Ok now it is time to be serious! Here is a picture of some progress on my Hurricane. Still have to smooth out the wing to fuselage  joints that i filled in with some streched sprue. then the dreaded vac formed canopy. I can tell Classic Airframes did not have alot of cofidence in my trimming skills because they supplied me with 4 canopies! Surface detail is awesome over all fit is not to bad for a short run kit. A little triming and sanding and the parts went together without to much fuss. Overall i have enjoyed building this kit so far. one of CA's better kits in my opinion.

Nice looking job so far SC, and congrats on the 1000 post. I built one of those, they are really sweet kits. Flash on about every bit of it though and the plastic is a little soft, but hey. Were modellers, not assemblers. Heres mine,

Hey Mike I don't think Japan was too much involved with the BOB. ( checking my references) Don't stay gone too long but try to bring back some good deals on killer models if ya can get to a hobby store.

Soulcrusher looks pretty good. Don't realize how tough those kits are until you try one and when it looks as good as yours well you've something to be proud of. Thumbs Up [tup]

Guy told ya about those twin Luftwaffle/woller moments but think that is a sharp looking finish on the Finish bird! Laugh [(-D]

Bondoman, What is the salty talk all about anyways? Pirate [oX)] Falling asleep in my chair now but the word is build build build! Then build somemore unti ye drop! Zzz [zzz]

Nice work so far Soulcrusher.  Those CA kits look so good in the box, but can be a real challenge to build.

Nice work so far mr. 1000Smile [:)]

Mike you could be right, I went off the top of my head. I know they play with armerment in the E-3/E-4 time frame. I'm sure all 4's had 20's and know E-1 thur 3 got upgraded. I don't know for sure right now if 3's had them from the start or not. I'll look into it when I get home.

Harv and Bondman I guess you proved that it was at least two more!!! Guy Aaron rj and Stan thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it. That is an unusual Hurricane there Guy. I do'nt think I've seen one in those markings. I think I will have to cut the canopy open like you have to achive a good fit. It just does not want to sit right. Separating the two parts should make it easier to get a tighter fit of the windscreen. Overall the fit is not bad for a short run kit. Like you guys said were modelers. If you can't overcome a little fit problem then stick to the mainstream kits! Well have to go to the golf range tonight and pound some turf so no model work tonight but there is always tomorrow!

LOL!  What a great movie.

I worked on both the Spitfire and the '109 last night.  Added a panel wash to the Spit and put a coat of Future on the '109.  Started with the decals this morning, she's shaping up nicely! Thumbs Up [tup]

SC- The Hurri's coming along very nicely!

Aaron- It sucks being away from the family and the models but the plus side is the hobby shops over here rock!  I have a nice one just around the corner from my hotel, looking at getting Hasegawa's new 1/72 B-26 and a couple of others.

Well hope to have ya back on American soil soon then if that includes California? Propeller [8-]. Been away from my family too much as well. I know what you mean. Been all over the world but never made it into a hobby shop in Japan so I am envious there! Enjoy your trip and hurray home safe!

Avast ye( Pirate salty talk) Pirate [oX)] Over 24 hours and no post and no reports! Grumpy [|(] So you all should know by now not to leave me bored cuz things happen........Whistling [:-^] Just for giggles I went a head and built the Pegasus Spitfire if for no other reason to give the 109's some target practice. Spent all of 8 hours on it. Nothing spectacular added nothing but a figure to it so you can see what this kit  offers. Remember it is a snap-together (when was the last time you did one of those) I sure can't recall. Here it stands out of box cept for the figure and some hurried antenna that really need redone right. Take her as is!

The color on the bottom is not overspray but a weathering I was playing with to replicate some oxidation and dirt on the light old fashioned lead paint! Miss that stuff.  There were no roundrals included for the underside. Wonder if he had them? not hard to add but again wanted to gibve you fellers a staight shot of this $7 kit and 8 hours work.

8 hours?!  It takes me that much time to get the box open!  Nice work, the RAF could use some help in this GB.

Nice job Aaron, the 1st of many to be shot down in hordes, My friend. They probably did come with roundells on the bottom wing as this was the important one. For air recognition for all those trigger happy AA men looking for targets.

sorry busy at work this week, falling off my post.

The spit look good.

Mike's right, E-1/2 had 17's in the wings as did some early E-3, but this would be the exception to the rule. Most E-3 were requipted with 20mm in the wing postion. It looks like most eariler E's were quickly rearmed with the 20mm. Hence why my E-1 bob has 20's.

I'm building an adversary dio with my E and a spitfire MK.I. I would like to use some not so common marking/camo for the spit as well. From what I have seen the RAF was pretty straight laced with there marking and such. anyone come across anything that might fit the bill? I would like a fighter unit as opposed to a recon. I'm just not finding anything I like. The more unusual and less known the better, but still flew in combat.

My Hurricane should be in primer tonight. Just have some touch up sanding to do and then a primer coat. Hopefully no ugly spots will turn up and I can start painting! The hard edge camo should not be to time consuming. Making the masks for the upper camo will probally take up more time than anything else.

Frank I knew i could get you takling in pirate talk with that one. By the way the monkey Jack is doing just fine.Pirate [oX)]

Thank ye fellows. I am glad you like the Spit. Every once and again I get an urge to do a one day wonder to return to the simpler days like Razor said. Getting ready to dive into a couple bigger projects so I wanted to get my mind right before counting riviits and breakingout the heavy tools.

Probably looks good as the competetion be scarce but once Frank, GZT and Sc get their fighters up it will be a much more proper force to be sure. I really just played and had fun with it. Trying different painting stuff and weathering that I would be too afraid would ruin a larger investment.  I was thinking of adding a few parts from an old broken Monogram Spit for the pit and such. May still since it is a snap and can be disaxssembled easy enough. I certainly will add the lower roundrals as per Guy's point it is a sin not to have included those.

The Prop stands too far off the nose and such but if someone with a limited budget on either cash or time wanted to participate this is a good kit for that or to practice things on.

Thanks again to all now show me some stuff!Mischief [:-,]

Oh Happy DayParty [party]

The padded envelope came in the mail from across the pond, with two beautiful PE sets for the Watch Office. One all scale windows and doors, the other all of the radios, met instruments, rocket, flares, chairs, desks, and about 100 other things a fellow could want.

Damn, no Sussanah York, but PE wouldn't have done her justice anyways; too many foldsSigh [sigh]

We've got to get an airfield up and running. While the main building is under construction, a few officers and a tent will have to do. more tomorrow.
