Well, I'm drowning my sorrows for the Minnesota Twins in a bottle of Olive Drab tonight, boys...

Base coat on the DUKW, just placing odds 'n ends for photo purposes for now...

Well, here's 3 pix of my Italeri1/71 Merkava Mk.I. Box stock. I am interested in the sculptural form of the thing, so a simple flat gray primer paint job, no decals. I did some olive drab details and blackened the grilles, but that's it. I think the 1:1 MBT is one of the best looking ever.

Interesting interpretation of the Merkava.. but I'm curious why you left the colour off of the model.  Merks aren't grey by a long shot.  sorry if I sound harsh, but shouldn't a model be built to suit?  No such thing as a grey merkava...  if you need help on it let me know, I've built enough of them to have some knowledge!

Okay, here are some in progress shots. Still have a looong way to go yet. Surprisingly it has been a real pleasure building it.

Some more pics further along

CDNTanker25, no offense taken. I painted it uniformly grey as a personal whim, and because I have zero weathering skills. I suppose I could have painted it flat sand or something more appropriate, but again I view it as a sculpture more than a detailed and correct representation of a 1:1 Merkava.

And... I weighted it down with some lead fishing weights to give it some heft and it serves as a great paperweight on my desk, albeit a delicate one.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know I'm still building on my Opel. I just have a couple of things to do and the Opel should be done tomorrow. But the FLAK 38 is a different story. I was going to start on it tonight. First thing is to cut out the gun itself. So I cut it out, cleaned it of mold lines and pin marks. Next put the tip on the barrel. Where's the barrel! Then I look and it's suppose to be molded with the gun. Not there! Of all things the barrel. It's a gun for crying out loud.  I went back and looked at the pics I posted in this GB when I first got the kit, and sure enough it's not there.Well I will just have to find something to substitute it. I will have to drill out the gun to accept the new barrel, but thats modelling. Funny thing though I wonder where it went. I don't think I ever got though because I opened it and took pictures for this GB as I opened it.

Thanks

Hey guys,

Ok I realize every one is probably watching football so I will wait til later for your replies. But being I live in Tampa there is not much in the way of football to watch here.Angry [:(!] So anyway I am posting some progress pics of my Opel Maultier. I thought I would have it done today but my wife had other thoughts. I still have a ways to go to finish.

Thank you

OK here are some progress pics. This is the Italeri 7.5cm Howitzer. A small kit but with lots of extras (flash, sink marks and fit problems...Big Smile [:D]).

The lighting may have affected the pics as the colors did not come out well.

I am now working on the figures that came with the kit.

NMT, Steve, Dwight, great progress guys. Your builds are looking great.

NMT, I'm scouting ebay for the same kit, so far no luck.

Steve, that wood looks real. Did you just use washes on it?

Dwight, looking forward to your figs.

For me, I got a bit of puttying and sanding done, perhaps tomorrow, I will finish the base and major construction. Then I'll need a camo.

Thanks Gun Tech and Tigerman. The bed on the Opel is OOB. Living in Florida wood is really out in the elements. I walk my dog every night and pass a lot of wood fences in the neighbor hood. So when I went to do the wood on the bed I knew exactly what it should look like. I painted it nuetral gray sprayed it with future and washed it with black watercolors.

Thanks

Everybody's work looks fantastic!!! I got a lot of work done on mine. All that's left is the camoflage nets I made. They're drying as I write this, then they have to be painted. One drapes over the box behind the front seats and the other drapes over the NebelWerfer. Here's a couple of shots without the nets. Sometimes I wonder why I camo these things, I usually dirty them up so bad you can't see it anyway.

I'll post pics when I get the nets on.

Ron.

The Crusader look's great NMT.Smile [:)]

I managed to pick up the Mk2 and Mk3 so will be building them both to go with my Mk1.

I'v started work on the Puma and I'v got to say its a great kit although its got the usual sink mark problems. This is only my second ever piece of German armour and I'm looking forward to putting down the camo on it .This is also only my second kit using a full etc set and it's going alot easier than the Crusader did.

Comet, you're amazing for tackling another build. I got to get off my duff.

Hey guys,

I finished my Opel Maultier but not the FLAK38 that goes in the back. I don't know how but like I said the barrel is broken off and missing. I also found a couple more pieces broken. I know when I bought it the box had a tear in it but it was shink wrapped so I don't know how I lost pieces. Any way here is my build.

Maybe I will get an urge to scratch build the pieces I need for the FLAK 38 and put it in the back.
I would like to thank Tigerman for such a great GB. This has been one of the busiest GB I've ever taken part in. A couple of my GBs I've finished a long time ago are still stuck on my last post! I think they quit. Thats why this has been such pleasure. You are the greatest bunch and I had a blast.

Thank you

Your welcome Steve, glad you joined. Smile [:)] Love your build, hopefully, you'll get the flak done, but nonetheless, it looks fine without it too.

Zoran, fine job on the chipping on the Opel. How did you achieve it, sponge?

Finally, got 'er done! I've never made camo nets before, just read about them. I think they turned out ok, but next time I'm going to look for leaves or something to put in them. The model itself was a bit fiddly to assemble but I think overall it was worth it. I'll be happy to put this one on my display shelf.

Thanks for looking,    Ron.
