Very nice, Charles.  The finish looks very well done.  The seam is a pain but it is a mystery to me how to avoid it if you want to display the engine.  Have you run around the room with the Sabre in one hand and the MiG in the other making machine gun sounds yet?

Mucker, my friend, it looks incredable!!. I`m so slow, I dought very seriously at my rate I`ll never be able to even START my MIG for this GB, more the less finish my 86!!. Excelent build, though. The engine is top notch. You did good!!...............Harv

I just may do that! My just-turned-1-year old can't quite speak yet, but makes a great jet engine sound when he sees my airplanes. He likes it when I hold him with one arm and fly one of the models around with the other. He makes the sound effects for me.

Harv, I always run intyo panic mode when I try to finish off one build to start another. Personally, I'd forget about the Mig so you can keep all of your effort on the Sabre. And if you're still doing Paper Tiger, I'll recommend the books Hot Shots to you...the last chapter is a first hand account of Harold Fisher's experience in Korea and as a captive in a Chinese prison.

Mucker, I have no intension on starting the MIG till the 86 is finnished! Besides the Saber, I have the Corsair for that build I`m splitting time with. I also have my F105 that I started a yr and a half ago (first build back). I love the 105 but since discovering GB`s I`ve set it aside .Need to Future it and put decals on, then do stores and legs. But I truely enjoy each one. Its amazing how much I`ve improved since comming back to the fold. But I have all of my forum buddies to thank for that...................Harv

OK, after two mornings of pulling my hair out (the little I have left) and fitting and fitting and re-fitting I think I have the better part of the pit finnished. I like the way its coming out. Lots of little fiddly stuff to add but I think I`ll wait till after painting. Dont want the tape pulling little bitty things out when I unmask! So here for your approvale is what is done...........Harv

Looking really nice so far, Harv. There's a lot of detail in there. You're slow pace (read "patience") will pay off in the end. Once everything is in the 'pit are you going to give her a sludge wash? That would really make all of the nice detail pop out!

Really nice Mig there....looks great next to the sabre...like to see some close ups of the allclad...I need to learn how to use that stuff...do some alumn finish planes...

Starting to paint my Panther...should have some pics in a couple of days.

Again great build as always.,

Thanks, Carlos.

while I'm definately no pro, my recent Alclad usage has been relatively successful. Here's my simple plan I stick to religiously:

  • Tamiya Gloss Black
  • Future coat over entire aircraft
  • Allow this to cure for at LEAST 48 hours
  • Light coats of Alclad. Emphasis on the light coats

Simple formula that has made Alclad very fun to use. To me the Polished aluminum gives the best shiny metal look and the other shades are great for accent panels. The White Aluminum gives a nice rendition of a worn aircraft.

well mucker its not to bad for an old kit for testors. just watch out for a few places and you will not have  problems with it.  the only down thing was the decals. they fell apart in water.

well thanks a buch for the comments thier guys. this gb  is done for me i may add the wc 54 dodge ambulance later to it. i have committed to some more gb on the armoroama site and have all ready fallen behind on one build. and another one starting in october

mucker  this will be put in a diorama along with the wc54 ambulance that i have to do and i hope to take it to the nationals in 09.

bpseed dirtball and jmart this will have a few figures in it but no nurses. i know that sucks but to close to the front to have them in harms way. i have an idea cooking in my head on what i want to do with theses two models so be on the look out for it in the armor section

If you don't mind, stop back and post some diorama pictures when you can. I'd love to see it.

Well Mucker, pics as promised. The front & rear are not joined yet. Still have the engine to do. It will be bare bones, though. Minimal amout of parts. Need it for tail pipe and thats about it.Also I figure less weight in the rear the better, even with nose weight, why take a chance. And I`m using metal landing gear.............Harv

There's still plenty if time left ....just wondering how everyone else (other than Harv!) is doing?

I should get one more in by the end of the year, but have a few other GB's to get to first.

Man, between all of the stuff you guys are building, and that show I watched on the military channel last night about the F-86 vs MiG-15, I reaaaaaaly want to toss that Academy Sabre together...need to find some more time! Perhaps I should consider quitting my job to be able to do more GB's. Laugh [(-D]

Haha! I know the feeling. THere are so many kits I want to spend Quality time with, but simply not enough time to build.

I missed the show last night, but I'll look for it again. Have you seen the Mig Alley episode of Dogfights? That's one of my favorites.

Ooooh, no, haven't seen that one. They included a bit of stuff about MiG Alley, but most of the show was devoted to the differences/similarities between the two a/c, and a lot of history. Very cool!

I don't know HOW many times I've watched a show on tMC and wanted to crack a kit out of it's box shortly thereafter! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]
