Service&Supply GB 6/15/08-1/15/09

Your camo looks great Guy!  I just attempted that three colour scheme on a little Kettenkrad.  It was both my first attempt at an armour model, and the inaugural project through my new dual-action AB (after many years of using a single-action)...my results were....humbling...lol...oh well, practice, practice, practice...

Thanks for the insight on the seats as well...they do look very realistic, and your simple technique will be employed on the aforementioned Ketten...perhaps it will divert attention away from my only semi-successful camo pattern....lol

oh...my M113 is off to a slow start, with only the engine assembled at this point...typical summer progress for me I'm afraid...but I've already managed to sacrifice a part to the carpet monster and cut myself while cleaning-up a sprue connection point...so, with those necessary parts of the build behind me, it should be smooth sailing from now on...lol

Lufty - looks great! For some reason I had it in my head that you were doing the trailer with this as well...am I off my rocker?  

Thx Mikael, the seats were done in Tamiyas semi gloss black and then dust coated with their Dark yellow. The paint for the rest of the tank was all done with Tamiyas Acrylics.

Ive started the weathering Proper now. Shes had a couple of washes and pin washes. Time for some pigments. It looks an awfull lot different to the previous pictures. Then ive just got a ton of stowage to paint and weather and place on her......then maybe some figures...DOH.

Well im going to call the bulk of the building Done! (Stowage excluded) Time for some paint. I have a colour plate of the Famo in my 'Nuts and Bolts' book on her that caught my eye. Here was the initial camo. It looks a little stark at the mo but she'll improve as i fettle it

     I plan on starting the BT when I finish Whites Half track GB.

   I was doing some work at one of the public school's.I work for a major school and office furniture supplier here in N.H. Takes me from Bangor to Bridgeport and Boston To Albany.

Believe me, I'd LOVE to build both - let me see how much progress I continue to make in my other GB's. Either one will go OOB, I think, with a bit o' scratchbuilding if I can manage it. When are you going to start on your BT? 

   Hey Dupes welcome aboard.More than glad to have you in my friend.No problem with the BT but knowing you I would'nt be suprised if you built both .I'm going all out on mine MK tracks and Voyager PE set if I could find an interior I'd be adding that also.

    By the way went up to Augusta yesterday for work.How do you deal with that toll system,pay to get on and to get off in a car it aint to bad but when your driving a truck man it's pricey.

Now, at least, I know where that Famo you've been trying to get me to look at is hiding...I finally got a chance to read through the pre-GB thread, which led me over here. Been looking for your pics in the wrong place.

Freakin' AWESOME is all I can say so far...wow, you're really showing everyone how it's done with the PE (and scratchbuilding) work. I'll be watching the rest of your progress with great anticipation! Question for you - are you going to mask the engine when you paint the chassis, or is it not attached yet for easy removal?

Panzerguy - whiiiiiiile I'm here, I think I'm going to throw my hat in the GB ring - looks like I'm going to finish up a couple of other commitments, and some kits are calling to me...I haven't decided yet, but both the Hobby Boss M4 Tractor or the DML Bergetiger would be awfully fun options. Let me try to make up my mind, and I'll get back to you. (Hopefully you don't mind if I double up on the BT with you?)

As for current progress, ive had a bit of a stumbling block. Either the front chassis has warped somewhere or the the bulkhead is in the wrong position but the Hood doesnt fit as it should. Aah well. More fettling.

Your right Steve, this kit goes together so well. One of Tamiyas finest, for sure. The PE frets from Aber are pretty cool too. I think ive managed to get a little done almost every night. I love it when you get a build like that.

   caSSius I wish  could tell ya when I was gonna get started on my build but I've put so much on my plate that I'm hoping for maybe the end of July .

    Lufty that must be one sweet kit because it dosnt look like you've taken much of a break since you started.

Hi all, finally finished up the rear deck. All those 'Tie downs' were a nightmare. Not one bent the same way as another. Also got the wheels on the chassis. Almost put glue to plastic before spraying behind the wheels. Then put my thinking head on and sprayed 1st. As you can see theres just a few more odds and ends to button up and shes ready for paint. Heres a couple of pics.

Loving this build so expect more soon.

I thought I'd better check-in and let you know that I haven't forgotten about the build panzerguy. The M113 is calling to me...lol...hopefully this weekend will see the inaugural cutting of sprue.

Wow Luftwoller, that Famo is looking sweet. Great job not only on the PE, but on the plumbing too. I'm looking forward to your next progress pics. Hopefully you won't be finished before I start...lol

Thanks Guy you have succesfully stopped me building mine now , i cant be bothered with the detail that youve put into yours so mine wont measure up, oh well yet another half built kit to stash.

Been working on PE parts for what seems like years. I think, personally that its worth it. A lot of modellers would rather do the hard work scratchbuilding the little bits themselves. Not me. With this build i have to be careful to keep a lot of the parts apart, component like, that way it will be easier to spray when the time arises. Hopefully pretty soon. Only a couple of pics tonight. Ive a day off tomorrow so there may be more.

Hey all, again LOL. My shift this week is a split shift, this means i get a 4 hr lunchbreak. Woo hoo modelling time. I didnt do all of this this lunchtime but its a few more bright bits that i know you like.

This is the back of the bulkhead. The dash has been readied for the PR dashboard and film rears.

    Getting my camera back next week and I'll be finishing up my 251/10 for the half track GB then I hope to be starting on my berg tiger.In the mean time I've been finishing up some half built kit's I had in my stash. Hi all. Finished my winged wonder and now onto the Famo. Luckily i managed to get a good few hours on it today. So far all i can say is good stuff about this kit. Zero flash, sink marks, Excellent fit. What more does a man require. The Aber set on the other hand....The brass itself is excellent, the only downside is the instructions. Eduard they most definately aint.

Any hoo, i started on the engine. You get the option of displaying it and having the bonnet (Hood for you in the US) shut. I chose to have the lot open so i needed to give the motor a bit of lovin, courtesy of Aber and some scratching.

Next job (I havent followed the instructions yet) was the bulkhead. This was just a very bland flat panel. I found a few good refs. One of them was Nuts and Bolts 'Famo'. An excellent book, go out and buy it if you love Famo's. I was well chuffed with the result. The Aber stuff performed excellently. I scratched the 'Tyre air supply and pressure governor' (The thing with the pipes coming out of it on the right hand side of the Bulkhead.

Well thats it for this installment. Ive started half a dozen other things but they need improving before i post them.
