Karl I am delighted to hear you plan on building a Hurricane! Man I just had a great idea but a little to late as usual. I have noticed that several of us in this group build have entered at least two different models. How does this sound, next year for the BoB group build rules we make it so that you have to build an aircraft from each side! One Allied and one Axis. It would of course begin appropriatly in the summer. What do you guys think? I wanted to post some pics of my Rotte of Hurricanes. Believe it or not the Classic Airframes kit was the better fitting of the two as far as the wing fuselage and stabs went. If it was not for the poorly designed cockpit it would win hand down. Even the decals were better. That was until the dullcoat at them! Here are some progress pics.

First the dullcoat disaster Oh the humanity!

Then the stripped CA kit with the Hasegawa kit.

Wogan is the reason to watch Eurovision, that inane, and deeply sarcastic prattle keeps me entertained for hours.

There's a German version of that song.

Trink, trink, trink, trink, trink......

I love Eurovision. Terry Wogan Rocks. The way, during the duration of the show, he gets more and more Pi##ed is just genius.

We down here in the sunny south have a drinking song to rival any Germans.

It goes.... Drink Drink Drink Drink Drink Drink Drink Drink Drink Drink....repeat untill you pass out.

Ill give you a copy of the words if you get stuck.

I think that song went out of favour after about 1945, not sure why....

Just like the Deutschland uber alles bit of the German national anthem.

Pity no one told the Swiss that, as they managed to play the old version with the 'uber alles' at the recent Euro 2008 football (Soccer) tournament.

There were a few embarassed Germans not singing along to that!Whistling [:-^]

In retrospect, I really should not have been surprised that the Germans had a bombing song.

Greg, translation: 'Sorry, we were late leaving the airfield. I had a problem with my port motor, but can now see those last 50 Spitifires.'

Luftwaffe bomber crews were repeatedly told that the RAF was down to its last 50 fighters.

Mike, glad you like it, I'm trying to capture the mucky look that most BoB He111s seem to acquire.

Steve, the mission tally is what attracted me to this scheme, though I was tempted by the KG54 machine on the same AM decal sheet with the large yellow death's head on the fuselage.

Guy, the beast should be pretty much complete today, I've just got the exhausts and guns to paint. As you can see from the pics I took your advice and fitted that aerial post on the fin. Its just a peice of plastic strip super glued on. Thanks fot the nod on that one.

Greg, really nice job on the Spit, those decals look painted on, great job.

Karl, I like the scheme on that 111. I have never seen one with bomb missions. She is looking great

Greg-  That Spitfire is gorgeous, amazing work!

Karl- Really like the weathering on the upper surfaces, very realistic.  I think you made a good call subduing the fusealge crosses, very effective.

The Classic Airframes Hurricane is a nice kit, but it requires a bit work. I have mine at the decal stage, stopped with canopy fitting Sad [:(] - those vaccum front canopy requires some serious trick - not there yet Sad [:(]

Well good news for the RAF! Tonight I felt inspired and I stripped the Classic Airframes Hurricane down to plastic. So now armed with a whole batch of Aeromaster decals she is back on the production line! I also have made some good progress on the Hasegawa kit. The universal moldig design makes the Hasegawa kit a bit trickey. The foward cowl is molded separate from the fuselage making for more joints to clean up. The wings are also universal with holes on the leading edge for all of the different armement that was installed. Hopefully I can complete both and give us RAF boys one more ace in the hole!

Come on Karl, im starting to feel a little overwhelmed here. I need some more bombers to keep the likes of Greg at bay. That is a mighty fine looking spit my friend. Also a very interesting polish subject. Camo, decals, weathering all looks Flabulunctious. Another quality build from our GB.

Aaron, thanks.

Those fuselage balkan kreuz stood out like a sore thumb.

I can't imagine providing RAF nightfighter pilots with great big white cross to aim at was good for the health of the bomber crew!

Greg-
That Spitfire is absolutely gorgeous! What did you use for the wing roundels? They look painted on, are they? Beautiful job my friend. The dropped elevators are a very nice touch, adding a lot of animation to your model. Thanks for the pics, glad the RAF is getting more help! Big Smile [:D]

I've had the afternoon off, so have made a bit more progress on the Heinkel.

Just need to apply a flat coat, this evening.

As you can see my desk gets more messy the closer I get to the end of a build!

And yes that is a coffee filter, I use it for polishing out dust from paintwork.
