M2A1 US Army Halftrack finished
Posted by constructor on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 3:16 AM

These M2A1 just rolled off the pier  and is still very clean. The GIs seating inside are waiting for the driver. These is the M2/M2A1 1/35 by Dragon. I used the Lion Roar PE set and the assembly was rather simple except for the tiny straps and the gun mounts.

Mines. For some reason, this kit comes with them molded to the racks while Tamiya;s ancient offering had them as separate pieces.

Looks great.  Love the clean build.  Makes me want to start my M3a2.  Are those the figures from Tamiya's M3a2?

I thought that's what they looked like but figured that would be a bad place for them.Couldn't a bullet detonate them?

That's right. I was planning to fabricate new racks but I changed my mind. The Tamiya version of the halftrack has separate mines as well as their M20 and M8.

When Dragon came out with this M2A1, Lion Roar almost simultaneously came out with a PE set. It has the instrument panel with dial insert, foot pedals, tool and gas tank straps, gun mounts and ammo belts and lots more, other pieces designed for the M2.

That's a beautiful build, and a perfect, clean finish!

I've always loved that figure set; you've really done it justice--and that's not easy to do with those old figures! Cool [8D]Thumbs Up [tup]

I'm sorry but I really could'nt remember. I got them from my painted figures box and it looked good to me seeing them sitting there. One GI was even wearing the woolen bonnet. What I know is that they're from a Tamiya kit.

I"m working on the full LR upgrade and was looking for build pitfalls and whatnot.

I think you nailed the colors and tinting, figures look great also. Bow [bow]

I'll be dirtying up my build just to hide the mistakes. Whistling [:-^]
