WOW,, halfway already.  Where has the time gone.

Well, I am happy to report that, after the Superbowl, I got started on the /4.  No progress pics yet, and I am only on the first step, but hey... it is underway!!

panzer88 - very nicely done; camo came out great, good blend in. Front wheels are excellent; good weathering and not a sign of a seam. Interior - well done, the amount of "chipping" is spot on for my own taste (ie not overdone). It is indeed a winner IMHO :)  cheers

Steve - PM read and book shipped! enjoy Party [party] Look forward to your build

Here's where I stand with my 251/1 "Falke". She's pretty much done, but I'm not too happy with the kit supplied radio antennae. It looks a little too chunky, I might have to make a new one out of stetched sprue. Well here's the pics, there's alot of them. Sorry dialup users.

We are packing our gear as we speake, should be home in a few days. Already have a plane of action for the 251. First job will be the thrid colour. Then, once i find some future floor polish a coat of that. Going to try the weather method shown on the Hetzer in the Jan issue of FSM. That should just leave the tracks and tools. I have two weeks leave when i get home so fingurs crossed, that will be enough time to to finish.

Hate to have to do this, but we're going to hit the midpoint of this GB over the weekend, and I've been unable to get a hold of Assurgeant. I fear he's left the forums. I've had some PM request to get in on the 251-action, so I'm going to hand off his 251/7 to Some Assembly Required - hopefully we'll see him start his build shortly, and I'm sure we'll see him post in the thread soon.

To the rest of you - keep it up! Should see some updates from SMJ very soon, as well as a kit-cracking from me shortly. Bish should be back from deployment before too long as well, I would think.

Hey Mike! Not too late to sign up, but be sure to look at the first page to review all of the GB rules - there are only a few variants left that aren't already spoken for. If you're willing to build one of the remaining /xx's, then you're welcome to get in! I can review those with you if you want.

Russ - glad to have you back! Looking forward to your /21! Big Smile [:D]

Now if we can only get a hold of Assurgeant...Sad [:(]

SMJ- For your Tamiya 251, I would highly recommend Hobbyboss's AM tracks. They are very similar to Dragon's and if you're careful you can make them workable. I used them on my Tamiya 251/9 Stummel for Dupe"s Winter Warrior Group Build, and they worked and fit great. And they aren't that expensive, around $10.

panzer88: I was considering that route but R34_White built the Stuka Zu Fuss (my build) and said that the Hobbyboss tracks had a fit problem...any input?!

Good day!

Dupes has had to chase me down - I have been MIA from the forums.  Business travel has kept me away from my hobby table the last few months.  Hope to get moving on my /21 soon.  There are still a few months left, so I should have plenty of time to catch up.

Just another set of tool holders is the griffin set.  They have only two pieces and fold up real easy.  I love them.  With them I can mount them and weather, then add the tools latter.

GREAT!!! Thanks.  You are the man!

Aber sets tend to be a bit complicated and may not be your best option if you're not all that experienced with PE sets.  Each Aber tool clasp is made from 3 parts and can be made to be workable.  A simpler way to go might be the Eduard German tool clamp set (TP005).  Easier to fold and still gives a nice clasp.

There, now you have choice, which is always a good thing.   Have fun.

Sweet! Glad to see you're ready to roll, Steve!

If you aren't necessarily sold on that scheme, I have plates for many more SZF's. Let me know!

Guys: I have always liked this version of the 251and was excited to find out I could include it in a GB, thanks dupes for another great theme! It's not a real old Tamiya kit, but enough so that I wanted to upgrade it with some AM goodies...specifically a full PE set. I scored the fig's and extra artillery for cheap and plan to make a more complete scene with their addition. The camo' scheme shown came off the fig's box, surprisingly not the kit box. I like it because I'm still a newbie at multi-scheme camo's and I thought a two-color would be a good way to learn! I also really like the way dark yellow-red/brown and contrasting field gray bomb color look together. OK, I'm ready to ROCK and ROLL on this bad-boy!!!

Bufflehead- Thanks, I'm glad you like the camo. The kit is indeed Dragon's 6233. AFV Club also makes a kit of the "Falke", but it is in their 3 kit night fighting bundle.

Bish- If you can't find the mag, you can buy just the article that you want and download it to your computer. That's what I did, it's probably the best reference source that you'll find on the "Falke". I spent a many hour searching for info and pics and not much luck. There are some pics of the generator on the web though, google GG400 generator. Some good color pics. Like I said my generator is probably a tad on the large side, but looks ok to me.

Dupes- I decals still to put on, then on to the weathering.
