Viper,

I look forward to seeing the M-925.

Me too! LOL.  I have built the M-923 in the past, so I know what to expect from the kit.  I plan on leaving the shelter top off the 925 and adding a scratch built 5th-wheel hitch.  Then comes the fun part.  a scratch built 80-ton transport trailer.  I got the idea from the one we have on base.  Its a military tractor, but the trailer is civilian.  we dont have any of the Oshkosh M1070 /M1000 combos.

Sounds like a lot of work. Good luck.

Hmmm, maybe I'll join this GB too.

Though, it must be a quick build.  I have several Italeri models waiting to be built : Pz IV F ; Pz IV H ; jagdpanzer I ; RSO with PAK40 ; BT5 ; commando jeep ; Elefant ; 122mm soviet howitzer ;120mm mortar ; Sdkfz 234/1 ; kubelwagen and, still in an old "italaerei" box, BM-13.

But, before this, I must finish my Revell PT117.

Since Alex went AWOL, I might either leave this here or move it to the GB forum where it's bound to disappear into the depths of modeling heck. What does everyone think?

Hey tigerman,

I was just wondering I saw this group build "Wheeled Warriors" and I wanted to join. But I told you I couldn't join yours, which I really wanted to, because I didn't think I could finish in time. Well I went into the LHS looking for an Italeri kit you listed in one of my post and came out with the Opel Maultier with Flak 38! It looks like a fun little kit. Well any way I was thinking I could join both GB ( Wheeled Warriors, and Yours) because it has tires (Wheeled Warriors GB) and it is made by Italeri (Your GB).
So wha da ya say? Is this acceptable?

Thanks

Oh what the heck. I have a Italeri Demag w/ Pak 38 I could build. So I guess I'm in.

Mark, glad to have you. Is that a new tooled Demag or an Esci rebox? Rob, do you know?

No, the Italeri Demag is a slightly different vehicle than the old Esci Demag. I have the Revell of Germany boxed version of the Italeri Demag (troop carrier/prime mover) and it does not have anything in common with the old Esci kit I built in the 1980s.

Here is a link to a review of the Italeri Demag: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.models.scale/browse_frm/thread/692d5c7d6ece24d8/28e0719cf559e4fa?lnk=gst&q=review+demag&rnum=1#28e0719cf559e4fa

That's good to know Rob. The Esci kit was a nightmare at best. Straight to the trash.

So far everyone has got different kits. That's cool. Many great subjects out there.

Instead of building the M24 kit, I've decided to build the BT-5 kit with the Commander Series "Christie" conversion.  4 months should be able to aid me in the cutting and filling needed.

Steve Zaloga sent me his article he wrote on making the T3 using the BT-5 and Commander's conversion. It was from the 2000 Military Modelling magazine volume 30 number 3.

I'll look it up.  Thanks.

The Commander Series guy told me that the most difficult part of the conversion is the tracks (part of the un-converted kit).  If that is the case, very good Thumbs Up [tup].

Hey tigerman
How did you come up with the dates of the build?

I just figured that kids are back in school and most are done with their summer vacations. As for the length, not to short and not to long. I mean a build that goes a year.......not much incentive to finishing IMHO. Also, with the holidays, it gives a little more time to get it done.

Just wondering, January 15 is my birthday. I just thought maybe it was a special day for you too.

I've got the Italeri Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. F1/F2/G, a kit not worth the price of glue according to German armor experts. Well, I've got one and might as well use some spare glue I have on hand to assemble it before the glue goes bad.

rob  i  have one 1/2 done and it is real nice except for the large lump on the tailend of the turret you must remove at least the edges. the box will fit better and hide 80% of it

Thinks for reminding me of that dreaded place Im going to.

Well anyways I'm in Oregon and today I went to the hobby shop and picked up Revel's F-106( I'm not going to screw this one up lol) and Italeri's swS/ Gerat71/ w/ Panzerwerfer.

Well, I got bored.  So I built the italeri kit I was planning to use for the build.  So.....I'm changing my kit to the Italeri M109.

I'll get in on this one with the Italeri LAV-25 TUA "Anti Tank" I'll be doing it in NATO camouflage with Tamiya bags and a whole bunch of scratchbuilt stuff. Looking forward to it!

Well, I was taking a break from a vrey large diorama [roughly 30 figures] and I wanted to get started on the scratchbuilt trailer and its 16 cast resin wheels.  then I ended up with a ton of free time all of a sudden, and got the trailer done early.  Well, then I needed to build the tractor.

Anway, here is what was supposed to be my submission for the GB.  Its Italeri's M925 5-ton converted to a M931 Heavy transport with a scratchbuilt 70-ton lowboy trailer.  I decided to give it a vietnam era paint scheme since its not really used anymore.

That's quite a build there Viper. Sorry to start so late, but it's just 5 weeks away.

Corvette Mike, got you down for the LAV. I'm helping my son on his now. Got to put on the camo. BTW, are most if not all NATO schemes hard-edged?

Last year for my birthday the wife got me Italeri's old 2 1/2 ton cargo truck. Kit #271, which I think is from the 70's or 80's. This will be an opportunity to get back to my roots, WWII vehicles, and get away from track assembly before I go insane. Can't wait to get started now.

Yeah, but isn't it tracks that got us this hooked? They do become a pain sometimes. I'm working on a Puma, sans tracks.  Wink [;)] Got you down.

I think I'll stick to my Panther Ausf A. It will be a part of a small dio, and will represent a wrecked vehicle in an urban combat environment.
