Models so much I can't get her to leave now?

AND after all this I still can't find my prop hub! ( You guys should never leave me alone with fresh coffee)Wink [;)]

Karl, Mike, Guy, you ae all absolutely correct except I think it was the paint fumes and not the glue that got me.Thumbs Up [tup] Still amazed at the missing details on this kit.So far I have made the loop antenna which I expected. Then there is the pitot tube, antenna, direction finders, and now the little small flaps on the wing and tail flaps. Funny they have decals for them and directions on the decal sheet but they are not on the model. Also the paint scheme is not quite correct as it shows it carried completely down the side and should end aproximately at the bottom of the horizontal part of the balkenkreuz. (cross) Little odd things that are adding up. Not hard to correct but I want to list them as someone may tackle this kit themselves. Now if I can just untie myself......Confused [%-)]

Aaron, i missed out on your write up of where you got that kit? Was it 2nd hand with bits missing? Or do you have an over active carpet monster? To me, a non experten on the type, it looks great so far fella. Looking forward to seeing it badged up.

Hey guys I'm back on board and SWMBO is making a very nice recovery from her surgery at home now. She's very tired and sore but feeling much better which is really what counts. Unfortunately for me the list of "honey do's" I have is getting longer by the hour but that's just fine by me.

On behalf of Sonia (my good lady wife) and myself I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all the kind words and wishes posted in this thread, it was really very much appreciated by both of us.

Aaron OMFG, reading that last page with your Suzanna York post nearly made me fall of my chair laughing Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D].

I'll take a proper look at the last couple of pages of posts tonight so I can get back up to date with what's been happening.

Cheers

Darren I am very happy to hear that you are back and Mrs Sonia is home recovering under your attentions. What can I say I'm just a sucker for happy endings. Hopefully the soreness will pass soon and you can get back to the normal romantic things such as what me and my wife (Dee) do. ( Argue over which is more important, models or shoes) Very glad to hear some good news and know you both are home! Party [party]

Ah the kit was brand new guy. Never opened the parts that I am complaining about are actually omissions. Not part of the kit. While there are some detail improvements from the Hobby craft kit such as a bomb bay and corrected fuselage there are many small details that no effort was made to create. Here is a pic of the decaling/paint guide

Looks ok except for one small issue the model doesn't look like that. There was a blister where you see the loop antenna. No loop antenna included. The guidance and antenna on the bottom under the F1 code is also not included must be scratch built. No pitot tube so ditto on the scratch build and the tabs on the wing flaps that show decal A's location are not there. Smooth wing edge so more detail stuff to add. Nothing to big but at least Hobby Craft's old version has all these details minus the wing tabs although a wee bit thick.

As for my prop hub cover? Well that's my fault I misplaced it somewhere safe while cleaning and can't remember. Blame the fumes again I guess.Confused [%-)]

Well almost sunrise here in Texas so I must return to my chambers. Evil [}:)]

Darren, glad to hear the missus is on the mend.

Aaron, at the risk of further inflaming your Susannah York infatuation, she was in a series in the UK called 'We'll Meet Again' in the early 80's, based around the goings on of a US 8th AF base and the local English village.

So there you have SY and aircraft all in one package!

I can remember watching it as a kid, and being disgusted at the lack of combat footage! Ah to be 11 years old again.

Progress Update

I've sorted out all the seams from my botched attempt at putting this kit together a couple of years back, and am now fitting the canopy components.

These have still got the Eduard masks on from when I started the kit, and they are still working perfectly, and aren't leaving a residue either!

I would post some pics, but my wife has knicked the camera and buggered off for the weekend.

That does mean plenty of building time though, in between tending to children.

Aaron- How the heck did I miss that SY post before?  I must have read in my email notification and not on the forum, that was hilarious!  Your mind scares me buddy! Shock [:O] LOL...

Karl- It sounds as if your kit is coming along nicely.  I have had good luck with those Ediard masks as well, leaving a set on my COrsair for over a year and when I went to remove them- no residue or anything.  Beautiful! Thumbs Up [tup]

Darren- Glad to hear the missus is OK!

I received my decals Thursday.  Pulled a little paint off removing the old ones so I had to do some touch up last night.  Finished putting the decals on this morning, this was followed by an extremely thinned down coat of Tamiya Buff.  After that some Tamiya Smoke was used to highlight the panel lines.  Finally the exhaust staining was applied using MM Burnt Umber and the Tamiya Buff again.  Finished off with a coat of flat.

I've got some conflicting info on the location of the wing crosses and the ID stripe on the wing.  The way I have it could be wrong but they're on there to stay!

This will probably be my last update for a while, the real world is going to intrude on the modelling time the next few weeks.  I'll be checking in to keep track of what you guys are up to though.

Hey what are you under my bed spying Guy? I think you are looking at Mike's Dornier as I haven't posted any decal pics......... yet! Soon though.Shock [:O] Step away from the the GLUE!!!

I know I am not one to talk. I got bit by a black widow spider and stayed home from work tonight. Funny how one little bug can make you get so sick isn't it? Oh well I am feeling better tonight now.

Frank  that is definite progress. You must be nearly finished on your Spitfire I bet. Can't wait.. I am almost there myself got the decals all on and everything is painted. If I can find my prop cover ( I'll look tommorrow, been lazy) All I have left is to add some detail to the guns and lace up some antenna wires. Seems like the Dorniers and 1 Me-109 is leading off the attack with a Stuka not far behind. Yo ho!Pirate [oX)]

Mike, great progress on the Dornier, it looks stunning.

I really like the heavy exhaust staning which so many Luftwaffe aircraft seemed to have.

Aaron, hope that bite clears up soon.

Progress Update

Most of the glass work is now on the He111.

I had a little trouble with one of the parts for the nose glazing, as when I Futured it a few years back. I let the Future build up in one of the locating ledges, and then could understand why it didn't fit!

Should be fit for a coat of primer this afternoon.
