Aaron, I know what you mean about Frank and his optivisor.  He scares me too... especially when he and his girlfriend both sneak up behind me with those things on.  They think its funny to watch me have a heart attack.  Disapprove [V]

Frank, that 109 is looking great.

Your level of finish is amazing.

SC, I can't believe how much progress you've made on your Hurricanes.

Looks like the RAF won't be wanting fighters for long.

Steve, is that the old version of the Condor.

Either way it looks good.

My 111 is slowly getting there......

I had a couple of minor disasters yesterday, first my AB spat pale grey over the starboard engine, and then I managed to snap one of the undercarriage legs.Sigh [sigh]

So now my 111 has a replacement panel over one engine, must be damage from one of those many missions.

The break in the undercarriage leg is now hidden behind a gear door.Smile [:)]

Well made some good progress today. Spend some of me vacation time today catching up from the mishaps. I have all of the decals on the metal wing Hurricane now. Just have to wait for them to settle in and seal them in. I'm held up on the fabric wing version waiting on decals. darn jobber showed them in stock a week ago then email me he did'nt have them after i payed. Supposivly he will be shipping them out tomorrow. Anybody have any good pics of Flight leader Tuck's plane so I can at least lay down the camo? here is a pic so far. The plane is from the 229 squadron in Norholt sept 1940. The pilot is P/O V. Ortmans Belgian. I liked the little penquin on the cowl!

Cool thanks Aaron. now i can start masking the camo for my second Hurricane. You know this might be construed as adding and abeding the enemy there Aaron. Looks like I have something to do tonight now!

Between Frank's optivisor induced heart attack and house reno's I haven't had any energy to close up the fuse today but thought I'd show you all a pic of the pit just to prove that I am actually working on it.  I was going to use the kit supplied decals for the instrument panel and the seat belts because I was feeling lazy but I wrecked one of the panel decals.  Probably a good thing as I liked how it turned out.  This is the 1/72 Tamiya E4 kit.

Karl yep it the older version of the FW-200. It's showing it's age too, lots of flash and no interior detail and a little rough in places but it should build up ok. I have seen the newer c-5 version revell have out and it looks a lot better enginered. I would like to get the Trumpeter 1/48 one though as its one of my favourite aircraft.

Started sanding down the oversized rivets and its going quite well and not as hard as I expected.

Frank, when use the AB in the booth, turn the fan on, you are not supposed to inhale the fumes!

Dave, nice job on the E's pit.

That is such a sweet kit, I built it a few years back.

Steve, I always remember drooling over the Revell Condor when I was a kid, as it looked so cool.

Progress Update

The masking is off the Heink, and the guns are now in.

I found some CMK resin MGs in the spares box to supplement the kit ones, as I don't seem to have enough.

Just need to repaint the aerial mast and attach it, and it's all done. Knowing me that'll take a week.Wink [;)]

Well boys the Hasegawa kit is done! Still waiting on my decals for the CA kit. I hope to have the Airfix kit by the end on this week. Here are a couple of pics. I scratched the canopy some how and I do not like fix of the wing joints. They did not have anywherenear the fit of the CA kits but I have yet to build a perfect one yet so it is what it is.

Its not a big update but progress all the same. Bombs, props and elevators are done. The sanding of the whole airframe is in progress and going well. When all subassemblies etc are done it will go fast.

And yes that is Douglas Baders Spit in the photo. I finished it just before this GB started, just in case the allies need any extra help in the fight.

This is my last update for a week as I am off to the Nats in Virginia Beach. Cant wait as it will be my first convention.

Well first of all, great work everyone, I've fallen behind everyone's progress the past few days but you guys are cranking out some excellent work!!! Bow [bow]

Second the Dornier's done.  This project started coming apart at the seams on me, literally.  The old plastic doesn't seem to stick together well or doesn't like modern glue, I had some repair work to do after everything was nearly complete, very nerve-wracking!  The only mod that you guys haven't seen yet is the open crew access hatch, made from a piece of aluminum and some plastic stock.  Everything else is pretty much OOB, the wheels are TD resin though too.  Overall I'm fairly happy with it, especially considering how old the girl is.  Next up: a Tamiya 109, yay! Holy mackerel!  You guys are really cranking them out!

SC- Beautiful job, you really turned that one out just like Hawker Aircraft during those Dark Days.  Well done, can't wait to see the next one! Thumbs Up [tup]

Steve- Great work there, like Ol' Tin Legs' bird in the background too. Wink [;)]

Mike- Outstanding work!  Despite your troubles with that kit, you turned out a real gem.  Way to go! Big Smile [:D]

This GB is really turning out a lot of beautiful work.  It will be interesting to see how many completed builds we have here in the end.

Hi guys,

Just have to echo, great work all round!

SC -- The Hasegawa Hurry came out a treat! Lots of problems with it but you handled them swell and she looks really proud! Makes me wanna add one to my collection!

Steve -- I'm really enjoying seeing the old Revell Condor coming together, it's always so great to apply modern techniques to classic kits. They really do come up well!

Mike -- Great work! If my Z-2 looks half as good I'll be well pleased. Which kit is this, BTW? You mention it's an oldie -- Airfix, Revell???

My panel scribing is moving along, one wing underside, one elevator underside, and the fuselage sides to go. A couple of lines on the nacelles is all the engine detail to be scribed, then I can look at basic construction and getting some RLM-02 into cockpit, wheelwells and engine nacelles. As a major rescribing project, I may prime this model before painting, something I don't often do, but I'd be happier to see the recessed lines through paint overall before getting to color coats.

Still waiting on my 109 in the post...

SC, really great looking hurricane you have there. It came out teriffic and its one sharp build.

Mike, that is one outstading looking 17. I too need to be reminded what maufacture and scale. Please dont say its 1/72 that would crush my ego. Great job.

Mike the Dornier 17 looks great. The crew and base really make it look sharp.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I know the  CA kit will be much better looking because of the better fit of the parts. If i could only get the new decals! I do not know what the Airfix kit has in store for me but i imaging it should be pretty straight foward. I'm at a standstill right now due to lack of materials on both other Hurricanes. Gotta gt those planes in the air and knocking down those nazi bombers!
