Posted by Mac27bran on Thursday, September 3, 2009 12:06 AM

hey, im building a t-34/85 and i was wondering if anyone new what the base color off the track links were. i know that they're going to be dirt and mud colors after the base coat so i just need the first color.

oh and whats a good meatod of linking the tracks togater, i always get mad at the fact thatmine alway fall a part when i glue them to the road wheels and sprockets.

The base color for the track links should be a steel or iron color. Parts tht have direct metal to metal contact will become shiny from use, the raised portions that contact the ground will also tend to be a bare metallinc while mud, dirt, grime, etc will accumulate in the recessed areas.

What my modeler did with individual tracklinks is to use slow-drying glue, he mentioned 'chroloform' or something like that, glued them together to full length then wrap it around the roadwheels, idler wheels and sprockets until ends meet, one side at a time.

This is one of many Dragon kits built using the above method:

I did my T-34/85 tracks in Tamiya XF-64 and then I washed them in black and burnt umber and dusted them with various pigments.See what you think. Also if your talking magic tracks, join them with testors liquid glue, let them dry 1 hour, then shape them around the wheels, before they completely dry.Hope this helps.
